      The market, problem & vision

We live in the age of SPAM. The two main sources of it are recruiting and sales. Why can’t the good companies and good employees just find each other? Why can’t businesses just sell to happy clients?

It boils down to competition - companies fight for the best talent and for the best clients. Some throw piles of money at external agencies, some try to abuse the contacts of their staff. The SPAM is just a side-effect of a process designed to minimize the cost - but ending up inefficient and expensive in secondary costs.

Every industry veteran will tell you one thing - the best deals and the best hires are not made by ‘solutions’ - they are made by people. People with vested interest in the success of the business they work with. Today, these people are locked in a contract, bring in a ton of business and get a small cut. Or they are spammed for favors, help occasionally and get nothing for it.

And they hate it. In 2019 in the UK alone there were 8,450 new recruiting agencies started by top recruiters leaving their jobs and setting up solo or in small groups. Sales staff deals with this by doubling the churn rate compared to any other role, always hunting for a fairer commission.

On top of that, there are people who have much better access to talent than recruiters and better access to clients than sales staff - but they are left untapped. Why wouldn’t a tech company collaborate on recruiting directly with a talent pool built around an open source project? Why wouldn’t a SaaS business distribute through folks who offer training workshops in the relevant vertical?

At its core, this is a coordination problem. As a company: How do I find and on-board all these external partners? How do they learn about what I need and how do I weed through and prioritize what they send me back? How do I identify and fairly pay the ones who deliver value?

Primeflow is our answer to these questions, enabling companies to work with external partners who make recruiting and sales happen.

      The product

Primeflow enables companies to set up direct acquisition channels through scalable partnerships with external contributors. Our pilot has a mix of growth companies who look to recruit a lot, b2b businesses who want to sell through ecosystem partners and VCs who want to coordinate their startup scouts.

At the heart of Primeflow is it’s reputation engine powered by a layered dataset of:

      • demand & supply data

      • relationship linkage

      • transaction data

While managing the coordination between companies and their partners, we build a clear picture of what is being requested & delivered, between which parties and at what price.

This reputation engine powers an efficient user experience, helps the users establish new business based on their previous track record and ensures that people get rewarded based on their merit. And it’s also what will make Primeflow defendable and valuable in the long run.

      • Strong understanding of modern, object-oriented PHP development
      • In-depth experience developing or auditing client-side JavaScript
      • Demonstrated ability to exploit and mitigate application-level vulnerabilities

    • We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the team dedicated to driving Gatsby’s open source project. Join us in our mission to make website development fun by making it simple.

      About us

Gatsby is a remote-first, community-focused team working to build a high-performance, fun to use, accessible, and astonishingly flexible presentation layer for any data source. Our core values include transparency (our work is public most of the time); creating a safe, high-trust team; building incredible developer experiences; maintaining a healthy working environment; and helping deliver web experiences that feel amazing to use on every device and connection type.

      Details of the role

Type of Work: Full-time employee Location: Remote

      Why we need you

Gatsby is the future of the web, and the web is an incredibly diverse ecosystem. This means we need leaders who can intuitively appreciate the value that the commercial services we build offer customers. The open source team is expanding rapidly and we need someone with a deep understanding of the very cool technology, but an equally profound sense of empathy required to grow both individual contributors and future leaders in this critical part of our company.

      Why this is interesting

Gatsby is a wildly popular open-source framework that is changing the architecture of the web. The open-source team is responsible for driving the roadmap for the large and complex codebase that is Gatsby.js. Between their own contributions and the community, they merge nearly 500 pull requests in a typical month. You’ll help lead the team in not only tackling key technological challenges, but also bolstering and focusing community contributions.

      Your responsibilities

You will be responsible for people, projects, and processes. You will partner with your team and peers to:

      • Foster an inclusive environment through empathy, not just inside engineering, but across all the teams in Gatsby, and beyond to the open source community.
      • Wrangle many timezones and introduce remote work best practices, as you will lead a geographically diverse team.
      • Exercise good judgement in interacting with the enthusiastic community, as an exemplar for your team in this area.
      • Partner with Product and Design to find the best blend of quality, agility, and work/life sanity.
      • Make sure your team is fully equipped for their job, including:

