      Always learn

“A man who carries a cat by the tail learns something he can learn in no other way.”

      — Mark Twain

Failure is embraced, as long as you learn something from it.

We believe in curiosity, and first-principles reasoning. All ideas are welcome, and debate is embraced. We aim for clarity of thought, and collecting diverse points of view, from our team, and our customers.

      Keep it simple

“Stock is the backbone of good cooking, just roast some bones, roast some vegetables, put them in a big pot with water, and reduce and reduce and reduce.”

      — Anthony Bourdain

Whether cooking, writing a book, or managing your workload, boiling ideas down to their essence, and bringing elegant simplicity to complex systems are the backbones of operational excellence.

      Engineering Qualifications

      • 2+ years of engineering experience in a consumer or enterprise software company.

      • Proficient in front-end technologies, being familiar with the DOM and how to interact with it.

      • Capable of diving into backend code to write new features from top to bottom.

      • BS in computer science or related field, or relevant work experience.

      Bonuses:

      • Browser automation experience (Puppeteer, Selenium, Cypress)

      • Experience with ReactJS

      Personal Qualities

      • You understand, and care deeply about the ramifications of the code you write, on the customer, and on the business.

      • You think from first-principles.

      • You are comfortable with the ambiguity and pace of iteration of an early-stage startup.

      • You are resourceful and will do whatever to deliver delightful customer experiences.

      • You have strong opinions, but are open to changing your mind.

      • You believe that a steeper slope makes up for a lot of y-intercept.

      Sound like you?

Please reach out to us, and one of the co-founders will get back to you ASAP. We look forward to hearing from you!

    • Company Overview

Ceros is an experiential content platform that empowers the creation of bespoke, immersive digital content without code. We’re passionate about helping companies transform their static digital content into engaging experiences. From custom interactive microcontent, to immersive event microsites, you can build it with Ceros. Publish and update live content instantly, and embed it into your site instantly. Join us in ending the endless creation of static content and be part of the movement towards meaningful content experiences.

We are well-funded and venture-backed by prominent investors including Grotech Ventures, Greycroft, and Starvest Partners.

      About the Product

Designing and building the Ceros platform is not an easy task. We require the best-of-the-best web developers, designers, and QA testers, ready to bring the functionality of desktop software to the web, often pushing web browsers to the limits of what’s currently possible.

Our codebase is 95% JavaScript and the Ceros product is comprised of multiple single-page applications with a client-heavy focus. We use libraries like jQuery, Require, and Backbone. The Ceros Studio is architected around the HTML5 Canvas element.

We’re not language zealots. We believe in using the right tool for the job, and our current server-side infrastructure runs PHP, Node.js, Redis, AWS Aurora, Docker, Jenkins, etc. on the Amazon AWS cloud.

      About the Team

As part of the Ceros product team, you’ll be working with a small, cross-functional group of the most talented people you’ve ever worked with. We hire only passionate and creative people with a proven and unquestionable ability to execute, and every member of the team is equally responsible for moving the product forward.

We have a dynamic company culture that collaborates daily. We care deeply about the user experience, and we debate passionately about our ideas. When you work at Ceros, you check your ego at the door, and you aren’t afraid to be honest, especially to yourself. We take our jobs seriously but ourselves not so much -- whether it’s cracking jokes in the chat room or poking fun at the CEO’s atrocious spelling.

      About the Job

Working completely from home, you’ll be communicating often through chat rooms, email, and video conferencing. We offer flexible working hours and an extremely flexible vacation policy. And we provide excellent gear (15” Macbook Pro, iPad, external monitor, etc.).

      • handling superfriend responsibilities with minimal assistance
      • acting as release owner
      • mentoring other developers
      • suggesting new technologies and techniques to improve developer productivity
      • agonizing over the user experience until even a trained monkey could use the product

    • We're looking for an experienced senior web developer that can help us move fast with stable infrastructure. We're a small, talented team working together to create the best digital tool for teachers to create and run courses. We offer a competitive salary in an autonomous work environment. You can work from our HQ in Copenhagen or remotely. Work with a new and well maintained codebase using Django, Postgres, React & GraphQL.

Experience — We are looking for a developer that has experience from working with a large, complicated codebase – either from contributing to open source projects or from working in a product team.

