  • Software Development (16)

    • OUR MISSION:

Build intelligent tools that help communities adapt to the impacts of climate change.

      Hi! We're Forerunner.

We believe that adaptation is a necessity, not a luxury, and all communities should have access to powerful software that helps them plan for the future. The challenge of climate change is complex — it implicates how municipalities plan, manage capital, and communicate to both residents and higher levels of government. Forerunner helps local communities do these things better by empowering them to access, understand, and mobilize local-level flood risk data at scale. Our software is built to be easy-to-use, so that the planners and floodplain managers preparing for our future can focus on the important stuff.

Currently, we're working with a handful of communities, including the City of New Orleans and Pinellas County, FL. Our engineering team is hard at work on projects that involve extracting information from permits, managing complex datasets, and incorporating geospatial data. Our mission is ambitious, and we have a significant amount of work ahead. As our newest team member, you'll be joining us at a crucial time when you'll have a real impact on our direction and our partner municipalities' success.

      About the position:

We're looking for a senior full-stack engineer with 5+ years of experience to join us. We would love to hear from you if you're interested in what we do and have a proven track record of leading mid- to large-scale technical initiatives. In general, you might be a good fit if you:

      • Have partial, or full, familiarity with our technical stack: Node, GraphQL, React, Postgres + PostGIS, Heroku. If not, we would like you to be confident in your ability to ramp up quickly.

      • Are comfortable with a high degree of ambiguity. Since we are constantly learning a lot from our partners, we are looking for someone who has a bias toward action and can balance the challenging trade-off between quality and speed.

      • Consider yourself to be a great communicator. We're a small team working remotely, which requires us to be prompt and clear with written and spoken communication.

Our team has a lot to offer.

Forerunner is a seed-stage company with an interdisciplinary team. We are motivated by seemingly intractable problems and work hard to support one another.

      • We're mission driven. Our mission orients our business strategy and pushes us to work with a sense of urgency. We’re in the weeds — our entire team spends time engaging with our partners in the field to better understand the real-world challenges they face.

      • We're a small team. We're currently 4 people — you will be the 5th. As a member of our growing team, you will quickly become an invaluable part of our organization and have a meaningful impact on our business and technical direction. We welcome unique perspectives and backgrounds. Your opinion matters and we hope you'll share it.

      • We're remote. While many of us are based in NYC, we're happy to have you work where you are happiest and most productive. We offer schedule flexibility and ask for accountability in return.

      • We want you to be happy and healthy. Forerunner offers competitive compensation, health/vision/dental coverage (we pay 70%), and commuter benefits. We also have a quarterly wellness reimbursement so that you can have flexibility in defining what health means to you.

We look forward to meeting you. To apply or ask questions, shoot us a message at [email protected]!

      • Fluent in both written and spoken English

      • Well-versed with agile values and methodologies. We do not require specific methodologies or certifications, but we want you to have a strong understanding, and the ability to teach.

    • This Product Designer or Senior Product Designer position for our Compliance group is 100% remote.

      A brief overview:

GitLab is building an open-source, single application for the entire software development lifecycle—from project planning and source code management to CI/CD, monitoring, and security.

We started 2019 with a team of 15 Product Designers and Researchers. Right now, we’re in a period of growth, we’ve more than doubled the size of the Product Design team, and we’ve increased the number of GitLab employees from 400 to over 1100 this financial year, too.

At GitLab, we live and breathe open source principles. This means our entire handbook is online, and with a few clicks, you can find the details of future releases, check out our past releases, and see an overview of the product vision you’d contribute to when working here.

As a Product Designer at GitLab, you will be embedded in our Compliance group. It’s a complex area where you’ll be tasked with improving the controls we provide to support our customers to help them manage their compliance posture within GitLab. You'll be designing new features and experiences to improve the quality of life for customers who operate within regulated environments.

