Role overview:

TermScout's Legal Operations Team is the bridge between TermScout's Engineering and Product Teams, as well as TermScout's customers. This position, reporting directly to the VP of Operations, will work closely with each of these functions to ensure that TermScout's products are clear, helpful, and accurate.

TermScout is seeking a Director of Legal Operations to take a leadership role in the templates TermScout uses for contract reviews. The templates are standardized questions and answers that allow for the comparison of contracts against other contracts in the database. TermScout has standardized templates and is building new templates specific to various customer needs. All templates must be built to be scalable, so significant forethought is required in creating them.

This position is located in Denver, Colorado or with the option of full-time remote. Candidates must live in and be authorized to work in the United States.

In this role you will:

  • Create, manage and upkeep question and answer templates
  • Meet with customers to understand their contract review needs and translate that into standardized questions and answers for contract reviews
  • Collaborate with the Engineering and Product Teams on new functionality and requirements
  • Review and analyze contractual language based on defined criteria
  • Perform quality control on completed contract reviews
  • Create customer deliverables
  • Collaborate with teammates to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions
  • Monitor changes to contracts in the database
  • Additional projects, as assigned

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Education: J.D.
  • 5+ years of experience working in an in-house counsel, contracts or legal role
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to see the big picture and think outside the box
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong command of the English language
  • Experience with commercial contracts, software licensing contracts, GDPR and CCPA
  • Enthusiasm for being part of a growing legal tech startup company

  • Salary negotiable, based on experience and/or education ($120,000-$140,000 base salary)