Technology — We are looking for someone with web experience, preferably from working on a frontend-heavy application. Our current stack is Django, Postgres, React & Relay. There are no hard requirements for knowing our technologies, but it is definitely an advantage if you do.

Autonomous & driven — We are looking for someone who can solve problems autonomously and effectively. It's important that you care about the details, but never get stuck in them. You care just as much about the developer experience as the user experience.

    • DevOps operations and development of related automation software on the free software project Open edX. The project is used by and in part developed by organizations like MIT, Harvard, McKinsey, and others, so you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to projects that are widely used and to be part of a thriving open source educational community. See edx.org, stanford.edu or fun-mooc.fr for examples of Open edX instances.

We are looking for experienced DevOps specialists, to help improve and scale our infrastructure. We host many instances of Open edX, and have developed open source automation software based on OpenStack and Python/Django to scale it, and allow users to spin their own instance by themselves. We are looking to refactor some of its components, including moving to Terraform and Packer, as well as supporting additional platforms such as AWS.

The Open edX platform itself is a large Python/Django codebase, with good code standards and architecture. You would also work on different clients contracts using the platform, which can include both DevOps operations and fullstack Python/Django/JS development. The clients list/references include Harvard, MIT, edX themselves, the French government, and various startups & universities currently running their own instances, or looking to create one.

Most of your work is published as free software (Open edX is released under the AGPL license, which requires clients to release modifications under the same license), and you would also contribute to the free software project, pushing most of your developments upstream through pull requests, contributing features, documentation or help on mailing-lists.

We welcome applicants of all genders and ethnicities.

      Basic requirements

      - DevOps experience, especially on Debian/Ubuntu servers, Terraform, Vault, Packer, Prometheus, ELK, Docker. We are building a modern infrastructure and having a strong DevOps presence on top of core software engineering skills is a big plus with us.

      - Cloud computing, like AWS or OpenStack

      - Databases: MySQL, MongoDB, PostgreSQL

      - Configuration management tools such as Ansible

      - 3+ years working with Python

      - Experience with unit testing

      - You feel comfortable working in a Linux environment, specifically Debian or Ubuntu

      - Experience with contributing to free software projects, and communicating within a free software community

      Additional skills

You would have to work with tasks from the following categories, but you would be able to pick up the skills on the job if you don't master this yet:

      - Experience with Python web frameworks, specifically Django

      - 3+ years of HTML, Javascript, and CSS (experience with React is a big plus!)

      - RabbitMQ, Redis & Elasticsearch

      - git source control

      - Mobile development (iOS and/or Android)

      - Managing clients & projects from beginning to completion (senior developer)

      - Public speaking at conferences (you would present a talk every year at the Open edX Con)

      About OpenCraft

We are a team of twenty developers, all working remotely from Europe, North & South America, Asia & Australia. You would arrive at a critical moment, as we scale up to handle increasing demand from clients on the edX platform. The company is not affiliated with edX, but contributing and working with them on various projects. This is a full time position, were you would be able to work remotely from anywhere you want, as long as you have a good internet connexion. : )

Central Copenhagen, Denmark, or remote with some travel to Copenhagen

Hafnium Labs, a startup working to create a brighter future by making chemical R&D faster and smarter, just created a seat at the table for a remarkable lead developer.

      A bit about us

3 minute intro from our pitch at Web Summit 2018: https://youtu.be/B75nez6gvvU?t=28220

Advances in chemistry change the world: From the drugs that save our lives, to the crops and energy solutions that will save our tomorrow. The world spends $350 billion annually on chemical R&D and new process plants to create a brighter future.

But progress is limited by slow and expensive trial-and-error experimentation and legacy enterprise software, incapable of incorporating state-of-the-art research and compute power.

We want to change that. Using technologies such as quantum chemistry and probabilistic machine learning, we have developed a set of breakthrough digital tools that help energy, chemicals and pharma companies develop greener products and more sustainable processes.

To succeed, we are a team of exceptional scientists with strong software development skills and industry experts that know our customers’ needs. But building the world’s most powerful platform for predicting chemistry is only half the equation.

Intuitive interfaces, robust products, and best practice test and release cycles are equally important. To create tools that our customers will love. And create a brighter future.

That’s why we want to offer you the chance to join us in creating something truly groundbreaking

You will join our leadership team, owning the development of our tools from an interface and software engineering perspective, playing a key role in bringing our game-changing technology to market.