What you can expect in a Product Designer, Compliance role at GitLab:
      • You’ll be tasked with bettering our product for users who rely on our compliance features. The work you’ll do will enable greater adoption of our product within the enterprise space and impact users across a range of industries, from healthcare to manufacturing.
      • You’ll collaborate with a Product Manager to define the priorities, roadmap, and overall strategy for the future of Compliance within our product.
      • You'll work alongside Product Managers and UX Researchers to understand the needs of our users to shape how compliance features underpin the work within regulated industries.
      • You’ll come together with our Technical Writers to better our compliance documentation and in-product content.
      • You’ll collaborate with cross-functional partners to uncover and understand the complexities and limitations of our current compliance tools, advocating for the end-user in all areas, including documentation, ease of use, and visualization of key messaging.
      • You’ll utilize wireframes, prototypes, user flows, mockups, high-fidelity visual designs, or any other artifacts you believe are necessary to convey your design thinking and ideas.
      • You’ll engage with our user base and the wider GitLab community to understand their pain points and work toward long-term fixes that enable them to succeed with their goals.
      • You’ll undertake usability testing to validate your thinking, collaborate with our UX Researchers on generative research, and you’ll share findings with the wider team in our research repo, ensuring recommendations are communicated effectively across our organization.
      • You’ll contribute compliance patterns to our Design System, alongside the rest of the UX department, and the GitLab community as a whole.
Projects you might work on in our Compliance group:

You’ll spend your time at GitLab collaborating with a cross-functional team. You may work on features that bring compliance checks into merge requests, a dashboard to give users insight into their overall compliance controls, or even build features that enable code to be audited, traceable, and reported on. To be successful, you’ll consider many edge cases while understanding the needs of a wide range of personas across a breadth of industries. Outside of work on our compliance tools, you’ll also contribute to our Pajamas design system and design culture here at GitLab.

      You should apply if:
      • You’ve got experience designing developer tooling, enterprise software, or complex web applications that are built for technical users.
      • You’ve got some experience designing compliance experiences, or knowledge of the compliance industry.
      • You’ve got experience working on product strategy and product design for a complex enterprise application or SaaS tool.
      • You enjoy getting involved in research and usability testing, and you continually look to improve your user research abilities.
      • You want to design for a complex product with technical users who have continually evolving needs.
      • You’ve got experience applying your product design skills across user research, UX strategy, wireframing, prototyping, product strategy, and visual design, within a complex domain.
      • The idea of playing a key part in the evolution of our Pajamas Design System is truly exciting to you.
      • You understand frontend code or the limitations of frontend technology. You can demonstrate this through your hands-on coding skills with HTML/CSS/JS, your knowledge of Git, or by showing us you have a deep understanding of the needs of engineers you’ve worked with previously.
      • Our values of collaboration, results, efficiency, diversity, iteration, and transparency resonate with you.
      • You'll thrive in an environment where self-learning and self-service is encouraged and instilled as a part of our culture.

The culture here at GitLab is something we’re incredibly proud of. Because GitLabbers are currently located in over 60 different countries, you’ll spend your time collaborating with kind, talented, and motivated colleagues from across the globe.

Some of the benefits you’ll be entitled to vary by the region or country you’re in. However, all GitLabbers are fully remote and receive a "no ask, must tell" paid-time-off policy, where we don’t count the number of days you take off annually. You can work incredibly flexible hours, enabled by our asynchronous approach to communication. We’ll also help you set up your home office environment, pay for your membership to a co-working space and contribute to the travel costs associated with meeting other GitLab team members across the world. Also, every year or so, we’ll invite you to our Contribute event.

      Hiring Process and compensation:

Our hiring process for this Product Designer position typically follows five stages. The details of this process, the expectations for Product Designers and Senior Product Designers, and the compensation for this role can be found in our job family page.

Here at Crisp, we value the strength in teamwork, and strongly believe that it’s the key to Crisp’s success. By bringing together bright, motivated creators, wherever they live and work, we are leveraging humanity’s diversity of experience and background in order to understand the challenges facing our food supply, and solve them together. Come join us, and help build the type of business you’d like to be a part of.

We are a socially conscious, distributed team. We give you the opportunity to solve challenges in the global food industry while living where you’re most comfortable and working in areas where you can help foster and grow the community that you are a part of.

As a member of the first few engineering teams at Crisp you have will have the unique opportunity to take products from concept to production as we build towards our goal of becoming the global technology platform for the food industry. You will work closely with the co-founder team and be part of not just defining and implementing our technology and product strategy, but also the way we work together as we scale our company.

