Careers at Kuungana Advisory

About Kuungana Advisory

Kuungana Advisory is a consulting firm providing energy economics and commercial advisory services to public sector and private sector actors in the energy sector. The firm was set up by Stephen Nash, who was previously an energy sector consultant for PwC and Baringa Partners LLP, in 2015. Kuungana’s over-arching mission is to work on advisory projects that facilitate the transformational change required to increase access to environmentally sustainable and affordable energy supply in both developed and developing countries.

Our work

Kuungana works extensively with governments and regulators to shape energy markets and to create an enabling framework within which the private sector can invest. Kuungana’s work covers market design and energy market regulation at the micro-level (for off-grid), national level, and at the regional level. Kuungana also works closely with a wide range of private sector developers and investors. This includes advising on strategy and performing market and commercial due diligence for equity and debt investors. Kuungana’s clients operate across the value chain (from resources, to generation, to networks, to demand-side) and a complete spectrum of technologies.

Kuungana’s work is underpinned by rigorous analytics, complemented by an understanding of the big picture priorities of the clients that we work with. This combination is what brings back many of our clients for repeat work.

The next stage in our growth story

Kuungana's success means that it has been winning new business from development banks, public sector, and private sector clients. We are now recruiting individuals who want to be part of our next phase of growth.

Our focus on emerging economies, and sub-Saharan Africa in particular, means that our team members will have the opportunity to make a difference in their day-to-day project work. Kuungana has advised governments on policies to improve energy access for some of the poorest countries in the world and we have advised companies developing innovative new business models to tackle the energy access deficit. The radical changes taking place in the energy sector, both in developed and developing countries, means that our firm sits at the heart of the energy transition.

Our reward package is competitive and we facilitate flexible working arrangements (including part-time working) wherever possible. Working for a fast-growing company means that our team members will have the opportunity to shape their role and our company, and to share in our success.
