Hall CPA PLLC (The Real Estate CPA) is looking for a Tax Manager. Geographic location is not an issue as our team is 100% virtual (we’re only looking for U.S. based hires). Our Firm provides real estate investors, syndicates, and funds with tax, accounting, and business consulting services.

As manager of a team of tax accountants at Hall CPA, you are responsible for the quality of the returns, the happiness of the client, and the economics (revenue & margin) produced by your team. We are looking for someone who has experience in managing clients and people who can elevate everyone on the team.

Areas of responsibility

  • Mentor and develop your staff
  • Consult with clients and, when needed, resolve their issues
  • Improve company processes and remove barriers to efficiency
  • Manage and report on team economics (revenue & margin)
  • Review tax returns (issues-based and final reviews)

Activity Summary

Maintain team throughput and quality:

  • Conduct regular audits to know the status of your team
  • Mentor and train your staff to help them better meet targets
  • Maintain updated reporting on project status and capacity forecasts
  • Know the flexing capacity of your team and communicate when additional support is required
  • Maintain a clear client communication plan for tax changes and run tests to verify adherence to new tax
  • Work with sales to successfully onboard new and renewing clients
  • Use early work audits or tests to verify adherence to new tax laws
  • Maintains compliance with regulations by forwarding required information to federal, state, and local authorities, according to company guidelines
  • Develop and revise procedures to streamline the tax preparation process including workpapers supporting the tax return

Maintain Client satisfaction:

  • Responsible for maintaining strong client relationships by managing their expectations, being responsive to their communications/emails, and meeting your promises with clients (delivering on what you say you will)
  • Have guidelines to identify situations for specific communication needs
  • Work with team members to have a communication plan for clients who need it
  • Provide guidelines for team members to identify areas where the client can save money on their tax returns
  • Send and review client satisfaction surveys. Identify and execute on areas of improvement.
  • Recommend other “products” to the benefit of the client. For example, bookkeeping services, tax planning etc.
  • Work with clients to resolve complaints or quality issues.

Identify opportunities to improve the company

  • Identify new “products” for the company. Any process with a defined result that benefits the client becomes a product when you give it a name.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the information handoffs and collaboration
  • Identify barriers and waste in our processes and work to remove them
  • Identify technology that will help get the job done better

Measures

  • Team economics (revenue and profit and mix between compliance and advisory work)
  • Happiness rating of clients
  • Implementation of firm improvements (number, type, impact)
  • Employee development, engagement, and satisfaction rating

Expectations for remote work

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university
  • CPA certification
  • Experience with real estate tax matters and multi-state tax returns
  • 5 to 10 years of relevant professional experience

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $95,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
