The Product Manager is responsible for the success of product development at Upstatement. This person is a cross-functional leader who works with project teams to define, create, and launch digital products for our clients. As someone who can define a high-level product vision but also nail the details in the day-to-day, the Product Manager owns the full product development lifecycle, working in a collaborative and agile (when appropriate) fashion. The Product Manager drives projects from initial concept through product release to post-launch optimization.

- Partner with clients to understand their business objectives, audience/users, and vision.
- Develop product concepts, roadmaps, user testing strategies, and documentation.
- Collaborate with designers, engineers, and project managers to conceptualize, design, and deliver multi-platform applications.
- Collaborate with Business Development to identify and win new opportunities for product development.
- Craft AND execute the solution. Strategize about how to accomplish our clients' goals and work with cross-functional teams to make it happen. Balance limitations and opportunities to create the best possible work.
- User research. Architect testing strategies to answer key research questions. Write surveys, run interviews, and moderate focus groups. Analyze results and use them to drive the product forward, or help our clients prioritize.
- Engage stakeholders. Bring clients in to our process and leverage their expertise. Design and facilitate workshops to help understand a problem or brainstorm creative solutions.
- Define the product roadmap. Help our clients and internal teams find a path forward involving logical segments of work built around testable milestones.
- Zoom in and out. Keep a steady eye on the long-term schedule, the big strategic ideas, and what might be coming down the road — but also zoom into the tiny details that affect the day-to-day of making great digital products.
- You're autonomous. You see problems and get to work solving them. You're comfortable trying things you've never tried before. You take responsibility for every part of the success of the work you do.
- You're reliable and detail-oriented. You're a process nerd. You love systems. You pay attention to specifics and don't let details slip through the cracks. You can manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively between them.
- You have experience and opinions about how to tackle creative work. Maybe you're a certified Scrum master or a master design sprint facilitator. No matter your background, you're not afraid to adapt your process or try something new when the situation demands it.
- You're empathetic and comfortable addressing conflict. You challenge directly and care personally. You know how to frame a difficult situation to avoid misunderstanding, name problems, and move toward a solution. You bring optimism, clarity, and calm.
- You love great design and engineering work. Ideally, you've done some yourself. You're interested in performance and typography. You love great digital work. You understand the broad strokes of code, allowing you to translate complex technical language into simple terms.
- You're a great communicator. You can answer difficult questions on the fly and summarize complex conversations in a few clear sentences. You can help others express their own thinking.
