      About Us

At Close, we're building the sales communication platform of the future. With our roots as the very first sales CRM to include built-in calling, we're leading the industry toward eliminating manual processes and helping companies to close more deals (faster). Since our founding in 2013, we've grown to become a profitable, 100% globally distributed team of 43 high-performing, happy people that are dedicated to building a product our customers love.

Our backend tech stack currently consists of Python Flask/Gunicorn web apps with our TaskTiger scheduler handling many of the backend asynchronous task processing. Our data stores include MongoDB, Postgres, Elasticsearch, and Redis. The underlying infrastructure runs on AWS using a combination of managed services like RDS and ElasticCache and non-managed services running on EC2 instances. All of our compute runs through CI/CD pipelines that build Docker images, run automated tests and deploy to our Kubernetes clusters. Our backend primarily serves a well-documented public API that our front-end JavaScript app consumes.

We ❤️open source – using dozens of open source projects with contributions to many of them, and released some of our own like ciso8601, LimitLion, SocketShark, TaskTiger, and more at https://github.com/closeio

      Job Opening: Backend Platform Engineer

We’re looking for someone to join our Platform Engineering team at Ferrum. Are you interested in building services to help hospitals detect and eliminate the millions of medical errors that occur every year? If so, read on.

      About You

You have experience solving challenges with microservices and scaling systems securely. You are comfortable building robust applications with Go or similar languages, Docker, PostgreSQL, Linux, and more in complex systems. Your significant experience interacting with and developing APIs provides a framework for creating both internal and external facing endpoints.

You love efficiency and automation. Your work at Ferrum will have a huge impact on the business. You understand that automation and infrastructure pays dividends. You take pride in creating tools to help the team perform at a high level and scale to new challenges.

You communicate and document everything. At Ferrum, we are a distributed remote team. A culture of sharing and documentation allows everyone to seamlessly work together. Further, for FDA and other healthcare regulatory approvals our documentation of development, testing, and validation must be airtight.

You take ownership of a project from ideation to delivery and maintenance. Your experience provides a framework for you to work independently on multiple initiatives as both the end-to-end owner and as a contributor to features. You take pride in creating services that are easy to debug and maintain.

You want to make a positive and lasting impact on the world. You understand that technology has the power to improve people’s lives and enrich our society. You see the inequality in your own community and around the world and you look to change it.

      What You Will Do

Ferrum is a distributed, fast-growing company so you will be wearing many hats and pitch in on different components and projects across the organization. That said, here are some examples of what you’ll do:

      • Scale up the platform and integrations between machine learning algorithms and the pipeline

      • Design and build the APIs interfacing the data pipeline and machine learning services

      • Building security tools to protect sensitive patient data throughout the data pipeline

      • Optimize bare-metal appliances to meet the high performance needs of the application

      • Provision infrastructure for the secure services coordinating on-premise and cloud-hosted services

      About Ferrum

Medical errors kill 6 million patients every year and are the third leading cause of death worldwide. Ferrum provides doctors with an automated quality management system and machine learning marketplace that ensures they catch and fix medical errors before they affect patient care. The service does not affect physician workflow, takes less than a day to install, and is delivered via a secure appliance so patient data never leaves the hospital. Ferrum has been deployed at hospitals in multiple countries around the world. We are a highly technical team led by experienced founders who have built, funded, and scaled successful healthcare technology companies previously.

      Salary: $95,000

      • You are proficient and comfortable in the AWS ecosystem.
      • You are adept at automating service and infrastructure configuration via industry standard tools (E.g. Chef, Terraform).
      • You have experience building continuous deployment and testing tools. (Docker, ECS, EKS, Kubernetes)
      • You design and build systems that work well and fail gracefully.
      • Security engineering is near and dear to your heart; you build with and advocate for a security mindset when implementing new features and infrastructure.

      About Us
Help Scout is made by roughly 110 people in 80+ cities around the world, all with a passion for helping others. We come from diverse backgrounds and are united by an enthusiasm for great products and delightful customer experiences. Help Scout launched in 2011 and today we have more than 10,000 paying customers in 140+ countries.

      Why Help Scout?
We're remote. It doesn’t matter if you’ve worked remotely before — we’ve been doing it for nearly a decade and are helping to write the playbook — we’re happy to show you the ropes. Most folks that get a taste of working in a "remote first" company have a hard time going back to the old way of doing things.

We’re passionate about diversity and inclusion. The data is abundantly clear about diverse teams being more successful, and we're dedicated to setting the team up for success. Today our leadership team is 62% women, and that's just the start. Here’s our 2019 report.

We're committed to SMBs for the long term. Help Scout is focused entirely on serving small and midsize businesses, typically up to 500 employees, because those companies view customer service differently. It's not a cost to be optimized, it's their most effective marketing tool and a key differentiator from the competition. We built Help Scout for companies that truly value being customer-centric (like us) and want a product that shares their values.