        • Context - make sure they know what is happening outside engineering
        • Vision - make sure they know what it coming next, even if we’re not there yet
        • Skills - ensure that each team member grows and feels confident in delivery
        • Tools - choose and evolve the dev environment (with the team’s input)
        • Processes - hand-in-hand with tools, make sure that we’re continuously evolving our planning and dev approach to have just enough structure to keep us on track
        • Empower your team members by offering them clear ownership of technical challenges in a world where you and other leaders are still wearing many hats and finding the ones with the best fit.
        • Collaborate with other engineering managers to evolve the management practices at Gatsby. We’re all learning more every day!
This might be you if you….
      • Have successfully managed people, including recruiting and hiring, coaching, mentoring, evaluating, and promoting.
      • Have experience working with (and ideally contributing to, or managing) open source communities and products.
      • Have strong communication skills, verbal and written.
      • Genuinely enjoy helping people, both inside the company and out.
      • Have a consistent track record of delivering high-quality software in regular, iterative releases through coordinating a remote team.
      • Are able to coordinate and work with teams and stakeholders across the organization, and even beyond the company, including effective project management skills in an environment where you may not control many of the variables.
      • Have previous experience with React, Node.js, and GraphQL. Gatsby is built on React, Node, and GraphQL, so you should be experienced with usage and the syntax.
      • Have strong empathy and a willingness to define the nuances of team roles (including your own!) as you go.
The best parts of this job
      • The people and culture of a team genuinely invested in building something great.
      • You’ll be helping curate one of the most popular, fastest growing open source frameworks in the world.
      • You’ll be leading a group of supportive, talented, and friendly people towards delivering a great framework and developer experience.
      • You’ll have the opportunity (even expectation) to constantly learn and innovate, in both tech approaches and process definition.
      • Your role will be key to making Gatsby the next way to build on the web—and a technology that enables the next billion internet users.
      • You will get to look back on this time as the “early, exciting days” of Gatsby. You’ll get to watch members of your team become future leaders and luminaries in a space that isn’t fully defined or formed yet.
The worst parts of this job (maybe)
      • The community and our team aren’t always operating as equals, and don’t always have perfectly aligned motivations. Your job includes the unenviable task of helping us figure out the right focus in a variety of complex situations, and with a wide range of (understandable, but sometimes mutually exclusive) community expectations.
      • We’re all still figuring a lot of stuff out. Things can feel unstructured or messy. Part of your job is to smooth out what we collectively don’t like. And that can be hard.
      • The company is growing fast, which means lots of people wearing lots of hats, and sometimes exchanging them for new ones. Doing this while protecting a team (or individual’s) sense of ownership and security is hard. And it’s part of this job. Sorry.
      • Product and strategic direction can change. We’re building a whole new area of growth in an absolutely huge potential market. Absorbing (and/or pushing back as you see fit) that change so your team doesn’t feel unnecessary churn is also hard. And also part of this job. Still sorry.
      Benefits
      • Unlimited vacation policy, with a minimum of 15 days paid vacation time
      • Amazing health, dental, and vision insurance for you and your family (US only)
      • Skip the commute with remote work
      • 3 months of paid parental leave covering both adoption and foster placement
      • Fly to cool locations 3x/year for company-wide meetups
      • Stock options in a fast-growing startup
      • Gatsby Sabbatical: 4 weeks of paid vacation after 4 years tenure
      Equal Opportunity Statement

Gatsby is an equal opportunity employer. We eagerly seek applicants of diverse backgrounds and hire without regard to race, color, gender identity, religion, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, physical abilities (or disability), age, sexual orientation, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. Cultivating inclusivity and diversity is a top priority.

Headhunters and recruitment agencies may not submit resumes/CVs through this website or directly to managers. Gatsby does not accept unsolicited headhunter and agency resumes, and will not pay fees to any third-party agency or company that does not have a signed agreement with Gatsby.

      About Radish Lab

Radish Lab is a full-service interactive creative agency that focuses on people and projects that create an impact in our world. We’re headquartered in Brooklyn, New York with an office in Berlin, Germany.

We build innovative websites, applications, data visualizations, and interactive experiences for non-profits, cultural institutions, universities, advocacy organizations, health, and science-based organizations, as well as social businesses.

We've worked with the International Rescue Committee, United Nations, UNICEF, American Cancer Society, Promundo, Columbia University, BMW Foundation, (RED), and the Guggenheim.

We’re looking to have an impact on the world using design and technology.

    • The data volume for our largest customers has increased more than 4x in the last year, and we’re scaling Heap to meet the demand. Our backend supports an expressive set of queries that need to come back with sub-second latencies and reflect up-to-the-minute data. To make this possible, we’re working on a novel distributed infrastructure.

We’re looking to bring on an Infrastructure Engineer to lead the DevOps side of this challenge. Help us de-risk our stack, add more 9s to our availability, and incorporate open source tooling.