      Signs of a great candidate

      • Collaborative. You know that your colleagues’ perspectives will make our customers successful. Similarly, you use your strengths to help us grow together. You propose ways for us to be more engaged and successful with our customers.
      • Customer focused. Our customers are at the forefront of your day. You prioritize our customers’ voice to ensure their needs are met.
      • Ambitious, curious, and resourceful. You are innately curious, and you aren’t afraid to work hard. You are self driven, you take direction well but are able to be creative to find results on your own when asked. You are driven to succeed because your hard work and results make you proud.
      • Disciplined and reliable. We are a distributed company and you enjoy the benefits of working distributed while consistently delivering what you have committed to. When you hit a snag, you communicate and reset expectations early.
      • Appreciative of honest feedback. You know that the best way to learn and grow is through constructive feedback delivered kindly. You view feedback given to you as an opportunity to get better and strive to do the same for others.
      • Work smarter and harder.  You often identify a problem, create a solution and bring it to a state of completion - with others, or even on your own. You find ways of eliminating or automating stuff that is uninteresting or wasteful.

      Crisp’s Backend Tech Stack

      • Statically typed, modern languages. We use Kotlin and TypeScript.  Knowledge of these specific technologies is not a requirement. If you’re willing to learn, we’re willing to help you along the way.
      • Continuous deployment. Code is never far from being deployed to production, because if it’s not in production, it’s not solving problems in the real world. Our branch time spans are short, and features under development are hidden behind feature flags.
      • JVM based back-end. The JVM has a robust, rich ecosystem of libraries and tools that we’re leveraging to help us focus on building solutions, not tool-chains.
      • Cloud first. As a services offering in the 21st century, the cloud isn’t the future, it’s the present. We’re fully invested in using the features offered by our cloud provider in order to minimize technical debt and maximize productivity.
      • Micro-services. Not for the sake of the buzz, but when they make sense. By adopting a modern, thoughtful services architecture we’re able to scale organizationally, reduce technical debt, and maintain a high, sustained velocity.
      • Start-up mode.  The team is still small, and the product is fresh.  You’ll be able to exert a large amount of influence, and contribute to decisions that will determine the future of the product and the team.

We are building a team of developers with a breadth of combined experiences so that we can collaboratively build great products. There are no hard requirements on specific background, experience or geographical location. Instead we’re looking for individuals that are capable, reliable, and hoping to grow along with us. Do you have strengths you can share? If so, we’d love to hear from you!

At Medium, words still matter. We are building a place to foster reading and writing on the internet—a place where today’s smartest writers, thinkers authorities, experts, and storytellers can share big, interesting ideas; a place where ideas are judged on the value they provide to readers, not the fleeting attention they can attract for advertisers.

      The Platforms team
The Platforms team is tasked with enabling our product engineers to quickly build a quality user experience. We do that by giving those teams tools and frameworks to build great user experiences.
Much of the Platforms team's recent work has been around shepherding new technologies into Medium's stack: We have a web client written in modern React (with hooks, if you're curious) and TypeScript. We have enjoyed adopting GraphQL to add clarity to our API, manage changing client needs, and take advantage of third party tooling like Apollo Client. We have a modern design system & styling framework using CSS-in-JS & Storybook. And we are growing our fleet of Go services speaking gRPC, deployed on Kubernetes, and released with our own K8s operator.

      That's where you come in:
We're looking for Staff- or Principal-leveled engineers who like to:
Write software — That might be writing a new framework, making a design system component accessible, or writing a Slack integration that saves engineers time.
Support fellow engineers — We listen to product engineering teams and collaborate with them. After all, they're our users, and they're the ones who ultimately help Medium's users read and write things that matter. When we empathetically understand what they need, it makes us better at our job.
Advocate for & design solutions — We provide high-level technical design, strategy roadmap development, and technical architecture related to our web client.
Follow & engage with the community — We want to assure that our architectures are consistent with industry including scalability, availability, maintainability, and flexibility.
Understand technical debt — There are also some older and less glamorous technologies at Medium, too. Part of your responsibility will be enabling engineers to account for technical debt and make progress against it — all while building new systems and user features.

      WHO ARE YOU?
      • You have a deep understanding of Javascript, the DOM, CSS, and the ecosystem of tools around them.
      • You are an expert in at least one modern web application framework (React, Angular, Vue, etc.)
      • You have 5+ years of experience writing software.
      • You want to learn from and teach your peers.
      • You work autonomously, are energized by missions and goals more than a specific list of tasks.

      Nice, but not required:
      • You have 10+ years of experience.
      • You understand web accessibility and have shipped accessible products.
      • You have an understanding of React's internals.
      • You have experience on an infrastructural or platform team.
      What makes Medium special
At Medium, we foster an inclusive, supportive, fun yet challenging team environment. We value having a team that is made up of a diverse set of backgrounds and respect the healthy expression of diverse opinions. We embrace experimentation and the examination of all kinds of ideas through reasoning and testing. Come join us as we continue to change the world of digital media.
Medium is an equal opportunity employer. We will ensure that individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodation to participate in the job application or interview process, to perform essential job functions, and to receive other benefits and privileges of employment. Please contact us to request accommodation.
    • We're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to be part of squads developing features by proving simple yet performant interfaces and ensuring long term stability and scalability.

