    • This Product Designer or Senior Product Designer position for our Compliance group is 100% remote.

      A brief overview:

GitLab is building an open-source, single application for the entire software development lifecycle—from project planning and source code management to CI/CD, monitoring, and security.

We started 2019 with a team of 15 Product Designers and Researchers. Right now, we’re in a period of growth, we’ve more than doubled the size of the Product Design team, and we’ve increased the number of GitLab employees from 400 to over 1100 this financial year, too.

At GitLab, we live and breathe open source principles. This means our entire handbook is online, and with a few clicks, you can find the details of future releases, check out our past releases, and see an overview of the product vision you’d contribute to when working here.

As a Product Designer at GitLab, you will be embedded in our Compliance group. It’s a complex area where you’ll be tasked with improving the controls we provide to support our customers to help them manage their compliance posture within GitLab. You'll be designing new features and experiences to improve the quality of life for customers who operate within regulated environments.

What you can expect in a Product Designer, Compliance role at GitLab:
      • You’ll be tasked with bettering our product for users who rely on our compliance features. The work you’ll do will enable greater adoption of our product within the enterprise space and impact users across a range of industries, from healthcare to manufacturing.
      • You’ll collaborate with a Product Manager to define the priorities, roadmap, and overall strategy for the future of Compliance within our product.
      • You'll work alongside Product Managers and UX Researchers to understand the needs of our users to shape how compliance features underpin the work within regulated industries.
      • You’ll come together with our Technical Writers to better our compliance documentation and in-product content.
      • You’ll collaborate with cross-functional partners to uncover and understand the complexities and limitations of our current compliance tools, advocating for the end-user in all areas, including documentation, ease of use, and visualization of key messaging.
      • You’ll utilize wireframes, prototypes, user flows, mockups, high-fidelity visual designs, or any other artifacts you believe are necessary to convey your design thinking and ideas.
      • You’ll engage with our user base and the wider GitLab community to understand their pain points and work toward long-term fixes that enable them to succeed with their goals.
      • You’ll undertake usability testing to validate your thinking, collaborate with our UX Researchers on generative research, and you’ll share findings with the wider team in our research repo, ensuring recommendations are communicated effectively across our organization.
      • You’ll contribute compliance patterns to our Design System, alongside the rest of the UX department, and the GitLab community as a whole.
Projects you might work on in our Compliance group:

You’ll spend your time at GitLab collaborating with a cross-functional team. You may work on features that bring compliance checks into merge requests, a dashboard to give users insight into their overall compliance controls, or even build features that enable code to be audited, traceable, and reported on. To be successful, you’ll consider many edge cases while understanding the needs of a wide range of personas across a breadth of industries. Outside of work on our compliance tools, you’ll also contribute to our Pajamas design system and design culture here at GitLab.

      You should apply if:
      • You’ve got experience designing developer tooling, enterprise software, or complex web applications that are built for technical users.
      • You’ve got some experience designing compliance experiences, or knowledge of the compliance industry.
      • You’ve got experience working on product strategy and product design for a complex enterprise application or SaaS tool.
      • You enjoy getting involved in research and usability testing, and you continually look to improve your user research abilities.
      • You want to design for a complex product with technical users who have continually evolving needs.
      • You’ve got experience applying your product design skills across user research, UX strategy, wireframing, prototyping, product strategy, and visual design, within a complex domain.
      • The idea of playing a key part in the evolution of our Pajamas Design System is truly exciting to you.
      • You understand frontend code or the limitations of frontend technology. You can demonstrate this through your hands-on coding skills with HTML/CSS/JS, your knowledge of Git, or by showing us you have a deep understanding of the needs of engineers you’ve worked with previously.
      • Our values of collaboration, results, efficiency, diversity, iteration, and transparency resonate with you.
      • You'll thrive in an environment where self-learning and self-service is encouraged and instilled as a part of our culture.

The culture here at GitLab is something we’re incredibly proud of. Because GitLabbers are currently located in over 60 different countries, you’ll spend your time collaborating with kind, talented, and motivated colleagues from across the globe.

Some of the benefits you’ll be entitled to vary by the region or country you’re in. However, all GitLabbers are fully remote and receive a "no ask, must tell" paid-time-off policy, where we don’t count the number of days you take off annually. You can work incredibly flexible hours, enabled by our asynchronous approach to communication. We’ll also help you set up your home office environment, pay for your membership to a co-working space and contribute to the travel costs associated with meeting other GitLab team members across the world. Also, every year or so, we’ll invite you to our Contribute event.

      Hiring Process and compensation:

Our hiring process for this Product Designer position typically follows five stages. The details of this process, the expectations for Product Designers and Senior Product Designers, and the compensation for this role can be found in our job family page.