You’ll own the design and development of our DevOps toolchain. You’ll build deploy pipelines and manage configurations. You’ll set up performance metrics and act on them to scale a complex distributed system.

We’re looking for stronger software engineering skills than a typical DevOps role requires. This is a building role, which happens to focus on stability, operability, and tooling, not an ops role. You’ll need to be able to understand our codebase and debug issues as they come up. Some example projects:

      • Determine how we'll do service discovery and incorporate it into a codebase that assumes static locations for services.

      • Figure out how we’ll package our code and deploy it from test → stage → production, and eventually eliminate manual deploys on production machines.

      • Where will new instances come from? Pre-baked AMIs? Terraform with vanilla images and a bunch of salt? Containers? Something else?

      • Determine how we’ll monitor, backup, and otherwise operate our Kafka cluster.

      • Much, much more.

We’d like to get to know you if:

      • You have experience with modern DevOps tooling - infrastructure as code, configuration management, CI pipelines, package managers - we need someone who has deep knowledge of the full DevOps ecosystem.

      • You communicate with clarity and precision. We care about this almost as much as your technical ability.

      • You’re self-directed with a strong sense for relative priority. There is low-hanging fruit everywhere. We need someone who has a good sense for which projects will have the most impact.

      • You have experience with AWS, especially EC2, VPC, and ELB.

      • (Bonus) You have experience with our stack. Heap runs on Kafka, ZooKeeper, PostgreSQL, Redis, and Node.js, with Terraform, SaltStack, and CircleCI for orchestration, configuration, and continuous integration.

Our HQ is in SF, and we have an office in New York, but a large part of our engineering team is remote. We cover relocation costs, and can sponsor visas. We'd love to hear from you, no matter where you are!

Heap has raised $95M in funding from NEA, Y Combinator, Menlo Ventures, SVAngel, Sam Altman, Garry Tan, Alexis Ohanian, Harj Taggar, Ram Shriram, and others.

People are what make Heap awesome. Regardless of age, education, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or any personal characteristics, we want everyone to feel welcome. We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive equal opportunity workplace everyone can call home.

    • Formstack transforms the way you collect data and put it to work.

We are looking for a Senior Software Developer to help us accomplish this mission!

Formstack is a 14-year-old company with its roots in Indianapolis. Our customers span 110 different countries, and our employees live and work across the U.S. and the globe. We provide a work environment that is flexible and provides great freedom for those who can perform. We are seeking people who demonstrate an ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultures and backgrounds.

      Who You Are:

You are an experienced full-stack developer talented in Node.js, Java, and JavaScript. You are a supporter and advocate for a completely serverless AWS stack (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, and S3).  You are a problem solver and are motivated to learn. You are able to help plan features from problem statements and loosely defined requirements. You are able to break large projects in manageable chunks to make them easier to work on and consume. You aren't scared to be wrong and don't always have to be right, and you have the ability to leave your ego at the door. You can set measurable goals for yourself and you take the team and personal responsibility seriously.  There are opportunities to develop UI elements in React yourself, so a basic understanding of front-end technologies (Angular.js, ReactJS, CSS, and web components) is desirable.

      What You Will Do:

      • Your primary focus will be the development of server-side capabilities on our eSignature SaaS platform and ensuring high performance and responsiveness to requests from the front-end.
      • You will execute projects, fix bugs, write tests, reduce technical debt, and maintain our documentation.
      • You will collaborate with various teams on a daily basis to make sure what we are creating will support both our internal and external stakeholders.
      • You will work with a Scrum methodology to make sure features ship as they are planned and scheduled.

      What We Are Looking For:

      • Knowledge of Node.js and frameworks such as Express to build RESTful APIs returning JSON
      • Understanding the nature of asynchronous programming, its quirks and workarounds, and experience writing or using JavaScript promises and/or async/await
      • DevOps experience and mentality - You recognize the importance of automating all build, test, and deploy activities for an application and have experience with CI/CD tools such as CircleCI, Jenkins, GitHub Actions and provisioning tools such as Terraform or Cloudformation.
      • Solid foundation in writing queries and updating NoSQL databases such as AWS DynamoDB
      • Experience using the AWS Javascript API to interface with S3 and DynamoDB
      • Good understanding of server-side and client-side javascript build tools and environments such as npm, yarn, Lerna, webpack, and babel
      • Understanding of serverless tools (AWS Lambda, serverless.com and/or Claudia.js frameworks)
      • Basic understanding of front-end technologies, such as HTML5, and CSS3 and React/AngularJS
      • Creating database schemas that represent and support business processes
      • Implementing automated testing platforms and unit tests
      • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git
      • Familiarity with object-oriented development with Java a plus - especially with using Java APIs for PDF manipulation such as iText, Apache PDFBox, or JPedal