We're leaving the world better than we found it. Did you know Help Scout is a certified B Corporation, with a mission to give away at least 1% of our product through Help Scout for Good? Our company exists not just to help ourselves, but to invest in our team, our customers, our community, and our environment.

      Our commitment to you
We are an equal opportunity employer and are committed to building a company that embraces and celebrates diversity and inclusion. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status. We have read the studies and understand that diverse teams build better products, bring more perspective to the table, contribute to a company’s financial success and help foster a more inclusive environment for all employees, but the bottom line is that it's the right thing to do.

    • Bevy Labs (North or South America)
      Yesterday

At Bevy Labs we have deep experience building community from the ground up. We are building the best products to help companies manage and scale their user groups and event communities all over the world. We are a distributed company and strive to be as diverse as the people using our products.

      Bevy Labs Engineering

On the engineering team you are at the heart of the action, contributing to products that are actively used by world-class communities to create connections and experiences for their people.

We care about solving challenging problems to build products that make a real difference in the lives of our customers and their users. We also care about the craft of software engineering and how we can always become better at what we do, individually as well as collectively.

This means continuous integration, lots of automated test coverage, thorough reviews, good thinking and lots of experiments to discover new ways of improvement.

We are still small and nimble, but we are excited to grow.

      This position

Over time an area of specialization may emerge, but for the foreseeable future this is a position that will likely get in touch with many different areas of the product.

      You

You will fit in well with us, if you:

      • Reside in North or South America. Yes, we are a distributed company, but since we are still small, we like to minimize the time zone spread within the team.

      • Are an excellent communicator. In our small team, English is the official language. You need to be able to articulate complex ideas efficiently and effectively. When people do not share an office, it is essential to pay extra attention to communication.

      • Have a solid technical background. You should have at least 5 years of professional software development experience and be able to point to a track record of caring about software engineering practices.

      • Feel at home with Python/Django, JavaScript/React.js and the shell command line. You have been working in current cloud-based environments (such as AWS or GCP), but you don’t feel tied one platform and generally appreciate picking the “right tool for the job.”

      • Like to learn and strive to do so often. As a company we improve to the extent that our team does. It starts with each individual. Humility and an open mind help a lot.

      • Ideally know what it is like to work in distributed development teams, or better yet, thrive in them. It probably means you already know you don’t need a structured office environment with a manager who checks in on you once a day. Likewise, you know that you will do best from your home office.

We are proud to foster a workplace free from discrimination. We strongly believe that diversity of experience, perspectives, and background will lead to a better environment for our employees and a better product for our users and the communities we serve.

      Principals only please.

    • This Product Designer or Senior Product Designer position for our Compliance group is 100% remote.

      A brief overview:

GitLab is building an open-source, single application for the entire software development lifecycle—from project planning and source code management to CI/CD, monitoring, and security.

We started 2019 with a team of 15 Product Designers and Researchers. Right now, we’re in a period of growth, we’ve more than doubled the size of the Product Design team, and we’ve increased the number of GitLab employees from 400 to over 1100 this financial year, too.

At GitLab, we live and breathe open source principles. This means our entire handbook is online, and with a few clicks, you can find the details of future releases, check out our past releases, and see an overview of the product vision you’d contribute to when working here.

As a Product Designer at GitLab, you will be embedded in our Compliance group. It’s a complex area where you’ll be tasked with improving the controls we provide to support our customers to help them manage their compliance posture within GitLab. You'll be designing new features and experiences to improve the quality of life for customers who operate within regulated environments.

What you can expect in a Product Designer, Compliance role at GitLab:
      • You’ll be tasked with bettering our product for users who rely on our compliance features. The work you’ll do will enable greater adoption of our product within the enterprise space and impact users across a range of industries, from healthcare to manufacturing.
      • You’ll collaborate with a Product Manager to define the priorities, roadmap, and overall strategy for the future of Compliance within our product.
      • You'll work alongside Product Managers and UX Researchers to understand the needs of our users to shape how compliance features underpin the work within regulated industries.
      • You’ll come together with our Technical Writers to better our compliance documentation and in-product content.
      • You’ll collaborate with cross-functional partners to uncover and understand the complexities and limitations of our current compliance tools, advocating for the end-user in all areas, including documentation, ease of use, and visualization of key messaging.
      • You’ll utilize wireframes, prototypes, user flows, mockups, high-fidelity visual designs, or any other artifacts you believe are necessary to convey your design thinking and ideas.
      • You’ll engage with our user base and the wider GitLab community to understand their pain points and work toward long-term fixes that enable them to succeed with their goals.
      • You’ll undertake usability testing to validate your thinking, collaborate with our UX Researchers on generative research, and you’ll share findings with the wider team in our research repo, ensuring recommendations are communicated effectively across our organization.
      • You’ll contribute compliance patterns to our Design System, alongside the rest of the UX department, and the GitLab community as a whole.
Projects you might work on in our Compliance group:

