HOMER has a newly created opportunity for a Product Manager, Data to join our growing team! This role will report into our new Toronto office (TBD), until then, this position will be remote.

The Product Manager, Data will be responsible for product management of HOMER’s data products and services. This includes HOMER’s proprietary analytics framework, dashboards and data visualization tools, and data dictionary.

You will:

  • Develop a deep understanding of internal stakeholder needs for data and infrastructure across multiple business disciplines
  • Translate needs to a clear and actionable roadmap; author requirements for execution
  • Prioritize and manage a transparent product backlog to achieve maximum business value
  • Establish effective and efficient feedback cycles with internal stakeholders
  • Partner with engineering leadership to build scalable and highly reliable systems and balance tech debt with new investment
  • Partner with product and engineering leadership to invest in systems commensurate with long-term product vision
  • Quantify ROI on backend projects and facilitate trade-off discussions with leadership

You must have:

  • At least 3 - 5 years of product management experience with backend systems
  • At least 2 - 3 years experience working with data (analytics, data science or data engineering)
  • Mastery of product management best practices
  • Examples of successful experience working with internal stakeholders across multiple disciplines
  • Proven ability to influence decision-making at all levels within an organization
  • Strong knowledge of content management systems
  • Strong familiarity of events-based analytics tracking
  • Experience with agile software processes
  • BA or BS degree

Also Preferred:

  • Knowledge of data visualization tools (preferably Looker)
  • Practical experience in a content-driven consumer business
  • Working familiarity with SQL and relational database design
  • Experience architecting personalization projects

    • Create and maintain product roadmaps, feature backlogs and product documentation, and user stories.

    • Take an active role in the sales cycle for new clients and participate in the creation of proposals in response to RFPs/RFIs.

    • Participate in team and company retrospectives to help define and refine working agreements and processes to help us work more effectively together as a team. 

    • Expand relationships with existing customers

    What you’ll bring:

    • A proven track record of leading the delivery of digital products and services that delight customers.

    • 3+ years of similar experience in a digital agency, consultancy, or equivalent setting where you were accountable to several client engagements.

    • A unique blend of business and technical savviness, a big-picture vision, and the drive to work with others to make that vision a reality through your persuasive written and verbal communication skills.

      Experience with large-scale open source web technologies (such as Drupal, WordPress, and React). 

    • Experience and/or a desire to work remotely.

    • The ability to travel for conferences, client visits, or workshops, ~10% travel.

    • Ability to work efficiently, sometimes under tight deadlines

    It’d be nice if you also had: 

    • Experience building products and services for all users, regardless of ability, backed by knowledge of accessibility standards (Section 508 Refresh/WCAG 2.0 A and AA). 

    • Familiarity with other popular web development technologies, third party applications and platforms.

    • Experience or an interest in sharing your knowledge and experience at industry conferences 

    • Familiarity with Atlassian tools, such as Jira and Confluence.

    Specific requirements include the following:

    • Bachelor’s Degree favored, preferably in Business, Computer Science and/or Engineering
