KNØX is looking for an experienced React Developer to help build our custody product. Our customers trust us with their assets; you will help our them direct those assets with an interface that is built for peace-of-mind.

As a member of KNØX, you will work closely with our QA and marketing teams to bring consistency and simplicity to our clients' experience. As an individual, you should be passionate about the details and think about systems, not just screens. For us, transparency and predictability are not just elements of good design, they are necessary for a secure system.

Our team is based out of our office in Montréal, QC, but we are interested in working with experienced remote developers located in GMT -3 to GMT -8.

    Requirements

    • 3+ years developing web applications
    • Deep knowledge of the React ecosystem and the software development life cycle
    • Interest or experience working in Typescript
    • Ability to balance technical and business needs, and to collaborate with other developers, designers, and product managers
    • Proficiency in English, spoken and written

    Responsibilities

    • Plan feature implementation across sprints with the product owner.
    • Rapidly develop new features for our suite of products, and create prototypes of new products.
    • Teach and promote best practices in front-end development.
    • Ensure our products are well-made and reliable, using modern testing frameworks and overseeing QA processes.

    Nice to have

    • Degree in computer science or related field.
    • Experience with financial services or blockchain-based systems
    • Knowledge of Go, Python, or PostgreSQL
    • Familiarity with web security standards
  • Want to work on a simulation IDE? Build out an interactive designer for models of systems ranging from businesses and hospitals through to the environment and biological systems. Focus on providing first class UX and friendly feedback to help people solve their problems without frustration. Build out new visualisations to let people see their systems clearly.

As one of our first hires, you will work directly with the software engineer co-founder. In this role you will have a large influence on the product and its future, and a large impact on technology choices, UX and style.

Sheetless has a fully statically typed technology stack, a combination of TypeScript and Rust. On the TypeScript side, we're using a base of React/Next.js, Redux and Immer as the core libraries/frameworks. There's also use of web APIs to provide a rich and responsive experience, including SVG, canvas, and WebWorker.

We're using Material UI as our base component library, although as we grow defining a more bespoke style and UX will become more important. As our first frontend-focused member of the team, you will need to be comfortable and capable of designing, prototyping, and building out UI/UX of the platform.

Experience in any of these areas would be a plus (if you have experience in all of these areas then please do contact us!):

    • TypeScript programming to a comfortable level. Experience in JS or statically typed languages also. Overall experience in the range of 3-5+ years.

    • React and Redux development, using hooks, or experience in related technologies also (Vue, MobX, etc).

    • Building custom visualisations, with Canvas, SVG or WebGL.

    • Working with Rest API web services. GraphQL a plus.

    • Working with WebSockets for providing interactive client<>client services.

    • Working with and extending browser code editors, such as Monaco or CodeMirror.

    Compensation: £50k – £90k

    Equity: 0.5% – 1.5%

We’re looking for a Front End Developer to join our team. More specifically, we’re looking for someone who is comfortable taking design mockups and replicating them with code. Often, this code is in the form of a custom WordPress theme.

You’ll be working closely with our production team, including design staff and developers, to build cool stuff for our clients. Speaking of clients, most of ours are companies, organizations and people who we feel are making a positive impact in the world. So if you’re interested in doing rewarding work that you can be proud of, we just might be the right place for you.

Here’s the kind of stuff you’ll do:

    • Develop new user-facing layouts and features

    • Build reusable code and libraries for future use

    • Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs

    • Optimize code for maximum speed and scalability

    • Collaborate with other team members

    • Provide strategic recommendations for design implementation

In order to be great at this job, you’ll need:

    • Strong skills with HTML5 and CSS3

    • Functional knowledge of Javascript/jQuery and LESS

    • Experience working with responsive frameworks, like Bootstrap or Foundation

    • The ability to build custom WordPress themes and strong familiarity with concepts such as custom post types and custom fields

    • A general understanding of SEO

    • Familiarity with Photoshop and Adobe Creative Cloud

    • Ideally, you’ll also have a decent aesthetic eye and be comfortable elaborating on design concepts, style tiles, and general branding to create derivative layouts and interface elements without explicit design instruction.

Have we scared you away yet?

No? OK, great. Because we have exciting news:

In exchange for your services, you'll be rewarded with a flexible work schedule, the option to telecommute as you'd like, competitive pay, unlimited leave, as well as participation in our annual shutdown (often two weeks off, sometimes more, at the end of the year). Plus, we celebrate most federal holidays by not working. Perhaps most importantly, you'll be spending your time making things that actually matter.

We welcome applicants from around the world, but please, no outsourcing companies or staffing agencies.

To apply, please email [email protected] Use the subject line "Make It Count" and be sure to include a link to your portfolio and/or GitHub.