You’ll spend your time at GitLab collaborating with a cross-functional team. You may work on features that bring compliance checks into merge requests, a dashboard to give users insight into their overall compliance controls, or even build features that enable code to be audited, traceable, and reported on. To be successful, you’ll consider many edge cases while understanding the needs of a wide range of personas across a breadth of industries. Outside of work on our compliance tools, you’ll also contribute to our Pajamas design system and design culture here at GitLab.

      You should apply if:
      • You’ve got experience designing developer tooling, enterprise software, or complex web applications that are built for technical users.
      • You’ve got some experience designing compliance experiences, or knowledge of the compliance industry.
      • You’ve got experience working on product strategy and product design for a complex enterprise application or SaaS tool.
      • You enjoy getting involved in research and usability testing, and you continually look to improve your user research abilities.
      • You want to design for a complex product with technical users who have continually evolving needs.
      • You’ve got experience applying your product design skills across user research, UX strategy, wireframing, prototyping, product strategy, and visual design, within a complex domain.
      • The idea of playing a key part in the evolution of our Pajamas Design System is truly exciting to you.
      • You understand frontend code or the limitations of frontend technology. You can demonstrate this through your hands-on coding skills with HTML/CSS/JS, your knowledge of Git, or by showing us you have a deep understanding of the needs of engineers you’ve worked with previously.
      • Our values of collaboration, results, efficiency, diversity, iteration, and transparency resonate with you.
      • You'll thrive in an environment where self-learning and self-service is encouraged and instilled as a part of our culture.

The culture here at GitLab is something we’re incredibly proud of. Because GitLabbers are currently located in over 60 different countries, you’ll spend your time collaborating with kind, talented, and motivated colleagues from across the globe.

Some of the benefits you’ll be entitled to vary by the region or country you’re in. However, all GitLabbers are fully remote and receive a "no ask, must tell" paid-time-off policy, where we don’t count the number of days you take off annually. You can work incredibly flexible hours, enabled by our asynchronous approach to communication. We’ll also help you set up your home office environment, pay for your membership to a co-working space and contribute to the travel costs associated with meeting other GitLab team members across the world. Also, every year or so, we’ll invite you to our Contribute event.

In a community collaboration led by D2iQ, Google, Docker, and CloudFoundry we've developed the Container Storage Interface (CSI) specification. The CSI specification and the related implementations to provide cloud-like storage features in DC/OS are key to D2iQ’s strategic goals.

We are looking for experienced Software Engineers to help us maintain, design, and develop our DC/OS Storage Service (DSS). The DSS is built in Go and acts as an orchestration layer between CSI plugins and Mesos. Mesos itself, and therefore the parts relevant to its CSI integration, is written in C++.  We also develop two CSI plugins that, combined with DSS, provides local storage to DC/OS workloads on top of LVM. • This Software Engineer in Test position for our Secure team is 100% remote.

      A brief overview:

GitLab is building an open-source, single application for the entire software development lifecycle—from project planning and source code management to CI/CD, monitoring, and security.

Right now, we’re in a period of growth, we’ve more than doubled the size of the Quality department through 2019, and we’ve increased the number of GitLab employees from 400 to over 1100 this financial year, too.

At GitLab, we live and breathe open source principles. This means our entire handbook is online, and with a few clicks, you can find the details of future releases, check out our past releases, and see an overview of the product vision you’d contribute to when working here.

As a Software Engineer in Test at GitLab, you will be embedded in our Secure stage group. You’ll be responsible for baking in a culture of quality across the categories found within our Secure team, expanding on our existing test automation frameworks and test coverage across a range of configurations, and leading our test automation efforts on new features within our Secure categories as part of a dedicated cross-functional team.

What you can expect in a Software Engineering in Test, Secure role at GitLab:
      • As part of our Secure team you’ll work on test automation issues related to the Quality department, the Secure stage group, and the entire GitLab product. The work you’ll do will be transparent and open to the GitLab community.
      • You’ll develop new tests and tools for our GitLab.com frontend, backend APIs and services, and low-level systems like geo-replication, CI/CD, and load balancing.
      • You’ll identify and drive the adoption of best practices in code health, testing, testability, and maintainability.
      • You’ll work with engineers to define and implement mechanisms to inject testing earlier into the software development process.
      • You’ll configure automated tests to execute reliably and efficiently in our CI/CD environments.
      • You’ll work 1:1 with a Product Manager, and with the wider product and development teams to understand how new features should be tested and to contribute to automated tests for these new features.
      • You’ll work in an environment where we aim to have a 1:10 ratio of Software Engineer in Test to Engineers.
      • As an SET, you'll have the opportunity to become and expert in security testing-related techniques and concerns.
Projects you might work on in our Secure stage group:

You’ll spend your time collaborating with a cross-functional team who are embedded in our Secure stage group. You could work on projects where you’ll be tasked with moving our security products from their own standalone QA process to the GitLab QA review application, growing our test coverage across our security products, and implementing security testing processes.

