      About Us

At Close, we're building the sales communication platform of the future. With our roots as the very first sales CRM to include built-in calling, we're leading the industry toward eliminating manual processes and helping companies to close more deals (faster). Since our founding in 2013, we've grown to become a profitable, 100% globally distributed team of 43 high-performing, happy people that are dedicated to building a product our customers love.

Our backend tech stack currently consists of Python Flask/Gunicorn web apps with our TaskTiger scheduler handling many of the backend asynchronous task processing. Our data stores include MongoDB, Postgres, Elasticsearch, and Redis. The underlying infrastructure runs on AWS using a combination of managed services like RDS and ElasticCache and non-managed services running on EC2 instances. All of our compute runs through CI/CD pipelines that build Docker images, run automated tests and deploy to our Kubernetes clusters. Our backend primarily serves a well-documented public API that our front-end JavaScript app consumes.

We ❤️open source – using dozens of open source projects with contributions to many of them, and released some of our own like ciso8601, LimitLion, SocketShark, TaskTiger, and more at https://github.com/closeio

    • At Doist, our mission is to inspire the workplace of the future by creating simple yet powerful productivity tools that promote a more fulfilling way to work and live.

We're a multidisciplinary, fully remote team that’s passionate about creating products, like Todoist and Twist, that improve people’s lives. We thrive on innovating new solutions to old productivity challenges and we seek to rethink how productivity tools are made.

When you become a Doister, you’re not only joining a global, remote-first company, but a team of 70+ people who value:

      • Independence. Others can trust that you’ll deliver on time and your teammates don’t need to worry about you keeping your word.

      • Mastery. You love what you do and care deeply about the quality of your work, down to the smallest details. You’re continuously learning and pushing yourself to the limits of your ability. You're never satisfied with the status-quo.

      • Communication. Your communication is clear, concise, and engaging whether you're explaining a complex idea or providing feedback to a teammate.

      • Balance. You're mindful about cultivating a healthy work-life balance. You care about the well-being of yourself, your team and the people around you.

      • Impact. You're able to take a bird's eye view to pinpoint and then solve issues that have a high impact on our customers, our team, and our company. You're committed to the health and success of both your teammates and Doist as a company.

We invite you to visit our blog to learn more about us, our values, and how we work.

The Frontend team at Doist is looking for a new developer to join their ranks to build the best possible user experience for millions of user across multiple products.

      How we work:

The Frontend team is responsible for all code that runs in a browser. Be it the web apps of Twist and Todoist, browser extensions, electron apps or our landing pages.

Our main product work happens inside cross-disciplinary teams, that we call squads. You can read more about this in our blog. We have a rotating Hero role whose main responsibility is to tackle support issues, fix bugs and work on smaller improvements. On top of that everybody on the team gets a day per week to spend on Housekeeping; during this time we pay back technical debt, fix bugs and in general improve the health of our code base.

We believe in picking the most effective tools to do our best work. At the moment this means most of our communication happens asynchronously in Twist. Code and bugs are managed and reviewed in GitHub. Team meetings are done in Zoom.

We don't have a lot of scheduled meetings. Once a week the team meets to discuss the previous week and plan the next one. Once a month the whole team comes together for a retrospective to share candid feedback and take a look at the coming month.

      Day-to-day work:

What your work will look like on a day-to-day basis:

      • Implement features. From proposal, through specification and implementation, to maintenance. You're encouraged and expected to propose things that you think can be a good addition to the product.

      • Provide feedback. When planning a feature you're expected to provide feedback on expected challenges and unknowns as early as possible.

      • Improve the code quality. With time, our code accumulated some technical debt, which we pay off. Often we do it while we make features, but we also dedicate time to housekeeping each week.

      • Be a responsible & exemplary team member. We do code reviews, refactor code, learn new things and share our knowledge. You might also be appointed mentor of a new comer

      • Lead a squad. From time to time you might be a squad leader which bears the responsibility for the success of the project. In practical terms, you plan the squad work and orchestrate its execution. You balance this activity with hands-on work within the same squad.

