      About Us

      At Close, we're building the sales communication platform of the future.       Our backend tech stack currently consists of Python Flask/Gunicorn web apps with our TaskTiger scheduler handling many of the backend asynchronous task processing. The underlying infrastructure runs on AWS using a combination of managed services like RDS and ElasticCache and non-managed services running on EC2 instances. All of our compute runs through CI/CD pipelines that build Docker images, run automated tests and deploy to our Kubernetes clusters. Our backend primarily serves a well-documented public API that our front-end JavaScript app consumes.

      About You

      We're looking for an experienced full-time Software Engineer to join our engineering team. Someone who has a solid understanding of web technologies and wants to help design, implement, launch, and scale major systems and user-facing features.

      You should have senior level experience (~5 years) building modern back-end systems, with at least 3 years of that experience using Python.

      You also have around five years experience using MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, or similar data stores. You have significant experience designing, scaling, debugging, and optimizing systems to make them fast and reliable. You have experience participating in code reviews and providing overall code quality suggestions to help maintain the structure and quality of the codebase.

      You’re comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a small and talented team where you're supported in your efforts to grow professionally. You are able to manage your time well, communicate effectively and collaborate in a fully distributed team.

      ABOUT THE ROLE

      The Itemize Backend Engineer will maintain and innovate on existing back-end modules and data stores, R&D on new methodologies with our core IP development team, and build up our serverless (lambda) Node.js APIs to support new functional requirements. Responsibilities will include:

      • Lead, design, and develop our core Javascript-based APIs powering our client-facing and internal applications

      About the Product

      Ceros provides multiple products and the Devops team supports them all.

      The core Ceros (https://ceros.com) product is comprised of multiple single-page applications (Admin, Studio, and Player) written in Javascript using libraries like jQuery, Require, and Backbone.  It is supported by a REST backend built in PHP. The Ceros Studio is built around the HTML5 Canvas element.

      We’re in the midst of migrating both the frontend and backend to Typescript.

      The infrastructure uses Docker, Jenkins, and Cloudformation. We use a myriad of AWS offerings. We also use Okta for authentication and Fastly as a CDN.  We’re eying a migration to Terraform and Kubernetes.

      The DevOps team also supports Markup (https://markup.io), which is built in React and Typescript on the frontend and Typescript on the backend.  Its infrastructure uses Terraform and Kubernetes on AWS.

      About the Job

      As a DevOps focused engineer, your typical day-to-day involves:

      • Evaluating, testing and building new infrastructure tools and technology

      • Writing detailed planning documents on stories so your teammates can assess the proposed approaches to a story, offer suggestions of approaches missed, and we can all agree on where to go from there

      • Writing maintainable code (probably goes without saying)

      • Carrying out and being on the receiving end of intense code review sessions from your peers who hold your work (and their own) to the highest of standards

      • Helping the full stack development teams write infrastructure code, and reviewing said code

      • Writing clear documentation around infrastructure code and development tooling so that it’s easy to understand, use, and modify

      Content Marketing Specialist 

      Fastly’s Content Marketing Team is responsible for advancing Fastly’s story through thoughtfully crafted content for programs and projects across all markets and verticals.       • You will manage a part of our existing products. Your ownership will ramp up significantly as you learn.

      Lambda has just successfully completed its Series B fundraising round with premier tier venture investors. We are operating in 40+ states across the US today and eyeing international expansion opportunities. 

      This is a student-facing role on the Instruction team, reporting into to a Program Manager. As a full-time Instructor, you’ll be a core part of our Data Science program, responsible for delivering curriculum, and collaborating cross-functionally with curriculum development and student operations to provide a high-quality experience for our students. Your role in collaboration is as the subject-matter expert, helping steer efforts in a way that aligns with our students mastering Data Science.

      What You'll Do:
      • Teach guided projects in PST morning hours, working closely with Team Leads and monitoring overall student participation and performance
      • Review curriculum with cohort Team Leads (TLs) and Section Leads (SLs) so they can better support students in absorbing the instruction content
      • Deliver curriculum that produces job market ready graduates
      • Collaborate with curriculum team on the development of Data Science curriculum, providing strong subject-matter expertise to ensure curriculum reflects current and robust Data Science practices
      • Coordinate cross functionally across multiple teams to contribute to the goals and initiatives of the Data Science program in conjunction with learning leadership plans and objectives
      • Provide strong subject-matter expertise in Data Science, including foundational mathematics/statistics, practical software and data pipeline development, and current techniques such as neural networks and NLP
      • Report to the Data Science Program Manager, providing details of status and student performance for the portion of curriculum you are responsible for

      What You'll Need:
      • If your highest education is High School Diploma or GED, you are required to have 5+ years of working experience in the Data Science industry
      • If your highest education is a College Degree (proof required), you are required to have 3+ years of working experience in the technical field
      • General Python skills, and experience with the Python Data Science ecosystem (pandas, numpy, scikit-learn, etc.)
      • Strong subject-matter expertise in Data Science - being broadly aware of practices, and knowing at least a few subtopics in depth
      • Experience in teaching and/or curriculum design
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable and compelling in public speaking situations
      • Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals
      • Self-starting with the ability to effectively work autonomously with little oversight
      • Intelligent, dedicated, flexible with a willingness to experiment
      • Have an interest in keeping up with the latest information in your field

      Bonus If You:
      • Are familiar with Zoom, Slack, or Notion 
      • Have a well known blog or high traffic Youtube channel focusing on Data Science
      • Have presented at or have run local tech meet-ups
      • Have prior rapid growth start up experience