      💪 What's my mission?
Eventually as one of the early member of Slite, you'll be be able to shape the future of it. We share as much ownership on the way we work and on the product itself as we can as we're convinced our success is 99% due to our team.

We are in a stage when it's important to build strong foundation and prepare for scaling in the upcoming years. We'll have to scale our GraphQL API to handle millions of requests per day, while monitoring and keeping a low error rates. You'll work closely with the product team to make a faster experience, and develop features such as a comprehensive updates log on notes, public sharing and commenting.

Here's @shahor, our backend engineer and your future teammate:
You'll work closely with the product team to create a better experience and develop features such as a comprehensive updates log on notes, public sharing and commenting.
We're also growing, and that will require our API to be stable, monitorable, and fast. You will improve our current GraphQL API by designing good interfaces for the different usages and making it rock solid and fast. You will also help maintain the existing codebase reducing the technical debt.

🤗 Who will I be working with?
You will be working closely with our engineers @shahor and @arnaud, our CTO @pierre and VP product @mikeas as well as the other squads.

      Why join Slite?
      - Work with talented & passionate people with diverse experiences and backgrounds.
      - Make a dent: we strive to shift the way people collaborate and organize at a large scale, potentially impacting millions of people.

    • About Almanac

Almanac’s mission is to democratize access to 21st century skills, insights, and tools so that no one is limited by knowledge in pursuit of their potential.

Through our own experiences, we’ve seen professionals at digital businesses waste too much time trying to find answers they can trust that help them do their jobs better. We believe this problem isn’t rooted in a lack of knowledge or expertise in the world, but in the deficiencies of tools we rely on to access, share, and improve how work gets done.

To make opportunity available to everyone, we’re building a knowledge platform that technology professionals can trust for documenting, distributing, and collaborating on how they work. We replace tools like Confluence and Google Docs to help individuals quickly access knowledge within and across companies that they can trust deeply.

We’ve been moving fast since we founded Almanac in January 2019. Since then, we’ve built and launched the initial version of our product, raised a $2M+ seed round from leading Silicon Valley investors, and grown our full-time team to 10 people.

We’ve seen deep demand from a broad cross section of customers, who are asking for a powerful platform that can help their employees be their best selves at work.

  • Design (11)

    • Our mission

The problem: In 2017, nearly 60% of adults in sub-Saharan Africa had no bank account. That's for good reason—the fees are too high, the closest branch can be miles away, and nobody takes cards. Without access to financial institutions, people are forced to keep their savings under the mattress. Small business owners rely on lenders who charge extortionate rates. Parents spend hours waiting in line to pay school fees in cash.

How we're solving it: We're building financial services to work as they should: no account fees, instantly available and accepted everywhere. In places where electricity, water and roads don't always function, we're creating financial infrastructure that "just works." In November 2017, we launched a mobile app in Senegal for cash deposit, withdrawal, and peer-to-peer and business payments and we recently launched in Cote d'Ivoire. Our goal is to make Africa the first cashless continent. That's where you come in...

How you'll help us achieve it

We know design can help us make a great impression on potential users as well as hiring candidates. We recently worked with a design firm to develop a new brand which will launch next month. We're looking for someone to join our team to implement our new brand in all our materials (posters, signs, flyers, etc.), aiming at a press launch in Q2 2020, then move onto mobile app and web graphic design. You will report to the Head of Product.

      Responsibilities:

      • Understand and express our mission, values, strategy and users' needs through design.

      • Take ownership of a companywide brand design style guide of reusable components.

      • Produce sketches and comprehensive layouts of print, web page and mobile app design, gather feedback and iterate.

      • Finish designs for print and collateral.

      • Finish, slice, export and debug assets (images, stylesheets and android layouts) for use in website and mobile apps on different devices (an engineer will have some time to help with the process as needed).

      • Understand and apply web and Android platform design principles and best-practices.