      • Be a Hero. During this time you'll be working closely with the support team to triage and fix bugs from users. Also, you help speed up code reviews and support other teams in their projects.

                                              About Us
Help Scout is made by roughly 110 people in 80+ cities around the world, all with a passion for helping others. We come from diverse backgrounds and are united by an enthusiasm for great products and delightful customer experiences. Help Scout launched in 2011 and today we have more than 10,000 paying customers in 140+ countries.

                                              Why Help Scout?
We're remote. It doesn’t matter if you’ve worked remotely before — we’ve been doing it for nearly a decade and are helping to write the playbook — we’re happy to show you the ropes. Most folks that get a taste of working in a "remote first" company have a hard time going back to the old way of doing things.

We’re passionate about diversity and inclusion. The data is abundantly clear about diverse teams being more successful, and we're dedicated to setting the team up for success. Today our leadership team is 62% women, and that's just the start. Here’s our 2019 report.

We're committed to SMBs for the long term. Help Scout is focused entirely on serving small and midsize businesses, typically up to 500 employees, because those companies view customer service differently. It's not a cost to be optimized, it's their most effective marketing tool and a key differentiator from the competition. We built Help Scout for companies that truly value being customer-centric (like us) and want a product that shares their values.

We're leaving the world better than we found it. Did you know Help Scout is a certified B Corporation, with a mission to give away at least 1% of our product through Help Scout for Good? Our company exists not just to help ourselves, but to invest in our team, our customers, our community, and our environment.

                                              Our commitment to you
We are an equal opportunity employer and are committed to building a company that embraces and celebrates diversity and inclusion. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status. We have read the studies and understand that diverse teams build better products, bring more perspective to the table, contribute to a company’s financial success and help foster a more inclusive environment for all employees, but the bottom line is that it's the right thing to do.

We didn’t create Bold Penguin because commercial insurance is broken. It isn’t. But as the world has gotten more connected and digitized, commercial insurance lags behind—creating a fragmented landscape where businesses, agents, and insurance companies struggle to interact in a smooth and easy way. That’s why we’ve built a highly efficient exchange that cuts the friction out of commercial insurance by connecting everyone to the right quote in record time.

Powering the world of insurance is no small feat, so we’ve brought on a team that's not only incredibly talented but also passionate about our potential to upgrade the entire industry. As more and more companies big and small depend on our technology to operate in the commercial insurance space, we’ll need the best talent all around to support our growth. That’s why we’re looking at you (yes, you!) to make a bold move and join our adventure.

                                              About You

You should have senior level experience (~5 years) building modern back-end systems, with at least 3 years of that experience using Python.

You also have around five years experience using MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, or similar data stores. You have significant experience designing, scaling, debugging, and optimizing systems to make them fast and reliable. You have experience participating in code reviews and providing overall code quality suggestions to help maintain the structure and quality of the codebase.

You’re comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a small and talented team where you're supported in your efforts to grow professionally. You are able to manage your time well, communicate effectively and collaborate in a fully distributed team.

Flyt is a technology platform designed to connect the world’s top food delivery companies with the world’s largest restaurant brands. If you have ordered food on your phone you have touched our technology.

Today, we’re a global company, with our technology being deployed across Europe, North America and Australia, and with team members in six countries. Flyt is organised in small, cross-functional, autonomous teams we call squads. In a community collaboration led by D2iQ, Google, Docker, and CloudFoundry we've developed the Container Storage Interface (CSI) specification. The CSI specification and the related implementations to provide cloud-like storage features in DC/OS are key to D2iQ’s strategic goals.

We are looking for experienced Software Engineers to help us maintain, design, and develop our DC/OS Storage Service (DSS). The DSS is built in Go and acts as an orchestration layer between CSI plugins and Mesos. Mesos itself, and therefore the parts relevant to its CSI integration, is written in C++.  We also develop two CSI plugins that, combined with DSS, provides local storage to DC/OS workloads on top of LVM. These projects work as expected, with fairly mature metrics, monitoring, soak testing, etc. There is so much more to do now that we’re past v1.0!

