Mar 14, 2024 - Hyperhippo is hiring a remote Senior Product Analyst. 💸 Salary: $103,000 - $115,000 / year. 📍Location: Canada.

THE OPPORTUNITY
As our Senior Product Analyst, you specialize in evaluating the performance of the features and live operations initiatives of our mobile games. You play a pivotal role responsible for analyzing player behaviour, evaluating game performance, and providing actionable insights and recommendations to optimize strategies and feature development. Leveraging your expertise in data analysis along with your experience, understanding of player behaviour and mobile game mechanics, you will contribute to creating engaging player experiences and driving long-term retention and monetization strategies.

We aim to use decision science to move the business towards a unified strategy, in a way that minimizes time spent on low-impact analysis and maximizes high-impact, data-driven decisions. All data analysts are expected to use a combination of statistics, analysis and business intelligence, machine learning, and data science to answer business questions and deliver insight and recommendations for internal stakeholders across Hyper Hippo to increase market value and deliver world class products.
A SENIOR PRODUCT ANALYST'S IMPACT
Data Analysis and Insights:
  • Utilize data analytics and methodologies to extract meaningful insights from player behaviour, in-game metrics, and performance data
  • Monitor company Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) and help identify, build, and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to player engagement, retention, and monetization
  • Carry out analytical research on product issues, validate hypotheses, design and implement A/B tests, experiments, and optimizations, and present clear analytical reports to enhance game features, events, and monetization mechanics
  • Identify trends, patterns, and opportunities within the game ecosystem to inform decision-making for stakeholders
  • Monitor and analyze how product changes affect product metrics and look into unusual changes in metrics
  • Using insights gleaned from your analysis, suggest changes to improve in-game metrics
  • Collaborate with data engineers to ensure new products/features are developed with optimal data schema & event guidelines
Live Operations Optimization:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams which include product managers, live operations managers, producers, game designers, software developers, player experience specialists, marketing and localization specialists, as well as other data team members, to develop the live operations strategies for our mobile games.
  • Analyze the performance of live content schedules, promotions, CRM initiatives and events based on data-driven insights and player feedback
  • Analyze the competitive landscape for our mobile games and conduct benchmarking
Feature Analysis and Enhancement:
  • Evaluate existing game features and mechanics to assess their impact on player engagement and monetization
  • Instrument applications with user tracking analytics to gain insight into the customer journey and how our product features are being used
  • Work closely with the product managers and producers to propose and prioritize feature enhancements, adjustments, or new implementations to improve overall player experience and drive long-term retention
Reporting and Communication:
  • Prepare and deliver regular reports, dashboards, and presentations to stakeholders, summarizing performance metrics, trends, and actionable recommendations
  • Build self-updating Tableau dashboards, automate tables with Airflow, and refine SQL queries
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams and external partners to align on goals, strategies, and initiatives related to our mobile games’ live operations and feature development
  • Proactively work with stakeholders to formulate and manage business questions, hypotheses, specifications, and data-driven story-telling
  • Breakdown stakeholder asks and suggest solutions based on timeliness, accuracy, business value, and impact as a data and product subject matter expert (SME) for the AdVenture brand
Data Analytics as a Craft: 
  • Provide data mentorship to less experienced analysts on the the Data & Analytics team as well as cross-company, building data literacy and democratization/governance with excellence across the organization
  • Stay up-to-date on industry standards and best practices in data analytics
  • Grow your skills in machine learning, statistics, and data science, to enable a deeper understanding of the internal data
  • Keep a strong pulse on business metrics, and communicate when flags are raised about data integrity

YOUR TRACK RECORD INCLUDES
  • You have 5+ years working in free to play mobile games data analysis and/or product management with a proven track record of generating research and insights in a repeatable and actionable manner
  • You are an expert data storyteller and have experience with a set of tools to enable that
  • You have a deep understanding of mobile game mechanics, monetization strategies, and live operations best practices
  • You possess strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights and recommendations
  • You have a proven track record of driving measurable improvements in player engagement, retention, and monetization through data-driven decision-making
  • You have advanced proficiency in Tableau BI Skills
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, R, or other programming languages for data manipulation and analysis (we use mySQL and Postgres dialects) 
  • You excel at working with non-technical stakeholders to help translate, convey, manage and drive business needs into actionable insights
  • You build relationships across the organization to develop and maintain trust
  • You’re skillful at making strategy recommendations, and working with senior management to identify problems, solutions, and insights to drive the business forward
  • You’re experienced in project management: managing and prioritizing tasks across teams (we use agile ceremonies, and JIRA to track our work), knowing who to loop in when, and providing timely updates to your stakeholders
  • You’re familiar with 3rd party tooling and data integrations and at monitoring/maintaining data integrity across multiple systems
