Our customers need on-boarding and training before they can master the Platform.sh fun. Can you deliver breathtaking and exhilarating tech demos, and explain the intricacies of command line tools? We run OEM PaaS services for famous brands like Magento Enterprise Cloud Edition and Sensio Cloud - can you help us build and run these vibrant software products?

Directly reporting to our Director of Customer Solutions and in close interaction with our Sales, Support, Engineering and Infrastructure teams, you will be responsible for selling and proactively ensuring a stable and secure product experience:

In a given day you might:

  • Tailoring product to meet prospects requirements

  • Working closely with sales teams for product demos and answering technical questions

  • On-boarding and training new customers

  • Demonstrating customer business knowledge in the light of our product utilization

  • Analyzing customers’ technical needs to suggest consulting services and meet their requirements

  • Supporting our large accounts in their daily use of our product

  • Liaising with engineering teams when necessary for product improvement

  • Getting up to speed regularly with our new product features

  • You will give our customers their very first impression of our product, leading the path to high satisfaction in their product experience. 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Proven successful experience in handling technical customer relations in the web industry

  • Demonstrated the ability to successfully matching customer expectations with product capacity

  • Extensive knowledge of web application architecture and services (DNS, CDN, web servers, databases, cache layers, etc.) and distributed systems.

  • Extensive knowledge of web development workflows and existing tools (git, CI tools)

  • Knowledge of common web applications and frameworks: Magento Ecommerce, Symfony, Drupal, eZ Platform, or Typo3 

  • Knowledge of cloud services (AWS, Azure)

  • Dynamism with a cool head

Preferred Qualifications

  • Mad Linux (Debian) skills

  • Public speaking experience

    This role will share responsibility for designing, engineering and scaling our backend systems and services.


    We are looking for someone who:

    • Experienced in system design and distributed computing.

    • Has a wide range of experience and expertise across languages, frameworks and approaches such as Javascript, Typescript, and ReactJS, NodeJS, scripting, serverless, and microservices.

    • Is an expert in using git.

    • Has worked with CI/CD processes before (CircleCI/Jenkins preferably).

    • Has an extremely high bar for quality.

    • Is thorough and detail-oriented.

    • Can learn fast.

    • Has great communication skills, particularly with respect to writing.

    • Gains deep satisfaction from helping to make products better.

    • Has experience of working in a small business or startup environment.

    • Preferably has experience collaborating with diverse, geographically-dispersed teams.

    Core Responsibilities:
    • Own backend development and contribute to other areas of the product.

    • Contribute to the technical direction of the Shorthand tool.

    Qualifications:
    • A minimum 10 years of experience in Software Engineering roles.

    • A minimum 3 years of experience in web application development.

    • Thorough knowledge of NodeJS and the web.

    • Experience with AWS.

    • A university qualification in computer science or a closely related field, or equivalent career experience required.

    Your  Role

    As a Cloud & Site Reliability Engineer, you will be a subject matter expert in building highly reliable, highly scalable features and infrastructure. You’ll use DevOps principles to ensure that Bold Penguin’s software systems are always available and ready to scale to meet growing demands.

    What You’ll Do

    • Ensure the reliability, performance, and availability of our platform by working as part of a cross-functional product team
    • Participate in agile ceremonies such as iteration planning, retrospective, and daily standups
    • Be part of the shared on-call rotation and proactively research possible issues affected the availability of our platform
    • Understand and clearly articulate tradeoffs in architecture decisions with regards to cost, security, operational efficiencies, performance, and availability
    • Build and maintain infrastructure with executable code (IaC) and automated delivery pipelines
    • Be passionate about Cloud/DevOps/SRE concepts such as Immutable Infrastructure, Cattle vs Pets, Infrastructure as Code, Delivery Pipelines

    Skills & Qualifications

    • Deep, hands-on expertise with AWS Cloudformation and other Infrastructure as Code tools
    • Experience with Amazon Web Services; specifically EC2, ECS, ELB, CodePipeline, RDS, Redshift, S3, IAM, and Lambda
    • Ability to articulate Cloud & DevOps concepts to a variety of technical & non-technical team members
    • Bonus points for expertise in implementing security & compliance frameworks such as SOC/2, NIST 800-53, and NIST 800-171 especially in Amazon Web Services
