Job Description:
Position: Legal Counsel
Location: Remote
Salary: $130,000 - $160,000
Options: Included (4 year vesting)
As User Interviews' Legal Counsel, you will be the point person for all legal & compliance-related matters. You will be primarily responsible for negotiating commercial contracts, ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g. GDPR, CCPA), navigating employment-related legal issues, and managing other legal issues as they come up. The right candidate will be someone with excellent written and verbal communication skills, who is excited about the prospect of defining and building out the legal function at a fast-growing tech startup.
Responsibilities:
- Draft, negotiate and manage a wide variety of commercial contracts, including commercial sales, and vendor contracts
- Support User Interviews' data privacy and compliance efforts, review and negotiate data processing agreements (with support from outside counsel), and help develop internal compliance processes
- Work closely with internal clients from all business areas (Product, Sales, Marketing, Operations, Analytics, People Ops, and Finance) on ad-hoc projects and as needed to support their objectives and advise on legal risks and opportunities
- Identify sensitive legal and business concerns and implement solutions
- Manage employment contracts and address employment-related legal issues / questions
Requirements:
- JD from an accredited law school
- Bar admission
- 3+ years experience reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts
- Familiarity with privacy regulations is a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain legal concepts to non-lawyers
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excited by the prospect of joining a fully-remote, rapidly-growing startup
