We build SaaS/PaaS, mobile apps, games, and have been working with emerging technologies like AI, AR, Blockchain for some time. We’re based in the USA (NYC) but are increasingly remote with team members around the world. Our business model is to assemble all-star teams from our MindTrust of top professionals to guarantee project success. We work closely with clients/partners as their TaaS (Team as a Service) partner. We’re currently lucky enough to be working with clients ranging from Fortune 10 companies to tech startups and everybody in between.

The Senior PHP/CMS Developer will work directly with MindTrust Labs Product Managers, Digital Strategists, and various teams to execute on projects encompassing (Web apps, Web sites, landing pages, microsites) and private (intranet and client portal) web properties.

The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of PHP frameworks (Laravel, Symfony, CodeIgniter, Yii, etc), and popular CMS/Ecommerce platforms (WordPress, Drupal, Magento, etc.).

MindTrust Labs is a fast-growing company, and we often act and adapt quickly to rapidly changing business needs. The ideal candidate will be able to juggle multiple projects, discuss prioritization, and relay expectations between multiple teams with varied technical skill-sets.

Successful candidates should be able to solve coding challenges presented during interviews using PHP.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Expert PHP knowledge

  • Knowledge of Computer Science Fundamentals (beyond arrays, loops, and recursions)

  • Experience working with Laravel and other MVC PHP frameworks

  • Knowledge of relational database management systems, SQL and MongoDB

  • CSS framework experience (Bootstrap or similar)

  • Ability to optimize systems for performance, scalability, reliability and maintainability

  • Web-based portfolio demonstrating and speaking to involvement in projects

  • Experience working with WordPress, Drupal, Craft, ExpressionEngine, WooCommerce, Magento, and other CMS/Ecommerce platforms

Preferred Experience:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in a fast-paced environment

  • Writing and deploying PHP applications using modern tools

  • GIT or SVN experience

  • RESTful API design and development

  • Mobile-first Responsive Development experience

  • LESS or SASS experience

  • Contributions to Open Source projects

  • Agency experience preferred, but not required

    Frontastic is looking for a Solution Architect (f/m/*) as full-time or part-time employee or freelancer. We are a remote-first company currently operating in the Europe/Berlin timezone.

    As Solution Architect you are the technical pillar of our arising sales team and support us in the distribution of Frontastic. You will work closely with developers of partners and potential customers, convincing their technical decision-makers and making sure that our solution scenarios fully meets customer needs. You have a background in Software Engineering and a deep understanding of the E Commerce industry? You are communicative and love to talk with tech teams, CTOs and decision makers of potential customers on equal terms?

    This is not a junior position, which doesn't mean you must have worked in this role before. In any case, you are aware of your technical ambassador talent and are able to excite people.

    WHAT YOU'LL DO

    • You demonstrate the Frontastic platform (architecture and functional scope) and participate in follow-up sales meetings to discuss and finalise technical questions with our customer tech teams and/or CTOs

    • You take responsibility for all technical questions in the sales team

    • You perform hackathons and proof of concepts workshops together with partners and customers

    • You educate and empower developers who want to build on Frontastic through technical content, including sample applications, presentations and blog posts

    • You give customers support in the development of the overall architecture including other involved systems and the migration strategy

    • You develop convincing customer-specific answers in the technical part of requests for proposal and specifications

    WHO YOU ARE

    • You reside and work in Europe

    • You have good writing and communication skills in English

    • Speaking German is an advantage (but not necessary), as we currently have a large share of German customers.

    • You're an experienced software developer, you have written and deployed a production application more than once. Experience with React, Atomic Design Patterns and Service Oriented Architectures are a plus.

    • You understand that there are always trade-offs between different software architectures and are able to discuss requirements and solutions without with openess and respect.

    • You're experienced in the e-commerce field

    • You understand customer requirements and problems and are able to translate them into product features

    • You can relate technical benefits and constraints of a platform to business requirements and are willing to embrace problems by non-technical shareholders and incorporate their requirements.

    • You have an open and honest personality with a good sense of humour and a confident appearance

    • You're good at networking and getting in touch with others quickly

    We're looking for product-minded engineers to play a critical role in specifying our underlying technical architecture and establishing the foundation for a highly scalable, and extensible mission-critical global SaaS. 


    Responsibilities

    • Work directly with the Head of Product and Engineering to translate functional objectives into technical execution
    • Play a critical role in establishing our technical roadmap inline with our launch objectives and delivery of our MVP
    • This is a Greenfield project where you will grow our stack using the best tools for the job
    • Define and implement an initial CI/CD pipeline - with emphasis on automated testing and code review
    • Establish a highly available technical infrastructure optimised for global reach
    • Define and take ownership of our internal and public-facing APIs - and strive to deliver best-in-class developer experiences
    • Champion industry best practises and software development methodologies, and stay abreast of new tools and trends which may prove useful
    • Establish a strong, customer-centric engineering culture of problem-solving, continuous improvement and always asking "why?"

    Desired Experience

    • Have experience securing highly sensitive data
    • Experience implementing serverless architectures and technologies (and generally managing high throughput traffic)
    • Have strong experience implementing micro-services architectures
    • Have experience with a variety of cloud-services and container orchestration tools and systems (AWS, Azure, Docker, K8S)

    Bonus

    • Knowledge of payments schemes and the regulatory landscape surrounding payments
    • Interest or familiarity with ML (in Python, R or similar)
    • Familiarity with industry standard analytics and data visualisation tools (Sumo Logic, Looker, Tableau, etc)
    • Experience with card payments and alternative payment methods
    • Prior experience working with e-commerce platforms (Magento, Bigcommerce, etc)