Your charter has a number of components:

      • Own our interface design

      • Sign off on fully-featured products for shipping to multi-billion corporate customers, together with our CTO

      • Understand best practices for security and data protection and make necessary adjustments to accommodate the needs of our customers

      • Help shape and future-proof our tech stack, especially our front-end technologies

      • Lead by example to implement a culture of best practice QA and testing

      • Take active role in making high-level technical and architectural design decisions

      • Work closely with the team to implement new features and designs

      • Ensure integrity and organization of our code and database

We do not have a checklist of requirements that you need to fulfill. But you are expected to have a strong track record in software engineering and DevOps. Our tech stack includes databases (SQL), scripting and software development (C++, C#, Python, Julia), cloud computing (customer-relevant platforms / Big 4), as well as front-end (Typescript, React.js, Electron, Jupyter Notebooks for prototyping).

What we do require, is that you are passionately curious, learn fast, proactively take ownership, and that you love people and can see yourself as a leader. Whether you have previously led a development or desire the opportunity to take that step, we’d love to hear from you.

We expect you to be passionate about implementing a culture of high-quality and adaptable software and systems development using code reviews and testing.

This includes having a deep understanding of how to navigate the immediate benefit of a feature and the technical debt incurred by its implementation. We care deeply about our customers: Balancing how we serve them fast while maintaining the integrity and agility of our software is key to the success of our company and a responsibility you should feel comfortable with.

We have no expectations on scientific knowledge – but we do expect you to be passionate about learning more. You will work with our scientists and learn how we apply cutting-edge science and technologies to digitalize process and product design in pharma, energy and chemicals.

We offer a dynamic and flexible work environment and competitive salary.

Our immediate plan is to hire one additional dedicated software developer to help deliver on the charter above. We would expect you to contribute to defining the profile of that position.

Who you will be teaming up with

Hafnium Labs was founded in 2016 but our passion for developing digital tools to advance chemical research goes back 15 years, where our two co-founders started their chemical engineering studies together. Since then, Bjørn combined his software developer background with award-winning academic performance, to develop the technology we are now bringing to market. Jon spent 6 years with BCG helping corporates reach their top strategic goals – most recently as a manager in their AI-division.

You will be working in an international 10-person team of mostly PhDs in chemistry and physics on a mission to bring cutting-edge digital tools to industrial use. We are located in Copenhagen (Latin: Hafnia), from where the element Hafnium has its name.

Our DNA is passionately curious. We welcome all people and backgrounds, as long as they are driven by always wanting to learn more, build new solutions and improve what exists. This allows us to help our customers solve some of the hardest problems in the world – and create a brighter future.

      Let’s talk!

Contact us at [email protected] if this invitation has caught your attention and you want to learn more. You are welcome to include your resume and short cover letter explaining why you feel you would be a strong fit, but we are also happy to start the conversation without this.

    • About Almanac

Almanac’s mission is to democratize access to 21st century skills, insights, and tools so that no one is limited by knowledge in pursuit of their potential.

Through our own experiences, we’ve seen professionals at digital businesses waste too much time trying to find answers they can trust that help them do their jobs better. We believe this problem isn’t rooted in a lack of knowledge or expertise in the world, but in the deficiencies of tools we rely on to access, share, and improve how work gets done.

To make opportunity available to everyone, we’re building a knowledge platform that technology professionals can trust for documenting, distributing, and collaborating on how they work. We replace tools like Confluence and Google Docs to help individuals quickly access knowledge within and across companies that they can trust deeply.

We’ve been moving fast since we founded Almanac in January 2019. Since then, we’ve built and launched the initial version of our product, raised a $2M+ seed round from leading Silicon Valley investors, and grown our full-time team to 10 people.

We’ve seen deep demand from a broad cross section of customers, who are asking for a powerful platform that can help their employees be their best selves at work.

That’s where you come in: we are looking for a full-time full stack engineer with strong Rails and Javascript experience to join our team of talented coders and content creators.

      About the role

We’re looking for a hungry, talented engineer who wants to make a big impact at this early stage in our roadmap.

As a full stack engineer,  you will be responsible for building out the intuitive, interactive experiences that our customers need to organize their own documentation, as well as determining the backend architecture and endpoints that we need to support those features.