If you are ready to take on the challenge of solving complex distributed problems, debug system bugs (strace for the win), design and implement distributed storage solutions, then this is the position for you.

You will work in close collaboration with the data services engineers to ship well-integrated products that support our customers on their journey.

                                              Responsibilities
                                              • Performing code reviews and giving cordial feedback

                                              • Creating clear designs with well thought out design docs
                                              • Writing reliable control plane code, and the tests that allow it to safely evolve
                                              Experience & Skills
                                              • Strong programming skills, must be proficient in Golang, C++
                                              • Experience in developing and maintaining distributed applications
                                              • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure)
                                              • Experienced in container storage solutions like CSI, Docker Volume Driver, REX-Ray

                                              Who are we?

Flyt is a technology platform designed to connect the world’s top food delivery companies with the world’s largest restaurant brands. If you have ordered food on your phone you have touched our technology.

Today, we’re a global company, with our technology being deployed across Europe, North America and Australia, and with team members in six countries. Yet we’re still human-scale: everyone can get to know everyone, and we are structured to ensure every team has a strong sense of community and autonomy on how to hit their goals.

Flyt is organised in small, cross-functional, autonomous teams we call squads. Each one of our squads owns an area of the product end-to-end and is responsible for meeting a business goal. Same principles as the Spotify model, but customised to what works for us.

If you want to have a greater impact in the open source ecosystem by enabling our Customers to use new
technology to build better software faster - then you should keep reading.

We are searching for another great Customer Support Engineer to support our APAC customers.   While this is a 100% remote role, we are looking for the Engineer to be based in Singapore.

Our CSEs also identify common patterns and/or challenges customers are facing so as to influence the evolution of the product portfolio and best practices. Note - Although this is a 100 % remote role, we expect that travel to customer locations will initially be 35% - 45%.

                                              Why this role matters
Our customers are enterprise architects, security officers, developers, DevOps managers. We offer them
subscriptions to valuable software that works. As long as our customers value their investment, they
continue to renew and expand their deployments. No value = no growth and no renewal.

Fortunately, our customers find us easy to work with (as reported via customer sat surveys). They trust
Sonatype and value their investments, as demonstrated by our 90%+ renewal rate -- one of the highest
renewal rates in the software subscription business.  But we choose not to rest on our laurels.
If our customers are not optimized, properly deployed, or have compromised rollouts due to their lack of
time, technical know-how/resources, or understanding of best practices - it will inhibit our mutual ability to
achieve success and expansion. That is why this role is so important.

                                              What our CSEs do
                                              • Coach and educate a set of customers on implementation and usage best practices for the Sonatype Nexus Platform to ensure smooth on boarding, faster adoption, increased footprint, etc.
                                              • Share field insights with your peers in Customer Success as well as our Sales, Product Marketing, and Engineering teams. Provide feedback on how to bring more valuable features to the product based on customer reactions and your hands-on experiences.
                                              • Discover and analyze gaps in the customer experience, identifying early warning signals and then working with cross-functional teams to address them
                                              • Act as the voice of the customer - use your insights to help us drive improvements, influence product roadmap, deploy customer advocacy programs, etc.
                                              • Ensure customers are SUCCESSFUL and DELIGHTED with Sonatype products and services, not merely satisfied

                                              What we are Looking For
                                              • Our CSEs have from many different types of backgrounds including DevOps Engineers, Software Engineers, Quality Engineers, and Solutions Architects. While they paths are different, they all share the following:
                                              • Broad knowledge of modern software development life cycles and the tooling that development organizations use to build applications is important
                                              • Ability to travel 35%
                                              • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
                                              • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills
                                              • Well-honed project management and organizational skills
                                              • The desire to build long-term relationships and help our customers be successful

                                              What We Offer
                                              • The opportunity to be part of an incredible, high-growth company, working on a team of experienced colleagues
                                              • Competitive salary package
                                              • Business casual dress
                                              • Flexible work schedules that ensure time for you to be you

D2iQ's systems & networking team is currently looking for several talented and highly motivated software engineers to enable networking and service discovery for microservices and big data workloads.