      Bonus Points:

      • Mobile app development experience
      • Experience working with well-performing agile teams
      • Experience working on a SaaS product
      • Experience integrating with 3rd party web applications (through REST API))
      • AWS certifications

      What Formstack Offers:

      • Free health plans, as well as company-paid Dental, Vision, Disability and Life Insurance Benefits for full-time employees.
      • Unlimited PTO for all employees
      • 401k with matching company contribution for full-time employees
      • The most up-to-date technology, including company-issued Macs, the latest software and other tools needed to excel at your job
      • Company-paid conferences and extended learning
      • Yearly company gatherings

We recognize several levels of seniority and experience for developers, and tie compensation and responsibility to this. We are looking for all levels of developers for this position.

Software Developers are a key part of Alley’s team. Each developer will be deeply and personally involved in several client projects, and will work collaboratively with other members of the Alley team and with the client's principals as well.

Our developers need to be well-rounded technologists who have a holistic understanding of the web technology stacks that we work with, but who can also interface with clients in a professional and intelligent way.

We're not looking for rockstars, ninjas, zombies, or pirates. We're looking for smart, creative, resourceful developers who want to work with impressive clients and who take pride in their work.

      Qualifications

      • Our primary development language is PHP. You must be fully fluent in PHP and have worked with it in a professional context before.

      • Prior experience with WordPress is a major plus. If you haven’t worked with WordPress, you should be excited to learn and develop with it.

      • We make heavy use of ES6 JavaScript (particularly React, as well as Node) and related tooling, including webpack. Previous experience is a plus, and a willingness to learn it is essential.

      • Alley prides itself on its ability to address unusual, novel, and complex problems that deal with the intersection of technology, business, and content production. You should understand and be able to discuss web technologies and systems conceptually, and be able to demonstrate that you can learn a new language, technology stack, or framework quickly and on demand.

      • You should feel comfortable at a Unix command line, even if you aren't an expert.

      • You must know your way around git and understand version control well, and be able to carry out typical operations with it, including branching, merging, submitting code for peer review, and reviewing your peers’ code yourself.

      • We apply Scrum as a development methodology, and broadly endorse Agile as a philosophy. You must be open to working this way as well, and prior experience is a plus.

      • You should also have very strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to wield them with both team members and clients.

      • Important “soft skills” at Alley include: discipline concerning delivery dates, stylistic appreciation of what makes code good and readable, and a positive attitude about documentation, tickets, issue tracking, and timesheets.

Note: In your cover letter, please provide links to at least three separate code samples, along with a description of each detailing what you wrote and why, why you're proud of it, and how it reflects your experience and abilities. At least one of your code samples must demonstrate PHP knowledge.

It’s OK if you didn’t write 100% of the code you submit because you were part of a team that worked on it together, or because it includes open source components. In these cases, please explain what your specific contributions to the codebase were. We cannot accept any application without code samples.

      About Alley

We offer competitive salaries and company subsidized medical, dental and vision benefits. We also offer a 401(k) with company matching, a profit sharing plan, and an allowance for work-related expenses.

We are a fully distributed company, meaning we don’t have a set work location. Team members can choose to work from home, or from a co-working space. We’ll furnish your home office and provide an allowance for needed supplies, or rent you a co-working space.

    • Join us in our mission to make website development fun by making it simple

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the team dedicated to driving Gatsby’s open source project.

      Type of Work: Full-time employee

      Location: Remote

Make sure your team is fully equipped for their job, including:

From stock quotes to Twitter streams, Apache logs to WordPress blogs, our products are extending what's possible with data, delivering on the promise that good things come from connecting the dots. We unite Elasticians across 30+ countries (and counting!), 18 timezones and 30 different languages into one coherent team, while the broader community spans across over 100 countries.

      • Lead cloud-related strategy for community, events, and analyst relations

      • Represent the company at various speaking engagements, conferences, and press interviews.
      • Lead a growing Elastic Stack PMM team including hiring and development of talent.

      • Several years of experience leading outbound product initiatives passionate about enterprise customers with complex requirements.
      • Experience leading product and/or product marketing functions at a specialized business unit, collaborating with matrixed generalist marketing, sales, and partner organizations.
