The Position:
This seasonal, independent contractor position is for a Remote Designer role. As a Modsy Designer, you own the customer’s remote design experience, working with them 1:1 to create beautiful designs and guiding them through the process of bringing their vision to life. This is a fast-paced role where you will create magic for customers and collaborate with many different departments within Modsy such as Customer Success and Merchandise. Full-time availability preferred. Expected duration of the contract is August through December with potential for a post-Holiday long-term contract. Will work remotely from home.
Who We’re Looking For:
As a Modsy Remote Designer you will be responsible for designing beautiful customer spaces and helping them visualize the rooms of their dreams. You’re a solution-oriented, design-minded advocate who is the main point of contact with our customers.  You use critical thinking and project management skills to assess a customer’s needs at the beginning of each project and keep each project on time.  You ensure the customer’s vision comes to life as they review their designs in the Modsy design platform and build their confidence as they shop products. This contract, remote opportunity is perfect for talented new designers looking to flex their new skills or a great chance for seasoned designers to continue their practice from home.

  • Customer Advocate:
  • Manage the customer’s experience from the beginning (purchase of a design package) to their final phase of shopping products through Modsy. 
  • Respond to all customer inquiries regarding services, orders, designs, and online interactive tools through email and phone.
  • Manage customer expectations and address questions throughout the design process.
  • Manage project timelines and escalation issues using our internal support team and proactively communicate updates to the customer. 
  • Respond to disappointment - partner with the Design Services Manager team to find design solutions for customers whose projects fall off track.
  • Maintain an email service level agreement (SLA) towards customers of 24 hours or less and meet all other workflow SLAs to keep projects on time 
  • Design Consultant:
  • Use reflective listening to clearly identify the style preferences, layout & functional needs and budget at time of project kickoff to ensure an effective delivery of project goals.
  • Create beautiful designs utilizing Modsy’s proprietary design tools that meet Modsy brand & design standards within SLA & contract requirements. 
  • Proactively disseminate information about product and merchandise - you’re the expert who knows what to recommend to our customers. 
  • Maintain customer satisfaction in line with company expectations. 
  • Meet or exceed individual sales goals on a weekly and monthly basis. 
  • Ability to write professionally and in Modsy’s voice and tone at all times.
  • Competency connecting with customers via focused, friendly phone calls.

Required Qualifications*:
  • Must have a baseline knowledge of interior design & space planning principles
  • Background in Interior Design, Art History, Architecture
  • Experienced Sales or Customer Service professional
  • Prior interior design or styling experience preferred
  • Excellent project & time management skills
  • Excellent writing and grammar skills
  • Customer-centric orientation
  • Critical thinking abilities
  • Tech-savvy - experience with Auto-CAD, SketchUp, Rhino, and/or Revit preferred
  • Ability to work a consistent schedule of  20-40 hrs a week, with 40 hrs being the typical workload
  • Ability to work weekends and some holidays in accordance with business needs.
  • Ability to work with remote teams asynchronously, and in different timezones.