      You should apply if:
      • You’ve got at least a few years of experience developing in Ruby or working on a Ruby on Rails application.
      • You’ve got some experience with security testing or an interest in the security field. To demonstrate this, you could be familiar with SQL injections, cross-site scripting, or URL manipulation. Alternatively, you may have been involved in OWASP or security hacking sessions. This list is by no means exhaustative, it's here to give you an insight into the type of securty-testing experience we can look for.
      • You’ve got a working knowledge of Docker.
      • You’ve worked with industry-standard CI tools like GitLab CI, Jenkins, Bamboo, or Circle CI for example.
      • You’re comfortable with Selenium-based test automation tools like Capybara.
      • You’ve got experience with Git and its command line.
      • You’re interested in growing your knowledge and skills in Test Environment Provisioning and Configuring (Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes, GCP / AWS).
      • You know about clean code and the test pyramid, and champion these concepts.
      • Our values of collaboration, results, efficiency, diversity, iteration, and transparency resonate with you.
      • You'll thrive in an environment where self-learning and self-service is encouraged and instilled as a part of our culture.

We're aware the confidence gap exists so we want to encourage you to apply even if you do not match all of the requirements exactly. The above list is intended to show the kinds of experience and qualities we're looking for. It is not a complete list of pre-required skills.

The culture here at GitLab is something we’re incredibly proud of. Because GitLabbers are currently located in over 51 different countries, you’ll spend your time collaborating with kind, talented, and motivated colleagues from across the globe.

Here at Crisp, we value the strength in teamwork, and strongly believe that it’s the key to Crisp’s success. By bringing together bright, motivated creators, wherever they live and work, we are leveraging humanity’s diversity of experience and background in order to understand the challenges facing our food supply, and solve them together. Come join us, and help build the type of business you’d like to be a part of.

We are a socially conscious, distributed team. We give you the opportunity to solve challenges in the global food industry while living where you’re most comfortable and working in areas where you can help foster and grow the community that you are a part of.

As a member of the first few engineering teams at Crisp you have will have the unique opportunity to take products from concept to production as we build towards our goal of becoming the global technology platform for the food industry. You will work closely with the co-founder team and be part of not just defining and implementing our technology and product strategy, but also the way we work together as we scale our company.

      Signs of a great candidate

      • Collaborative. You know that your colleagues’ perspectives will make our customers successful. Similarly, you use your strengths to help us grow together. You propose ways for us to be more engaged and successful with our customers.
      • Customer focused. Our customers are at the forefront of your day. You prioritize our customers’ voice to ensure their needs are met.
      • Ambitious, curious, and resourceful. You are innately curious, and you aren’t afraid to work hard. You are self driven, you take direction well but are able to be creative to find results on your own when asked. You are driven to succeed because your hard work and results make you proud.
      • Disciplined and reliable. We are a distributed company and you enjoy the benefits of working distributed while consistently delivering what you have committed to. When you hit a snag, you communicate and reset expectations early.
      • Appreciative of honest feedback. You know that the best way to learn and grow is through constructive feedback delivered kindly. You view feedback given to you as an opportunity to get better and strive to do the same for others.
      • Work smarter and harder.  You often identify a problem, create a solution and bring it to a state of completion - with others, or even on your own. You find ways of eliminating or automating stuff that is uninteresting or wasteful.

      Crisp’s Backend Tech Stack

      • Statically typed, modern languages. We use Kotlin and TypeScript.  Knowledge of these specific technologies is not a requirement. If you’re willing to learn, we’re willing to help you along the way.
      • Continuous deployment. Code is never far from being deployed to production, because if it’s not in production, it’s not solving problems in the real world. Our branch time spans are short, and features under development are hidden behind feature flags.
      • JVM based back-end. The JVM has a robust, rich ecosystem of libraries and tools that we’re leveraging to help us focus on building solutions, not tool-chains.
      • Cloud first. As a services offering in the 21st century, the cloud isn’t the future, it’s the present. We’re fully invested in using the features offered by our cloud provider in order to minimize technical debt and maximize productivity.
      • Micro-services. Not for the sake of the buzz, but when they make sense. By adopting a modern, thoughtful services architecture we’re able to scale organizationally, reduce technical debt, and maintain a high, sustained velocity.
      • Start-up mode.  The team is still small, and the product is fresh.  You’ll be able to exert a large amount of influence, and contribute to decisions that will determine the future of the product and the team.

