At Pento we're building a better, faster, and more modern way for companies to run and automate payroll. We're looking for an experienced product designer to help us build great user experiences and make the complex simple.

The short version

What: Work with the product team to understand our customers' problems and build world-class solutions.

How: Help drive the process from ideation and planning to development and launch. Be our team's go-to person on user experience and product design.

Who: Experienced, thoughtful, and humble team-player

Where: Remote (regular 4 hour overlap with CET workday) 🌍

What is Pento?

We build beautiful payroll software that automates a company's manual workflows and we usually help companies cut 50-80% off the time they spend on payroll. That means no spreadsheets, no manual bank transfers, no e-mails, and no manual work. We've built an easy-to-use software product, that does all of this automatically.

The job description

We’re looking for a creative product designer who values simplicity and the "job to be done" over winning design awards. We're building simple and efficient products to help companies, payroll admins, and employees better manage, understand, and run payroll. If that sounds like something you'd be good at, we'd love to talk!

Responsibilities

Here’s a snapshot of what you could be working on:

  • Work on product problems from initial definition through to shipping

  • Craft rational, elegant, and delightful solutions to complex problems

  • Build wireframes and early-stage prototypes to test your assumptions

  • Collaborating with our product manager, engineers, and CTO on implementing new, exciting features in our product

  • Contribute to building a collaborative, productive and friendly remote workplace

What we're looking for

Your background and skills

  • 3+ years of experience designing digital products and systems

  • Experience using prototyping as a way to communicate design solutions

  • Great written and verbal English communication skills

  • Solid experience with contemporary digital design tools, such as Figma, Sketch, or similar

  • You always default to searching for the **right** solution to a problem — not the prettiest

Bonus experience and skills

  • Experience designing for multiple platforms (iOS, Android, Mobile web, Desktop, etc.)

  • You have experience working in highly effective remote teams

Your personality

  • You have a problem-solver attitude. No problem is too big or too hard.

  • You like working independently, but you also know when to involve your teammates and ask for help.

  • You are hungry to learn. You know you don't know it all, and do what you can to help yourself and your teammates be better every day.

  • You work well with lots of questions and few answers. We're a startup trying to do something no one else has done before, which means we're dealing with a lot of questions and what-ifs.

  • You enjoy giving and receiving feedback on a daily basis.

What it's like working at Pento

We're a small, fast-growing, remote-first team with 4 different nationalities, working out of 5 different cities throughout Europe. Meet the team and read about how we work at Pento here: notion.so/e910ee40475748fe84b71f3af40c2499

    You will:

    • Contribute to the overall strategy and decision-making about Sourcegraph’s features.

    • Drive continual progress towards a cohesive, delightful experience for a technical audience through iterative improvements.

    • Have the autonomy to facilitate conversations, solve problems, and execute the designs.

    • Pull together insights to propose a variety of solutions, then collaborate with product and engineering to determine the best solutions to problems.

    • Use prototyping and usability testing to inform and validate designs.

    • Collaborate directly with customers to inform strategy and design decisions.

We will encourage and support you to:

    • Publish blog posts and give conference talks about your work at Sourcegraph.

    Your qualifications

    You have:

    • Expertise in designing complex web applications as demonstrated in a strong portfolio showcasing high-quality UX, interaction, and visual design.

    • Proficiency with Figma, Sketch, or similar tools to design end-to-end experiences (UX, interaction, and visual).

    • Experience with usability testing, customer journey mapping, developing personas, wireframing and prototyping, sketching, and other UX design methods.

    • The ability to adapt your tools and processes for the velocity of a fast-paced startup where projects have varying requirement levels.

    • The ability to proactively give maintenance to the design system when thinking about how new concepts impact the whole product.

    • A knack for giving and receiving feedback, and explaining the reasoning behind your designs.

    • A deep understanding of developers, and a good understanding of version control systems, preferably Git.

    Nice to haves

    You have:

    • Experience designing developer tools.

    • Experience working in cross-functional teams on multiple projects in tandem.

    • Experience building or contributing to the design of consumer or enterprise applications.

    • Experience working with distributed or remote teams.

    Location

We are flexible and don't require you to be in any particular timezone or location. Our team is distributed across the world and less than half work from our office in San Francisco.

    Compensation and benefits

We provide competitive pay and equity because we want you to act like a business owner and share in the success of Sourcegraph. We also provide many benefits to keep you happy, healthy, and productive.

    Interview process

    You apply here

    • We set up a 30 minute call to chat with you about Sourcegraph to find out what you are looking for in your next role.

    • We do a portfolio review for you to present your past work.

    • We schedule a few more hours of technical and non-technical interviews. We are happy to do all interviews onsite in our San Francisco office or remotely over video chat.

    • We check your references.

    • We make you a job offer.

    • We also expect you to be interviewing us too, so ask us any questions you have along the way.

  • Input Logic (Canada)

We're on the hunt for a Product Designer who can take ideas from wireframes to finished mobile and desktop app designs. As a Product Designer, you'll work alongside a UX Designer and a Product Manager, to turn user stories into lovely visual interfaces. Your main jam is interface design, but you love to make icons, branding concepts, and do some illustrations too.

Your tool du jour is Sketch, but maybe you're also playing with Figma, and you likely still lean on trusty ol' Illustrator for some vectors. You're used to sharing work in Invision, gathering feedback, and iterating over a design to really nail it. You have experience with design systems (or are curious about them), and you have a portfolio of work ready to share.

    About Input Logic

We launch beautifully crafted apps and interfaces for brands and startups. As a small team, we hand-pick our clients and prefer to work with startups, or brands who think like startups (move fast and make things). We love coffee, board games, and spending time outside on our Vancouver Island playground.

    Additional

    • Full time, on-site and/or remote, from our office in Nanaimo, BC.

To apply, email us a link to your portfolio and we will consider it lovingly.

We lead with purpose and intention, just like our customers. We're operating in four markets (DC, DFW, SoCal, and the Bay Area). In each, we work with amazing chefs using responsibly-sourced ingredients to create healthy meals that our customers rely on to undergird their health & wellness goals.

At Territory, we believe that our people and culture are our most significant assets. About the Role

    • Collaborate closely with product, business, data, and engineering partners in an agile environment. Deliver innovative design experiences to our customers at each stage of their journey.

    • Support our product development process with design thinking, sketching, prototyping, testing, learning, polished execution, and iteration.

    • Take an active and involved role in the definition of our product strategy for both new and existing functionality.

    • Make people-centered design decisions informed by data and user research.

    • Partner with engineers to ensure a high level of polish throughout the development cycle.

    • Create and own the visual design process, evolve our style guide, and build our design system to enable efficient, consistent, and scalable product development.

    • Turn challenging workflows into simple, usable, and elegant experiences.

    • Design elegant user interfaces that solve the problems of our customers while balancing the needs of the business.

    About You

    • 5+ years in a digitally-focused design role.

    • Experience with Sketch or Figma for UI design and Photoshop / Illustrator (or similar) for brand assets.

    • You work with Scrum/Agile/iterative design process, AB testing, and KPI measurement for UX.

    • You have a track record of building exceptional and engaging user experiences for both apps and the web, ideally for e-commerce brands.

    • You are passionate about design systems and well-versed in data-informed product design and development.

    • You're energized by hands-on work: sketching concepts, defining flows, building prototypes, or polishing final designs.

    • You're always looking to hone your design instinct through user feedback, user research, contextual interviews, and competitive/analogous research.

    • You have the communication skills and experience collaborating with cross-functional partners.

    • You're unafraid to change your opinion in the face of new information or understanding of the product goals - you have strong beliefs, but open-minded.
