Breaking News Editor -- Morning

We're looking for a sharp, quick-working editor with an eye for news to capture breaking stories as they emerge, particularly in the early mornings. You'll be responsible for covering stories published in the pre-workday hours and through the morning, working with the editorial team to populate the news space and other verticals with important and trending stories. We're looking for someone who has an exceptional ear for tone to write unique and clear copy that's in keeping with Digg's voice, sensitive to the story at hand and optimized for search traffic. If you're passionate about news, the strongest writer you know, and are excited to make Digg an even smarter and more informative space, we'd love to speak with you.

  • 1+ years of experience writing in a news-related field
  • Knowledge of key news sources and an eye for quality outlets and reporting
  • Exceptional and efficient writing, self-editing and proofreading skills
  • Ability to work with a team and receive feedback
  • Ability to work early mornings beginning at 4:00 AM EST (either an early bird or someone who lives in Europe/further east)

Requested, but not required:

  • Familiarity with basic HTML and image editing
  • Understanding of best practices around copyright and fair use
  • Experience with community-driven platforms like Reddit, Medium and others

Starting Salary: $60,000 USD