We are building a team of developers with a breadth of combined experiences so that we can collaboratively build great products. There are no hard requirements on specific background, experience or geographical location. Instead we’re looking for individuals that are capable, reliable, and hoping to grow along with us. Do you have strengths you can share? If so, we’d love to hear from you!

      A brief overview:

GitLab is building an open-source, single application for the entire software development lifecycle—from project planning and source code management to CI/CD, monitoring, and security.

We started 2019 with a team of 15 Product Designers and Researchers. Right now, we’re in a period of growth, we’ve more than tripled the size of the UX Research team, and we’ve increased the number of GitLab employees from 400 to over 1100 this financial year, too.

At GitLab, we live and breathe open source principles. This means our entire handbook is online, and with a few clicks, you can find the details of future releases, check out our past releases, and see an overview of the product direction you’d contribute to when working here.

As a UX Researcher at GitLab, you will be embedded into our Manage section, overseeing user research for a range of users and use cases. You’ll work on high-traffic, ever-maturing product categories, such as our value stream analytics features, access management capabilities, and compliance solutions. The work you’ll be overseeing will be impactful and highly visible to millions of our users across the globe.

What you can expect in a UX Researcher role at GitLab:
      • You'll need to proactively identify generative user research projects within our Manage stage.
      • You’ll collaborate with other UX Researchers to identify research studies that will require you to work across our different stage groups.
      • You'll partner with Product Managers and Product Designers to execute research projects within their respective groups.
      • You’ll guide, and where necessary train, Product Designers and Product Managers in how to undertake evaluative research projects and in how to create strategic deliverables such as journey maps, storyboards, competitive analyses, and personas.
      • You’ll need to have a high-level understanding of the features, technical constraints, and competitor landscape found in our Plan, Manage, and Create stage groups. Working knowledge of the end-to-end GitLab product will also be required too.
      • You’ll be comfortable evangelizing research. We aim to share user insights with both the broader organization and externally.
      • You’ll do this to increase empathy while helping the team to continue to grow the maturity of our UX practice.
      • As a Senior, you’ll lead strategic user research initiatives that span multiple-stage groups or across our entire product.
      • You’ll mentor UX Researchers, both inside and outside of your product area.
      • You’ll actively contribute to our UX Research processes, our documentation, and our research repository. You’ll need to be comfortable working in the open, collaborating with our community, and approaching research in a transparent manner.
      • You’ll engage in social media efforts, including writing blog articles and responding on Twitter, as appropriate.
      • As we’re growing, you’ll interview potential UX Research candidates.
      • You’ll help our Research Coordinator to build on our First Look participant recruitment platform.
      Projects you might work on:

You will be leading generative research projects within our Manage teams. You'll be leading research studies on analytics features, two-factor authentication flows, and permissioning. You’ll also support Product Designers and Product Managers who are doing evaluative research and usability testing in these areas. The users you’ll be working with are in a range of job roles, from Product Designers and Project Managers to System Admins and Software Engineers. At GitLab, we work using Agile methodologies and ship features monthly.

You know you are doing a good job as a UX Researcher when:
      • You collaborate effectively with our Product Designers and Product Managers.
      • You can quickly build rapport with GitLab's users.
      • You contribute ideas for feature improvements based on your research findings.

      • You've got experience doing research alongside a product design team.
      • You'll bring excellent planning and organizational skills as you'll need to manage multiple competing priorities.
      • You are experienced applying research methodologies in a remote setting.
      • You've mentored other UX Researchers.
      • Our values of collaboration, results, efficiency, diversity, iteration, and transparency resonate with you.
      • You'll thrive in an environment where self-learning and self-service is encouraged and instilled as a part of our culture.
It would be an added bonus if:
      • You've worked for a fast-paced startup or high-growth scale-up.
      • You have led user research efforts within analytics tooling, access mangament features, or on products within heavily-regulated industries.
      • You have a degree in psychology, human factors, human-computer interaction or related field.
      • You’re experienced with open-source tools or working in an open-source organization.

We’ll also help you set up your home office environment, pay for your membership to a co-working space and contribute to the travel costs associated with meeting other GitLab employees across the world. #LI-WN1

    • Hi-de-ho stranger. Biteable here. Let’s be friends. We need a fabulous new someone in our life to write Wordpress code and make our site ba-ba-beautiful. We’re friendly and flexible. And we totally understand if you come complete with kids, pets, side-hustles, and other #adulting stuff.

      All about you

You Wordpress with finesse. Some people make an awful mess when they write code for the ‘press. This isn’t you. You’re an artisan. You write code with elegance. And you’ve got years of exquisite, custom Wordpress builds to back it up.