We use whatever technology is required to achieve high availability for our customers. Currently, our tech stack is built in Erlang, C, C++ and Go. We use underlying techniques such as gossip, CRDTs, probabilistic algorithms, and statistical analysis to build fault-tolerant distributed systems.

Team members should have production experience, and approach systems development with an operational mindset. You should feel at home with the CAP theorem, distributed consensus, and preferably also software defined networking. We hope that you’re a passionate individual with a natural sense of curiosity, and think about solutions from first principles. You must feel comfortable working in tight technical constraints, where legacy data planes and hostile applications are the norm.

                                                                                      Responsibilities

Our mission is to democratise access to state of the art technology for short-term rental hosts. We want to facilitate a future where hosting short-term rentals is at least as easy as managing long-term rentals.

Today, we do this by helping Airbnb and HomeAway hosts deliver a great and personal guest experience automatically, though native platform integrations, machine-learning and robust software.

                                                                                      Our team

Our team is fully remote and distributed. We embrace the fact that your best environment is wherever you - personally - feel the most productive and comfortable for day-to-day work.

We organize frequent meetups and retreats for the team to physically meet throughout the year. The last trips were to Lisbon, Prague, Paris, Tenerife and Brussels.

Chef's co-founder Adam Jacob says "strongDM takes the friction out of getting staff access to the systems they need."

We built a technical product for technical buyers who have a high bar and low tolerance for sales spin. Customers love us because:

The product rocks: strongDM fundamentally changes the relationship between InfoSec, DevOps, and end users. Enforce the controls security needs while making it easier to facilitate access.

Customers trust us: we built a technical product for technical buyers. We do not use jargon. There is no alternative but to always be technically accurate. We are not afraid to admit product gaps.

We’re real humans: we built a serious product without taking ourselves too seriously. Each member of the team is deadly good at their job, and yet we crack jokes on the phone with customers.

                                                                                      WHAT YOU’LL DO

As it says above :) Product is one of the three fundamental tenets of the strongDM business. It needs to work: seamlessly, effectively, and confidently. It’s written by engineers, for engineers. It’s outrageously difficult to build and yet must be the polar opposite to use.

Welcome to the Product Design at strongDM! You’ll work with the Technical Account Management, Engineering and Support Teams (+ a Product Manager!) to define problems & goals, map user flows, create prototypes, and launch new features and products. You’ll be designing elegant interactions to manage a complex technical platform for technical users -- no easy feat. :)

                                                                                      REQUIREMENTS:

                                                                                      • 3-8 years of experience with end-to-end product design

                                                                                      • Solid understanding of the key drivers of a SaaS business.

                                                                                      • Proactive thinker looking to build processes that scale.

                                                                                      • Distill and simplify complex financial concepts for all audiences.

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the team dedicated to driving Gatsby’s open source project. Join us in our mission to make website development fun by making it simple.

                                                                                      About us

Gatsby is a remote-first, community-focused team working to build a high-performance, fun to use, accessible, and astonishingly flexible presentation layer for any data source. Our core values include transparency (our work is public most of the time); creating a safe, high-trust team; building incredible developer experiences; maintaining a healthy working environment; and helping deliver web experiences that feel amazing to use on every device and connection type.

                                                                                      Details of the role

                                                                                      Type of Work: Full-time employee

                                                                                      Location: Remote

                                                                                      Why we need you

Gatsby is the future of the web, and the web is an incredibly diverse ecosystem. This means we need leaders who can intuitively appreciate the value that the commercial services we build offer customers. The open source team is expanding rapidly and we need someone with a deep understanding of the very cool technology, but an equally profound sense of empathy required to grow both individual contributors and future leaders in this critical part of our company.

