This is an opportunity to join an exciting new business, focussed on building the future of multi-country payroll. Boundless is building a technology platform that’s removing barriers to remote working, by allowing customers to quickly & easily get set up to handle payroll and HR compliance for workers anywhere in the world, under an Employer of Record model.
This role will be our first payroll leasdership hire, and will be key to ensuring accuracy of our payroll processing and delivering quality to customers. You’ll have an opportunity to be involved in all aspects of our product, and will be working on a team where continuous improvement is part of our DNA.
While there’s no requirement for any experience in software/technology, the right person for this role will have an appetite to work in a fast-paced startup environment, and will be excited by the prospect of driving real change for the payroll industry.
This is a remote-friendly role for candidates based in an EU country.
Handling the day-to-day activities necessary to deliver payroll through our multi-country payroll team.
Ensuring consistent and accurate flow of information so that all payrolls are processed accurately, on time, and in accordance with local country requirements.
Working with our product team to improve processes, timelines & workflows.
Reviewing preliminary payroll calculations from our multi-country payroll team, and advising of changes; providing final approval for each payroll.
Responsibility for handling employee & customer queries on payrolls from EU countries in a timely manner.
Working with internal and external parties (employees, customers, tax entities, vendors, pension brokers) to resolve issues.
Overseeing compliance and timely reporting by our multi-country payroll team.
Working with our product team to ensure accurate, timely delivery of payroll funds into employee accounts, as well as depositing income and social taxes, benefit plan obligations and other deductions.
Liaising with in-house Finance to provide accurate cash funding requirements, and provide accurate monthly cash forecasting data.
Contributing to our customer knowledge base & FAQs.

What we are looking for:
3+ years in a multi-country payroll processing role.
Payroll/accountancy/tax qualification - preferably IPASS qualified or international equivalent.
A solid understanding of payroll, benefits, pensions, share schemes, social security and taxation related matters; experience with bonuses & commissions would be beneficial.
Knowledge and understanding of payroll stakeholders and their needs, with extensive experience working with external payroll vendors across a number of countries.
Experience setting up new country payrolls would be helpful, although not absolutely necessary.
A clear, fast thinker and problem solver, with the ability to translate business needs into pragmatic solutions, and implement them.
High level of Excel and numerical analysis skills.
Evidence of a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Experience in process analysis, assessment and improvement would be beneficial.
Ability to work to firm deadlines.
A commitment to - and focus on - customer service.
Experience in high-volume environment, on a geographically dispersed team.
An effective team player, with developed communication skills.
Comfortable operating in an environment with a relatively high degree of uncertainty - as a very early-stage startup, we’re evolving at a fast pace.
Ability to take ownership of an autonomous role.
A growth mindset, and an insatiable appetite for learning.
