About the Role

Hashicorp is a multi-cloud company that believes in beautiful, simple developer tooling for infrastructure operations. Terraform exemplifies this via Providers, in some ways Terraform is its provider ecosystem as they are such an integral part of using the product. The Provider Ecosystem group is responsible for maintaining and growing the number of providers available to our users as well as making sure the development and on-boarding experience is great.

The group works with our major cloud partners to ensure a high bar of quality and coverage across some of our most popular providers. Within this group we have engineers focused on provider approach to Kubernetes and VMware. These represent some of our most important resources for on-premise or private datacenter provisioning workflows.

In this role you can expect to:
  • Conduct detailed interviews and research with users to understand their problems more deeply.
  • Write PRDs (Product Requirements Document) that explain and detail problems aggregated from our customers.
  • Prioritize customer, community and internal feature requests for the team to work on.
  • Own and define the roadmap and strategy for VMware and Kubernetes with Terraform.
  • Craft the product story by understanding the ecosystem landscape and HashiCorp principles
You may be a good fit for our team if you have:
  • 2+ years in product management or have a technical background in infrastructure or DevOps.
  • Significant experience with devops tooling, or infrastructure-as-a-service.
  • Strong technical skills or knowledge.
  • Articulate and effective communication skills, both in writing and verbally.
  • Analytical with the ability to prioritize and make tradeoffs
  • Collaboration: Ability to work in a team setting with many different functional roles and priorities
  • Curiosity: Interested in determining how things work at their core, always taking the step further to learn more

As the Lead Product Manager, you will partner with our engineering and design partners to set strategy, vision, and roadmaps for the team, balancing technical trade offs, customer requests, and market trends. 

    What you’ll do

    • You will articulate user problems and product needs, iterating with a core team of design and engineering experts as well as stakeholders in research, data, support, sales, and marketing
    • You’ll take on the role of a player-coach, balancing strategy and execution among your group
    • You’ll work with engineering partners to scope solutions, evaluate strategies, and ensure quality 
    • You’ll manage the roadmap for our product area, refining feature ideas and maintaining existing features to drive business goals
    • You will coordinate across teams to maintain product and strategy alignment, eliminating surprises and finding creative ways to make the “whole greater than the sum of its parts”

    What you’ll bring

    • You have 7+ years as a Product Manager or similar role
    • Experience working within a Design Thinking, Design rich background ideal
    • You have a successful track record of diving into big projects and managing them from start to finish
    • You’ve managed or mentored a small team of product managers

    • Drive the product in the right direction
      • Build an effective roadmap to prioritize important features properly
      • Take high-level feature proposals and customer problems and break them into small iterations that engineering can work on

    About the role:

    Vault is HashiCorp’s multi-cloud security platform. Its open source community has tens of thousands of active, engaged users. Its enterprise users are some of the largest finance, healthcare, and technology companies in the world. Vault’s core use cases are in Secrets Management, Encryption and Access/Identity Management. As Vault is growing - in mind share, revenue, and team size, we are now focused on adding new use cases and enhancing existing enterprise use cases like disaster recovery & business continuity (Replication), multi-tenancy (Namespaces) among others. 

    This role is for someone who has expertise in core security technology and business critical enterprise software. You will help set the strategy, conduct user research, define requirements, and oversee execution across engineering and marketing. You will work closely with the Vault engineering team to support release cycles in order to continuously improve Vault workflows for in its core use cases. 

    • Craft the product story by understanding the landscape, user needs, and HashiCorp principles.
    • Write detailed strategy documents to set the context for the product roadmap
    • Prioritize the product roadmap by taking feedback from Vault practitioners, partners, engineering, marketing, and the HashiCorp vision.
    • Conduct user research and write Product Requirement Documents (PRDs) to distill the research into requirements for engineering to deliver
    • Communicate product status to all partners. Keep sales and marketing updated on feature releases and keep engineering informed on feature requests
    • Help with sales and marketing collateral to educate on the product story and features (Website copy, whitepapers, sales decks, FAQs, etc)
    Skills and Experience:
    • 3+ years of product management experience with operator or developer products for Enterprise
    • Strong user and market research skills
    • Ability to organize multiple stakeholders towards a common goal