                                                                                      Why this is interesting

Gatsby is a wildly popular open-source framework that is changing the architecture of the web. The open-source team is responsible for driving the roadmap for the large and complex codebase that is Gatsby.js. Between their own contributions and the community, they merge nearly 500 pull requests in a typical month. You’ll help lead the team in not only tackling key technological challenges, but also bolstering and focusing community contributions.

                                                                                      Your responsibilities

You will be responsible for people, projects, and processes. You will partner with your team and peers to:

                                                                                      • Foster an inclusive environment through empathy, not just inside engineering, but across all the teams in Gatsby, and beyond to the open source community.

                                                                                      • Wrangle many timezones and introduce remote work best practices, as you will lead a geographically diverse team.

                                                                                      • Exercise good judgement in interacting with the enthusiastic community, as an exemplar for your team in this area.

                                                                                      • Partner with Product and Design to find the best blend of quality, agility, and work/life sanity.

Make sure your team is fully equipped for their job, including:

                                                                                      • Context - make sure they know what is happening outside engineering

                                                                                      • Vision - make sure they know what it coming next, even if we’re not there yet

                                                                                      • Skills - ensure that each team member grows and feels confident in delivery

                                                                                      • Tools - choose and evolve the dev environment (with the team’s input)

                                                                                      • Processes - hand-in-hand with tools, make sure that we’re continuously evolving our planning and dev approach to have just enough structure to keep us on track

                                                                                      • Empower your team members by offering them clear ownership of technical challenges in a world where you and other leaders are still wearing many hats and finding the ones with the best fit.

                                                                                      • Collaborate with other engineering managers to evolve the management practices at Gatsby. We’re all learning more every day!

This might be you if you….

                                                                                      • Have successfully managed people, including recruiting and hiring, coaching, mentoring, evaluating, and promoting.

                                                                                      • Have experience working with (and ideally contributing to, or managing) open source communities and products.

                                                                                      • Have strong communication skills, verbal and written.

                                                                                      • Genuinely enjoy helping people, both inside the company and out.

                                                                                      • Have a consistent track record of delivering high-quality software in regular, iterative releases through coordinating a remote team.

                                                                                      • Are able to coordinate and work with teams and stakeholders across the organization, and even beyond the company, including effective project management skills in an environment where you may not control many of the variables.

                                                                                      • Have previous experience with React, Node.js, and GraphQL. Gatsby is built on React, Node, and GraphQL, so you should be experienced with usage and the syntax.

                                                                                      • Have strong empathy and a willingness to define the nuances of team roles (including your own!) as you go.

The best parts of this job

                                                                                      • The people and culture of a team genuinely invested in building something great.

                                                                                      • You’ll be helping curate one of the most popular, fastest growing open source frameworks in the world.

                                                                                      • You’ll be leading a group of supportive, talented, and friendly people towards delivering a great framework and developer experience.

                                                                                      • You’ll have the opportunity (even expectation) to constantly learn and innovate, in both tech approaches and process definition.

                                                                                      • Your role will be key to making Gatsby the next way to build on the web—and a technology that enables the next billion internet users.

                                                                                      • You will get to look back on this time as the “early, exciting days” of Gatsby. You’ll get to watch members of your team become future leaders and luminaries in a space that isn’t fully defined or formed yet.

The worst parts of this job (maybe)

                                                                                      • The community and our team aren’t always operating as equals, and don’t always have perfectly aligned motivations. Your job includes the unenviable task of helping us figure out the right focus in a variety of complex situations, and with a wide range of (understandable, but sometimes mutually exclusive) community expectations.

                                                                                      • We’re all still figuring a lot of stuff out. Things can feel unstructured or messy. Part of your job is to smooth out what we collectively don’t like. And that can be hard.

                                                                                      • The company is growing fast, which means lots of people wearing lots of hats, and sometimes exchanging them for new ones. Doing this while protecting a team (or individual’s) sense of ownership and security is hard. And it’s part of this job. Sorry.

