"Splend was created to give people from all walks of life the freedom to earn an income through driving. We do this by providing high quality vehicles to drivers (‘members’) that might not have traditional access to credit, supporting them end-to-end throughout their journey with first class customer service and data-driven insights that help maximise earnings.
We care about the environment; in the UK most of our vehicles are hybrids and all the others (almost 30%) are fully electric. Our aim is to be fully electric in all regions, and in Australia we have signed a large deal with BYD to help us fully electrify our fleet. We are currently evaluating carbon offsetting and other green measures.
Our team contains many academic high achievers but we primarily value the ability to execute. Our technology team includes team members with a diverse range of experience across retail, finance, and academia, among other industries. The CEO founded the company and grew it from a local business in Australia with less than 50 cars to the global fleet with thousands of vehicles that it is today. Our CTO joined recently from SG Fleet where he was instrumental in the growth and eventual floatation of the company.
Unlike many earlier stage companies with smaller technology teams Splend runs at a profit, this means we aren’t reliant on funding to keep the lights on. When we close funding it genuinely goes into growing the business and helping us expand.