      Requirements:

      • Have substantial experience in either print or application graphic design:

      • If print — heavily involved in print/collateral design at a tech company, and at least peripheral involvement in web or app design

      • If app — owned the visual design of an important feature on web or mobile

      • Have at least some experience in each of print design, web/app design, and technical design work (e.g. fixing layout bugs)

      Bonus points if:

      • Speak French

      • Experience with user experience design

      Key details

      • Location: We are a globally distributed remote company - work from wherever makes you happy!

      • This is a full-time position and includes equity.

      • Use whatever tools you prefer, but we currently have a bunch of stuff in Sketch.

      Major benefits:

      • Subsidized health insurance for you and your dependents and retirement contributions (both vary from country-to-country)

      • 26 weeks fully paid parental leave and subsidized fertility assistance

      • Unlimited vacation with a 20-day minimum requirement

      • $10,000 annual charitable donation matching

      Our team

      • We're a team of ~130 people (90 Senegalese and 40 International) who are deeply passionate about our mission of bringing great financial services to the people who need them most. Our team works remotely across North America, Europe and Africa.

      • Every nine weeks our HQ team goes on a five-day retreat together in French-speaking sub-Saharan Africa.

      • We’re backed by world-class investors including Khosla Ventures, Founders Fund, Y Combinator, and the cofounders of PayPal.

      How to apply

If interested, please apply here with your CV and portfolio. The portfolio would ideally showcase:

      • A variety of product-oriented print, web and/or mobile app designs

      • A strong visual aesthetic and understanding of color, typography, iconography and branding

      • Practical skills with modern design software tools

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

Wave is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.

      • Self sufficiency and ability to resolve what blocks your work within a cross-functional team environment
      • Comfortable working on short deadlines and the ability to pivot quickly

      • 2+ years managing other researchers
      • Masters Degree or PhD in a related field

      - 3 offsites per year: every ~4 months we arrange an offsite for the whole company to get together so we can get to know our colleagues better and understand what we need to do. Our Values

We are intentional about culture, and these are the highest level ways we have come up with to describe how we work and interact.

      😇 No BS, No Ego

We are radically candid with each other in every interaction. This means a lack of politics, a lack of showboating, a lack of BS. This also means brevity, clarity of thought, and clarity of communication. We give and take feedback without ego, with the knowledge that we all are operating with good intent. No ego is the check system to balance no BS and keep it kind. No ad-hominem attacks.

      🐢 1% better every day

Continuous improvement is what motivates us. We design our product, our organization and our careers to be continually improving. Mistakes are only bad if they are repeated. Experiments are only wasted if they are not learned from.

      🛠 Own the journey

We are all owners. We demand that of each other. The journey we own is threefold: our customers’ journey, our tribal journey and our personal journey. Our reason for existence is to nail our customer journey, so that we can scale our tribe’s success.

    • Who we are

Choco is one of the fastest-growing European startups. The company was founded in March 2018 by entrepreneurs who helped start companies such as Zalando (IPO), Lazada (sold to Alibaba) and Foodora (IPO).

We are a B2B platform connecting food suppliers and buyers on a global scale. While our technology is reshaping one of the oldest and most valuable industries on the planet - the food supply chain, we are obsessed with our mission to eradicate global food waste.

To do this, we have raised one of the largest Series A funding rounds in European history. We are looking for outstandingly driven individuals, who are able to assume extreme ownership and responsibility in shaping our global expansion.

      What you will do

We are looking for a Chief of Staff that will work directly with our CEO on all strategic and tactical matters driving the company forward. This role requires an exceptional leader - one who knows how to lead from principle and respect-based influence rather than authority - and who brings a great deal of wisdom, judgment and the ability to grasp complex organizational concepts.

Ultimately, the role exists to achieve leverage for the CEO by creating and leading thoughtful, lightweight, highly-efficient discussions and processes across a broad spectrum of situations (e.g. planning, technical development, employees, and stakeholder management), driving needed actions through the team and communicating efficiently to align people and teams.

In this highly visible role, it is equally important that this person is a strong individual contributor as much as a team player. The Chief of Staff must be able to work collaboratively with cross functional departments to guide project execution, remove obstacles, push to completion, and ensure initiatives meet committed timelines. This is a strategic role that requires a combination of character, judgment and people skills.

Beyond deep understanding of how the company works, most importantly the Chief of Staff must possess a deep understanding of how Choco operates as a member and extension of the leadership team.

      This includes:

      • Carry the Choco culture as an extension of the CEO.

      • Drive operational and planning processes to completion in partnership with the whole leadership team.

      • Own ad-hoc projects small to large: this could include implementation of new tactical initiatives, research and providing intelligence, expansion explorations, strategic partnerships, and more.