                                                                                      • Product and strategic direction can change. We’re building a whole new area of growth in an absolutely huge potential market. Absorbing (and/or pushing back as you see fit) that change so your team doesn’t feel unnecessary churn is also hard. And also part of this job. Still sorry.

                                                                                      Benefits

                                                                                      • Unlimited vacation policy, with a minimum of 15 days paid vacation time

                                                                                      • Amazing health, dental, and vision insurance for you and your family (US only)

                                                                                      • Skip the commute with remote work

                                                                                      • 3 months of paid parental leave covering both adoption and foster placement

                                                                                      • Fly to cool locations 3x/year for company-wide meetups

                                                                                      • Stock options in a fast-growing startup

                                                                                      • Gatsby Sabbatical: 4 weeks of paid vacation after 4 years tenure

                                                                                      Equal Opportunity Statement

Gatsby is an equal opportunity employer. We eagerly seek applicants of diverse backgrounds and hire without regard to race, color, gender identity, religion, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, physical abilities (or disability), age, sexual orientation, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. We are on the brink of the next industrial revolution.

Manufacturing has long been an analog world, but this is about to change. By introducing machines to the digital world, there’s a staggering opportunity for efficiency and production leaps. Oden is driving this revolution. We’re on a mission to eliminate waste in manufacturing.

We have combined industrial hardware, wireless connectivity, and big data architecture into one simple platform so all manufacturers can analyze and optimize their production, from any device. Efficiency, sustainability, and competitiveness are democratized.

                                                                                      Why We Do It:

We like to enable those who make things - to make more, to waste less, to serve their customers, and to thrive in a competitive world. At Automattic, we want people to love their work and show respect and empathy to all. We welcome differences and strive to increase participation from traditionally underrepresented groups. Our D&I committee involves Automatticians across the company and drives grassroots change. For example, this group has helped facilitate private online spaces for affiliated Automatticians to gather and helps run a monthly D&I People Lab series for further learning. Diversity and Inclusion is a priority at Automattic, though our dedication influences far more than just Automatticians: We make our products freely available and translate our products into and offer customer support in numerous languages. We require unconscious bias training for our hiring teams and ensure our products are accessible across different bandwidths and devices. Read more about our dedication to diversity and inclusion.

                                                                                      Location: Continental US, Remote required

                                                                                      ABOUT STRONGDM

strongDM is a customer-first company that has a rabid fan base. When was the last time you heard things like:

Splunk's CISO Joel Fulton says "strongDM gives you what you can’t get any other way- the ability to see what happens, replay and analyze incidents."

Welcome to the Product Management at strongDM! You ensure that what the Technical Account Management and Support Teams hear day-to-day gets integrated into the product. You advocate for trends which only you can see (Kubernetes wasn’t in product workloads for years until it was, overnight). You talk to customers. You talk to everyone. You read all the things. You advocate for what we build, when we build, and how we build (in tandem with a Product Designer). Product starts and stops with you.

                                                                                      REQUIREMENTS:

                                                                                      • Manage technical software products from planning to production

                                                                                      • Know what you don’t know… get to know our customers, articulate their problems, and dig in deep to understand exactly what they need (not necessarily what they think they need)

                                                                                      • 2 - 5 years building or PMing a technical product

                                                                                      • An outrageously good nose for superb end user experience

                                                                                      • You don’t need to code, but you need to quickly gain an in-depth understanding of software systems, understand and weigh in on trade-offs, make meaningful contributions to discussions on software architecture, security, etc. So… experience as a software engineer or equivalent would be OUTSTANDING :)

                                                                                      • Familiarity with security, compliance, infrastructure, networking, or auditing products a strong plus.

                                                                                      • Understand developer-centric products and all the requisite implications of marketing to that buyer

                                                                                      • Can see the forest through the trees - yes, you’re outlining features, but we need solid business judgment and justification too

                                                                                      • Gets stuff done, achieving significant results under tight timeframes. We all pull our own weight here.

                                                                                      • Comfortable interacting with customers and coworkers alike

                                                                                      • Humble - we all make mistakes. Every single one of us.