Design is your superpower. While you’re great at coding widgets and pages, your passion is for making them stunning. You’re a whizz at translating brand guidelines into beautiful things. And you’re comfortable sipping lattes with studio and design teams.

You know Timber isn’t just for lumberjacks. And you know how to use it when expanding custom themes.

You know your way around Javascript ecosystems. Like Gulp. Or other ones that aren’t named here ‘cause no one briefed the copywriter.

You’ve got the skills. In PHP and Javascript, that is. And if you haven’t already, you’re into learning Typescript.

You say ‘yes’ to CSS. You don’t brag about it, but you’ve received plenty of compliments for your CSS skills.

You’re a Git. But, in a good way. You’ve used Git and Github so much that it feels like a second home.

You know what AWS is. And you’ve probably deployed Wordpress on it. If you haven’t, you’re open to learning.

You’re most of the above. But not necessarily all. You can feel in your tummy if this is the right job for you.

You’re committed to learning. You love filling your head with new stuff and taking on new projects that expand your horizons.

      All about the role

You’ll manage your own schedule. While you’ll need to maintain regular work hours (for the benefit of your team), you’ll be free to lay your day out the way you like it.

Need to get the kids from school or take your granny to the shops? No problem. And you can work from wherever you want, be that your kitchen or one of our offices.

You’ll play a valuable role. You’ll lead on code and graphic design for the Biteable Wordpress site. You’ll work closely with our product designers to synchronize design with our product site.

You’ll work collaboratively with the marketing and content teams. Together, you’ll roll out content and functionalities that wow users and boost conversions.

You’ll share code ownership with your playmates in the development team. Together, you’ll maintain a robust code review process and troubleshoot any thorny issues that crop up from time-to-time.

      All about us

We are Biteable, a tech start-up that makes (jaw-dropping) videos possible for everyone. We stand apart in our market thanks to our dedication to studio-quality content and our passion for simplicity.

Since our launch in 2014 we’ve:

      • Created a community of over 5 million users
      • Rendered 9.6 million videos
      • Raised $3.9 million in venture capital

We’re growing fast and have offices in Melbourne and Hobart, Australia, with remote team members scattered around the world. We are informal, structurally flat, and fun to work with.

      All about our culture

We are committed to the happiness of our team. We welcome people of different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. We like it when everyone feels supported and free to create.

Our team members genuinely care about each other and define themselves as rigorous, respectful, open, supportive, honest, and egoless. Here are a few quotes that we didn’t make up:

“I’m thankful for the flexibility Biteable gives me around my family commitments. I really like that my team is open to new ideas and processes. And I enjoy that I get to work on a variety of problems with a mix of people with diverse areas of expertise.”

“The development team is a great group of people. They’re smart and interested in doing high-quality work, but foster a social and supportive atmosphere, too.”

“Biteable's team of smart, funny, engaged and caring people makes my work here enjoyable, every day. Being close to decisions and decision-makers helps me make an impact on our work.”

      How to apply

We want you to start soon, so our application process is quick. To apply, dispatch your CV, portfolio, and a short cover letter about why you and Biteable fit together like Matt Mullenweg and Mike Little.

We’ll review it and get back to you quick smart. We’ll then do two rounds of informal interviews. If it feels right for all of us, you’ll be on board faster than you can say ‘third-party plugin’.

    • Join us in our mission to make website development fun by making it simple

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the team dedicated to driving Gatsby’s open source project. Join us in our mission to make website development fun by making it simple.

      About us

Gatsby is a remote-first, community-focused team working to build a high-performance, fun to use, accessible, and astonishingly flexible presentation layer for any data source. Our core values include transparency (our work is public most of the time); creating a safe, high-trust team; building incredible developer experiences; maintaining a healthy working environment; and helping deliver web experiences that feel amazing to use on every device and connection type.

      Details of the role

      Type of Work: Full-time employee

      Location: Remote

      Why we need you

Gatsby is the future of the web, and the web is an incredibly diverse ecosystem. This means we need leaders who can intuitively appreciate the value that the commercial services we build offer customers. The open source team is expanding rapidly and we need someone with a deep understanding of the very cool technology, but an equally profound sense of empathy required to grow both individual contributors and future leaders in this critical part of our company.

      Why this is interesting

Gatsby is a wildly popular open-source framework that is changing the architecture of the web. The open-source team is responsible for driving the roadmap for the large and complex codebase that is Gatsby.js. Between their own contributions and the community, they merge nearly 500 pull requests in a typical month. You’ll help lead the team in not only tackling key technological challenges, but also bolstering and focusing community contributions.

      Your responsibilities

You will be responsible for people, projects, and processes. You will partner with your team and peers to:

      • Foster an inclusive environment through empathy, not just inside engineering, but across all the teams in Gatsby, and beyond to the open source community.

