About Kenzie Academy
Kenzie Academy is a design and coding school breaking down the barriers to entering tech and challenging the oppressive student loan system. We offer a 1-year program as a new alternative to traditional colleges. We aim to tackle a major opportunity gap in America by developing a new talent pool. We’ll achieve this by applying a forward-thinking education model, including project-based learning, critical thinking, and soft-skills training.
The Role: Kenzie Academy is looking for an in-house Talent Advisor & Trainer to teach our current students Career Curriculum.  The purpose of Career Curriculum is to get our students ready to find jobs upon graduation.  Career Curriculum includes topics from slack etiquette to resume writing to how to conduct a job search, and everything in between.
What You'll Do:
  • Teach Career Curriculum to all Kenzie Academy cohorts, anywhere from 15 - 100 students at a time.
  • Create Career Curriculum content that has both a learning objective and deliverable/assignment for each session
  • Knowledgeable in following areas; resume writing, cover letters, networking, interviewing skills, slack etiquette, Linkedin set up and navigation, the job search process, social media, and general writing and communication in a work setting
  • Through the career curriculum, assist students in understanding the different career tracks available in tech as well as to understand which track might be best suited for them.
  • Critique, evaluate and build upon the current Career Curriculum
  • Track and analyze student progress, reviewing assignments and resumes on a regular basis
  • Oversee a 1-3 career coaches contractors (current and former students) who assist in tracking assignments and other duties as necessary
  • With the help of the placement team, ensure that all Kenzie Academy students are prepared to launch their job search process upon graduation. This includes having received the proper career education as well as having Career Artifacts (Resume, Kenzie Profile and Linkedin Profile) ready to go!
About You:
  • MUST have a background in recruiting, with no less than 3 years recruiting experience in-house.  
  • Deep knowledge of what it takes for junior talent to get hired in a competitive marketplace and previous experience guiding junior talent in the job search process
  • Preferably, experience guiding junior tech talent in the job search process
  • Experience in teaching or training large groups, preferably over zoom and to an adult audience.  
  • Ability to create career curriculum content and run a class that is highly interactive in a digital environment
  • Ability to collect, track, and analyze data.
  • Promotes a strong sense of urgency for reaching goals and key deliverables. Acts without being told what to do. Brings new ideas to the company
  • Self-starter with personal drive and the ability to navigate ambiguity and operate effectively in a hyper-growth, startup environment
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent active listening skills.
  • Able to work cross functionally and interface with several departments

Kenzie vs. Coding Bootcamps
Kenzie Academy addresses the gap between four-year universities and short term coding bootcamps. As advancements in tech continue to accelerate, traditional universities are struggling to keep up with the latest programming technologies. While coding bootcamps attempt to tackle the skills gap through six to twelve week programs, they produce graduates who are not yet ready to fill the stringent demand of today's employers. Kenzie believes one-year programs are better at preparing graduates for the job market.