                                                                                      COMPENSATION:

At Stack Overflow, our mission is to serve developers. Whether we’re helping developers get public answers to their questions, work more efficiently with their team, or find a new job, we build products that make millions of developers’ lives better every day. We’re looking for a Product Manager to join our team, working on our flagship public Q&A product. http://stackoverflow.com/

Stack Overflow Q&A today has over 17 million question and answer pairs, sees 50 million unique visitors a month, and has been visited over 12 billion times in the past decade.  You’ll be leading one of the largest, most engaging products on the internet. While we’re proud of how far we’ve come, we need your help to make Stack Overflow an attractive community for the next 10 million developers.  You’ll have a broad mandate from new user onboarding, acquisition, and core Q&A functionality to user privileges, reputation, moderator tools and much more.

You’ll have the opportunity to do a lot. You can expect during your first year:

                                                                                      • First Month: Get onboarded and brought up to speed on our current plans. You’ll spend a lot of time learning about our products, building rapport with the product, engineering, marketing, and community teams, and contributing to small features.
                                                                                      • Next 3 Months: Acquire a deep understanding through past and new user research of the biggest opportunities to serve different segments of our users.  This will include specific focus on improving the experience for highly active users and moderators, providing high quality tools and features they need to contribute to Stack Overflow in a meaningful way.  You’ll build prototypes, talk with users, write specs and pitch projects to your team and the company.
                                                                                      • Next 8 months: You can expect to start taking a leadership role developing the long term roadmap for the public Q&A sites. You’ll be involved not just in product development, but in defining long term strategy, improving our processes, and advocating for all developers that use Stack Overflow.

We like to work in public. Not only does that mean being open within the company about what the product team is building, we also try and bring the developer community in as soon as we’re able.  Here are some examples of how we have done this historically:

We’re looking to hire the best person wherever you are in the world. We work remotely so you can work from home and interact with the team over Google Hangouts and chat, usually during US or European working hours. We have offices in New York, London and Munich, so if you’re in (or want to relocate to) one of those cities you can, and our offices are awesome.

Choco is one of the fastest-growing European startups. The company was founded in March 2018 by entrepreneurs who helped start companies such as Zalando (IPO), Lazada (sold to Alibaba) and Foodora (IPO).

We are a B2B platform connecting food suppliers and buyers on a global scale. While our technology is reshaping one of the oldest and most valuable industries on the planet - the food supply chain, we are obsessed with our mission to eradicate global food waste.

To do this, we have raised one of the largest Series A funding rounds in European history. We are looking for outstandingly driven individuals, who are able to assume extreme ownership and responsibility in shaping our global expansion.

                                                                                      What you will do

We are looking for a Chief of Staff that will work directly with our CEO on all strategic and tactical matters driving the company forward. This role requires an exceptional leader - one who knows how to lead from principle and respect-based influence rather than authority - and who brings a great deal of wisdom, judgment and the ability to grasp complex organizational concepts.

Ultimately, the role exists to achieve leverage for the CEO by creating and leading thoughtful, lightweight, highly-efficient discussions and processes across a broad spectrum of situations (e.g. planning, technical development, employees, and stakeholder management), driving needed actions through the team and communicating efficiently to align people and teams.

In this highly visible role, it is equally important that this person is a strong individual contributor as much as a team player. The Chief of Staff must be able to work collaboratively with cross functional departments to guide project execution, remove obstacles, push to completion, and ensure initiatives meet committed timelines. This is a strategic role that requires a combination of character, judgment and people skills.

Beyond deep understanding of how the company works, most importantly the Chief of Staff must possess a deep understanding of how Choco operates as a member and extension of the leadership team.

                                                                                      This includes:

                                                                                      • Carry the Choco culture as an extension of the CEO.

                                                                                      • Drive operational and planning processes to completion in partnership with the whole leadership team.

                                                                                      • Own ad-hoc projects small to large: this could include implementation of new tactical initiatives, research and providing intelligence, expansion explorations, strategic partnerships, and more.