      • Wrangle many timezones and introduce remote work best practices, as you will lead a geographically diverse team.

      • Exercise good judgement in interacting with the enthusiastic community, as an exemplar for your team in this area.

      • Partner with Product and Design to find the best blend of quality, agility, and work/life sanity.

Make sure your team is fully equipped for their job, including:

      • Context - make sure they know what is happening outside engineering

      • Vision - make sure they know what it coming next, even if we’re not there yet

      • Skills - ensure that each team member grows and feels confident in delivery

      • Tools - choose and evolve the dev environment (with the team’s input)

      • Processes - hand-in-hand with tools, make sure that we’re continuously evolving our planning and dev approach to have just enough structure to keep us on track

      • Empower your team members by offering them clear ownership of technical challenges in a world where you and other leaders are still wearing many hats and finding the ones with the best fit.

      • Collaborate with other engineering managers to evolve the management practices at Gatsby. We’re all learning more every day!

This might be you if you….

      • Have successfully managed people, including recruiting and hiring, coaching, mentoring, evaluating, and promoting.

      • Have experience working with (and ideally contributing to, or managing) open source communities and products.

      • Have strong communication skills, verbal and written.

      • Genuinely enjoy helping people, both inside the company and out.

      • Have a consistent track record of delivering high-quality software in regular, iterative releases through coordinating a remote team.

      • Are able to coordinate and work with teams and stakeholders across the organization, and even beyond the company, including effective project management skills in an environment where you may not control many of the variables.

      • Have previous experience with React, Node.js, and GraphQL. Gatsby is built on React, Node, and GraphQL, so you should be experienced with usage and the syntax.

      • Have strong empathy and a willingness to define the nuances of team roles (including your own!) as you go.

The best parts of this job

      • The people and culture of a team genuinely invested in building something great.

      • You’ll be helping curate one of the most popular, fastest growing open source frameworks in the world.

      • You’ll be leading a group of supportive, talented, and friendly people towards delivering a great framework and developer experience.

      • You’ll have the opportunity (even expectation) to constantly learn and innovate, in both tech approaches and process definition.

      • Your role will be key to making Gatsby the next way to build on the web—and a technology that enables the next billion internet users.

      • You will get to look back on this time as the “early, exciting days” of Gatsby. You’ll get to watch members of your team become future leaders and luminaries in a space that isn’t fully defined or formed yet.

The worst parts of this job (maybe)

      • The community and our team aren’t always operating as equals, and don’t always have perfectly aligned motivations. Your job includes the unenviable task of helping us figure out the right focus in a variety of complex situations, and with a wide range of (understandable, but sometimes mutually exclusive) community expectations.

      • We’re all still figuring a lot of stuff out. Things can feel unstructured or messy. Part of your job is to smooth out what we collectively don’t like. And that can be hard.

      • The company is growing fast, which means lots of people wearing lots of hats, and sometimes exchanging them for new ones. Doing this while protecting a team (or individual’s) sense of ownership and security is hard. And it’s part of this job. Sorry.

      • Product and strategic direction can change. We’re building a whole new area of growth in an absolutely huge potential market. Absorbing (and/or pushing back as you see fit) that change so your team doesn’t feel unnecessary churn is also hard. And also part of this job. Still sorry.

      Benefits

      • Unlimited vacation policy, with a minimum of 15 days paid vacation time

      • Amazing health, dental, and vision insurance for you and your family (US only)

      • Skip the commute with remote work

      • 3 months of paid parental leave covering both adoption and foster placement

      • Fly to cool locations 3x/year for company-wide meetups

      • Stock options in a fast-growing startup

      • Gatsby Sabbatical: 4 weeks of paid vacation after 4 years tenure

      Equal Opportunity Statement

Gatsby is an equal opportunity employer. We eagerly seek applicants of diverse backgrounds and hire without regard to race, color, gender identity, religion, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, physical abilities (or disability), age, sexual orientation, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. Cultivating inclusivity and diversity is a top priority.

      Salary: $110,000 - $160,000

At Stack Overflow, our mission is to serve developers. Whether we’re helping developers get public answers to their questions, work more efficiently with their team, or find a new job, we build products that make millions of developers’ lives better every day. We’re looking for a Product Manager to join our team, working on our flagship public Q&A product. http://stackoverflow.com/

Stack Overflow Q&A today has over 17 million question and answer pairs, sees 50 million unique visitors a month, and has been visited over 12 billion times in the past decade.  You’ll be leading one of the largest, most engaging products on the internet. While we’re proud of how far we’ve come, we need your help to make Stack Overflow an attractive community for the next 10 million developers.  You’ll have a broad mandate from new user onboarding, acquisition, and core Q&A functionality to user privileges, reputation, moderator tools and much more.