      • Review and potentially prepare internal and external communications: reports, speeches or presentations.

      • Monitor information flow, act as a gatekeeper, ensure the CEO’s involvement in a project or decision-making process at the right moment.

      • Manage team meetings, including planning, agenda, notes and execution of action items. Distill discussions and thoughts into strategic plans. Facilitate preparation for internal and external meetings.

      • Develop and execute impactful long term strategy for the company

      • Be involved in all top-level decisions, act as a sounding board to the CEO and Exec leadership for new ideas and initiatives, and prioritize and lead projects.

      What You'll Need

      • Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work seamlessly with a variety of personalities and functional disciplines. Ability to build relationships with cross-functional colleagues.

      • Exceptional and demonstrated business and product judgment. In spite of this role being administrative in nature, the CoS needs to have strong independent product and business judgment, i.e. be "right a lot" when it comes to making calls in these domains.

      • Strong operator. We need a leader who is great at creating structure, organization and (lightweight) process and getting everyone aligned within them. Strong prioritization skills and discipline are critical.

      • Has a 6th sense for identifying important strategic priorities to direct CEO focus on

      • Exhibits optimistic leadership and resilience. The CoS must look around at the sea of execution challenges and see them as a great puzzle to be solved. We should never hear this person complain or commiserate or talk about how everything is "broken;" rather, he/she must seek out problems and solve them, continually striving to make Choco better, stronger, faster. He/she must also be naturally enthusiastic to the point that they infect others, which ups everyone's game. Must have a bias for action and accountability.

      • Customer Obsessed. This person must be motivated by doing the right thing for our customers, externally and internally. She/he must establish and operate from first principles rather than being an order taker. He/she will not only "take the hills," with respect to the inner workings of Choco, but also identify the hills to take, i.e. be proactive in identifying opportunities to improve the way we work, prioritize appropriately and jump in without prodding.

      • An extremely organized critical thinker - your project plans are always detailed, up to date, and digestible, and you're comfortable setting and holding people accountable to deadlines.

      • Clear Communicator. You are a clear and concise communicator with the ability to synthesize a lot of information quickly and highlight the key insights.

      • High comfort in working under pressured, time-sensitive, and rapidly evolving situations.

      • A passion to radically transition food systems to operate sustainably. Obsessed about building a global champion.

      • Academically, given that we wish to graduate Chiefs of Staff into managerial roles, we apply the same criteria: candidates should have an undergraduate degree in business, or similar from a top institution. Advanced degrees, like an MBA, are not required, but can make a candidate more interesting. 3-5 years experience at a top-tier organisation in a highly challenging role are ideal.

      What we offer you

This is a unique opportunity to shape one of the fastest growing companies on the globe together with the CEO and the executive team.

The role is highly demanding and will reward you with an unprecedented learning curve. You will learn how to build, scale an early-stage company to market leadership. You will understand how to enable globally distributed teams of high-performing individuals to achieve success. You will understand how to create, drive and foster an extremely strong and positive culture of trust, friendship, focus and enjoyment across the globe.

This role is the best preparation to become part of the top-level leadership team, and we will invest in you to get there. In short, we are looking for an exceptional individual with a fanatic drive to win while never compromising on morals and culture.

If you are up for this challenging, then please apply.

The role will be based between the US and Berlin/Germany with occasional travel.

    • As a data scientist you will push the boundaries of deep learning & NLP by conducting research in cutting-edge AI and apply that research to production scale data. Our data includes a large corpora of global patents in multiple languages and a wealth of metadata. The focus of your work will be to analyze, visualize, and interpret large text corpora as well as more traditional structured data. This includes recommending and implementing ML-based product features. We also expect to publish primary research and contribute to FOSS that we use.

This is an exciting opportunity to part of a startup that is applying deep learning to a real-world problem at global scale. We’re always looking for leaders and there is room to grow for the right person to take increasing responsibility working as part of a small and dynamic team.

      Location:

      Responsibilities:

      • Architect and implement software libraries for batch processing, API-based predictions, and static analyses

      • Report and present software developments including status and results clearly and efficiently, verbally and in writing

      • Participate in strategy discussions about technology roadmap, solution architecture, and product design

      • Strict adherence to clean code paradigms

      Minimum Qualifications and Education Requirements:

      • BSc/BEng degree in computer science, mathematics, machine learning, computational linguistics or equivalent (MSc/MEng preferable)
