As Financial Accountant, you will be a key player supporting the growth and development of Virtuagym by facilitating the internal processes of the company. The Finance team is an integral part of our business as we process and analyse all the data to show the results of the company. We are a small team, yet have quite a diverse set of characters. All of which work hard, but also take some time to laugh and be the wacky bunch that we are. We are a team of five full-timers and one part-timer. You will be reporting directly to the Finance manager and will also work closely with our Financial controller and other members of the team.

What this role looks like

The focus of the Finance department is to make sure that we correctly process all invoices that we receive or send out. As a team we also make sure that the month-end closing, reporting, controlling and payroll work gets done on time. 

As Financial Accountant, you will be a key player in supporting the administrative processes at Virtuagym and the activities of the Accounting department. Furthermore, you would also bring in new ideas on how we can optimise and automate our processes. With your problem-solving mindset, you constantly think of "out of the box" and innovative solutions.

Some of your key responsibilities:

  • Gather, analyse and prepare sales invoice data (excel);

  • Importing of our sales invoices into our accounting and deferring revenues;

  • Creating and reversing accruals/provisions for un-billed revenue;

  • Processing Direct Debit payments;

  • Importing payment provider settlement batches and matching to the correct accounts;

  • Assisting with month-end closing and handling the finance related questions from our Customer Support department via salesforce ticketing system;

  • Booking in-app purchase invoices and payment provider commissions;

  • Import and validate customer master data;

  • Giving support in answering ad hoc queries from various parts within the organisation;

  • Taking part in automating, optimising and reviewing the financial processes and results.

What you bring to the table

  • Between 1 - 3 years of working experience in finance, preferably in an international environment;

  • At least HBO (Bachelors) degree or higher, preferably in bookkeeping and/or Finance;

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (any other languages like Dutch, German, French and Spanish would be nice to have);

  • You have a Dutch citizenship or a Dutch work permit and are already living in the Netherlands;

  • Proven working experience with accounting software like Exact Online (our accounting software);

  • Being able to work with Microsoft Excel is a must;

  • You feel comfortable working with a lot of freedom and autonomy and ready to take responsibility;

  • You are flexible, dedicated, focused and a team player;

  • You have strong organisation- and time management skills;

  • You have excellent communication skills and a good sense of efficient communication;

  • You have logical and analytical thinking skills;

  • Stress management (especially during the month-end closing hustle and bustle).

The recruitment process consists of an initial introduction (video)call with the manager and then one video interview will be with the manager, Controller and/ or the CFO. This interview will also include a basic Microsoft Excel test. Total time needed for this second interview will be 2 hours maximum, one hour for the interview and one hour to work on the Excel assessment.