                                                                                      • Review and potentially prepare internal and external communications: reports, speeches or presentations.

                                                                                      • Monitor information flow, act as a gatekeeper, ensure the CEO’s involvement in a project or decision-making process at the right moment.

                                                                                      • Manage team meetings, including planning, agenda, notes and execution of action items. Distill discussions and thoughts into strategic plans. Facilitate preparation for internal and external meetings.

                                                                                      • Develop and execute impactful long term strategy for the company

                                                                                      • Be involved in all top-level decisions, act as a sounding board to the CEO and Exec leadership for new ideas and initiatives, and prioritize and lead projects.

                                                                                      What You'll Need

                                                                                      • Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work seamlessly with a variety of personalities and functional disciplines. Ability to build relationships with cross-functional colleagues.

                                                                                      • Exceptional and demonstrated business and product judgment. In spite of this role being administrative in nature, the CoS needs to have strong independent product and business judgment, i.e. be "right a lot" when it comes to making calls in these domains.

                                                                                      • Strong operator. We need a leader who is great at creating structure, organization and (lightweight) process and getting everyone aligned within them. Strong prioritization skills and discipline are critical.

                                                                                      • Has a 6th sense for identifying important strategic priorities to direct CEO focus on

                                                                                      • Exhibits optimistic leadership and resilience. The CoS must look around at the sea of execution challenges and see them as a great puzzle to be solved. We should never hear this person complain or commiserate or talk about how everything is "broken;" rather, he/she must seek out problems and solve them, continually striving to make Choco better, stronger, faster. He/she must also be naturally enthusiastic to the point that they infect others, which ups everyone's game. Must have a bias for action and accountability.

                                                                                      • Customer Obsessed. This person must be motivated by doing the right thing for our customers, externally and internally. She/he must establish and operate from first principles rather than being an order taker. He/she will not only "take the hills," with respect to the inner workings of Choco, but also identify the hills to take, i.e. be proactive in identifying opportunities to improve the way we work, prioritize appropriately and jump in without prodding.

                                                                                      • An extremely organized critical thinker - your project plans are always detailed, up to date, and digestible, and you're comfortable setting and holding people accountable to deadlines.

                                                                                      • Clear Communicator. You are a clear and concise communicator with the ability to synthesize a lot of information quickly and highlight the key insights.

                                                                                      • High comfort in working under pressured, time-sensitive, and rapidly evolving situations.

                                                                                      • A passion to radically transition food systems to operate sustainably. Obsessed about building a global champion.

                                                                                      • Academically, given that we wish to graduate Chiefs of Staff into managerial roles, we apply the same criteria: candidates should have an undergraduate degree in business, or similar from a top institution. Advanced degrees, like an MBA, are not required, but can make a candidate more interesting. 3-5 years experience at a top-tier organisation in a highly challenging role are ideal.

                                                                                      What we offer you

This is a unique opportunity to shape one of the fastest growing companies on the globe together with the CEO and the executive team.

The role is highly demanding and will reward you with an unprecedented learning curve. Marc Andresson, co-founder of the venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz wrote: “software is eating the world.” That statement is just as true today as it was eight years ago.  Software is embedded in our day-to-day, and few industries are immune.  Peak behind the code and you will find brilliant engineers pushing the boundaries of what is possible.

Talk to any engineering leader and they will tell you that access to talent is their number one barrier to building software and growing their business.  Research the industry and you read about the 1 million computer-programming jobs that will go unfilled in 2020.

That is where Andela comes in. We help engineering leaders at companies big and small bridge that gap. We are building tools, systems and processes to connect talent, no matter where they live, with the opportunities to do great things. To date, we have identified 1,000+ software engineers from Africa and placed them as full-time, embedded members of development teams at over 200 tech companies. Along the way, we have raised $180M from Al Gore’s venture fund, Generation Partners, Google Ventures, Spark Capital, the Chan-Zuckerberg Initiative and Serena Ventures.

And we are just getting started.

                                                                                      Our People