You’ll have the opportunity to do a lot. You can expect during your first year:

      • First Month: Get onboarded and brought up to speed on our current plans. You’ll spend a lot of time learning about our products, building rapport with the product, engineering, marketing, and community teams, and contributing to small features.
      • Next 3 Months: Acquire a deep understanding through past and new user research of the biggest opportunities to serve different segments of our users.  This will include specific focus on improving the experience for highly active users and moderators, providing high quality tools and features they need to contribute to Stack Overflow in a meaningful way.  You’ll build prototypes, talk with users, write specs and pitch projects to your team and the company.
      • Next 8 months: You can expect to start taking a leadership role developing the long term roadmap for the public Q&A sites. You’ll be involved not just in product development, but in defining long term strategy, improving our processes, and advocating for all developers that use Stack Overflow.

We like to work in public. Not only does that mean being open within the company about what the product team is building, we also try and bring the developer community in as soon as we’re able.  Here are some examples of how we have done this historically:

We’re looking to hire the best person wherever you are in the world. We work remotely so you can work from home and interact with the team over Google Hangouts and chat, usually during US or European working hours. We have offices in New York, London and Munich, so if you’re in (or want to relocate to) one of those cities you can, and our offices are awesome.

      Skills & Requirements:

      What you’ll do:

      • Help set the product strategy for the public Q&A sites, and lead the team that is executing on that strategy
      • Contribute to detailed user research and customer segmentation to understand the core issues developers care about and core issues that cause them not to contribute
      • Propose new products and features and pitch them to the company and community
      • Start with high-level goals and turn them into detailed functional specs, and work with developers and designers to create rapid prototypes
      • Define and monitor metrics to determine the effectiveness of features, and administer split tests to learn whether a change is an improvement
      • Interact with our community of developers to gather ideas and feedback
      • Support go-to-market strategies with the marketing and community teams

      What we want to see:

      • A track record of coming up with ideas for, building, and shipping web software
      • Minimum of 4 years as a product manager/product owner
      • A deep understanding of Stack Overflow and other Stack Exchange network sites
      • Has worked on a community based product or participates in online communities
      • Excellent spec-writing and UX skills
      • An understanding of the technical implications of what you ask the team to do
      • Excellent telecommuting skills. Even if you work from one of our offices, many of our team members are remote
      • Experience with usability testing and A/B tests
      • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly through written word (whether that's meta or forum posts, specs, blogging, or anything else)
      What we value:
      • Servant Leadership: The best managers lead by empowering and inspiring their team to do their best work.
      • Collaboration: The best products are created when people from different backgrounds and disciplines work closely together in an environment of respect and trust.
      • Transparency: Trust is built on openness and transparency. If there is not a good reason to keep it a secret, we share it. For example, we share our complete engineering salary formula.
      • Inclusion: We do our best work when we can be our whole selves at work. We’re committed to policies and benefits that support people, and managers who foster an open and inclusive culture.

When you apply...  Please include an up-to-date resume, and a cover letter explaining why you’re interested in working at Stack Overflow.

      What you’ll get in return:
      • Ability to work remotely, with flexible hours
      • 20 days paid vacation + holidays
      • Completely free health insurance - no copay, no premiums (US residents)
      • Generous parental leave (10-16 weeks at 100% pay), family care leave, and unlimited sick days
      • Employees will never be poked with a sharp stick

If you want to work remotely…. We’ll help you set up a great home office, with an ergonomic chair, standing desk, and any other equipment you need to do your job.

If you want to work in our office… You’ll get your own private office in our headquarters in New York City, and enjoy additional benefits like free lunch every day prepared by our own in-house chefs, transportation reimbursement, and all the espresso you can drink.

As one of the first members of the data science team at Crisp you have will have a unique opportunity to turn previously scattered and inconsistently structured data into immediately actionable food industry insights to reduce waste, increase freshness and much more.

You have a proven track record of reading data and making solid conclusions. You know both the art and science of analytics - not only do you know how to find answers in the data, you also know which questions should be asked in the first place and what data can help us further bolster our conclusions. You love engaging with customers, learning about their challenges and then diving into the data to see how to solve them!

      Crisp’s Data Science Tech Stack

      • Modern libraries and frameworks.  We use Python with Pandas and Numpy for data science in production.  We use technologies like Jupyter and R during EDA.

      • Diverse technologies and algorithms, solving real world problems.  At Crisp you’ll work with a wide range of technologies and algorithms on a daily basis, in a focused effort to solve large scale problems.

      • Continuous deployment. Code is never far from being deployed to production, because if it’s not in production, it’s not solving problems in the real world. Our branch time spans are short, and features under development are hidden behind feature flags.