        Diversity and inclusion statement

“Our company is committed to creating a culture that is not only grounded in continuous learning, teamwork, and customer success, but is fair, equitable, and welcoming for everyone.” Gregg Johnson CEO

And to us, diversity and inclusion means even more than treating current employees well and making them feel welcome. It also means proactively hiring people who bring different insights because of their unique demographics, ways of thinking, and prior experiences.

We intend to continue hiring great people and protecting our culture so everyone can be themselves and speak their minds. That way Invoca will always be a place filled with laughter, energy, hard work, thoughtfulness and respect.

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.

      • Mission

Platform.sh is a groundbreaking hosting and development tool for web applications. We’re a European VC-Backed startup with a host of blue-chip Enterprise clients and a string of awards and grants (including €2m from the EU Horizon 2020 program). To reinforce our technical prowess, we are looking to grow our engineering team. If you’re looking for an exciting, high-growth opportunity with an award-winning, cutting-edge company, this could be just the job for you.

The company is fully distributed and remote first, with a strong accent on diversity and inclusion in all of its dimensions (gender, sexual orientation, age, race, country of origin - you have it, we want it).

For its groundbreaking PaaS solution https://platform.sh is looking for a Pythonian Cloud Engineer with a taste for Go, good Linux system understanding, and a real hunger for the challenges of building robust, distributed systems.

Platform.sh is a PaaS shrouded in a lot of black magic (we can consistently clone a whole running cluster, with its state, databases, indexes in a matter of seconds). We want to get this down to the hundreds of milliseconds domain. Interested? There is more...

Our external API is pure Hypermedia REST + oAuth on top of Pyramid. It mechanizes the Git layer and needs more features.

We can consistently generate from the same manifest a Docker container, an LXC one, or VM disk images (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, OpenStack), we want more targets.

We probably have the highest container density in the industry. We need to get it higher.

We support any Python, Ruby, NodeJS, PHP, Java and .NET time to roll-out Elixir, of course Elixir, and Rust.

We need to have more auto-healing on the high-availability clusters. We need more performance out of our multi-protocol ssh proxy. We need work on our Ceph Implementation; We need to get the Debian package generation streamlined and faster. We need… great ideas on how to make Platform.sh even better. Interested? Join us!

This is a remote position and occasional travel to cool places like Paris, France, may be required.

        Skills & requirements:

        Required:

        • Be a really really good dev that likes testing, understands how an OS works, knows networking, how git works, and the constraints of a distributed system.

        • Be proficient in Python

        • Some familiarity with Go (or the willingness to learn) - hard core expertise here, also appreciated.

Would be really great if you had:

        • Experience with C (we contribute to a bunch of upstream projects, like LXC) is a plus; Love not required.

        • Great knowledge of Git

        • Good Networking background (routing/protocols)

        • Good grasp of practical security and cryptography

        • Experience with other programming languages (Rust. Haskell anyone? Java, Javascript, Ruby, Common Lisp?, PHP? )

        • Good knowledge of how the Web works (Hacking Nginx with Lua a plus). You may want to brush up on HTTP before the interview.

        • Good understanding of how database systems and search engines work

        • A good notion on distributed systems (consensus protocols like Raft/Paxos, eventual consistency models, gossip protocols)

        • Mad Debian Skills. Sporting a Debian plaid cloth during the interview is not frowned upon.

To be clear so you are not surprised in the technical interview, this job is very much more for a systems engineer, rather than an application developer. So knowing about system calls is important, while knowing Django, not so much.

      • Taskade is building real-time collaboration for distributed teams, starting with tasks. We are a team of startup veterans obsessed about improving team collaboration, workflow, and productivity. At Taskade, you’ll have the chance to work with a small, closely knit team and make a big impact on our product, business, and engineering efforts.

        RESPONSIBILITIES

        • We are looking for skilled front-end engineers with a deep understanding of user interface and design. We’re a small team, and in order for us to thrive we need members who have the drive and ability to work on a wide array of products.

        • From working on our landing pages, templates showcase, to the user on-boaridng experience, you’ll get the chance to experience a wide variety of development scenarios.

We value “T-shaped” people. That is, people who are both generalists (highly skilled at a broad set of valuable things—the top of the T) and also experts (among the best in their field within a narrow discipline—the vertical leg of the T). An expert who is too narrow has difficulty collaborating. A generalist who doesn’t go deep enough in a single area ends up on the margins, not really contributing as an individual.

        REQUIREMENTS

        • Experience with JavaScript

        • Experience with React, React Native and Redux

        • Deep understanding of cloud architecture and application deployment.

        • Be deeply interested in the long-term view. Yes, we need to deliver value rapidly, but our problem domain will grow dramatically over time. Figure out where we need to be in a year and identify how we'll get there incrementally, while helping us manage and constrain technical debt and other forms of unnecessary complications which will in the long run serve us poorly.

        • To be a quick learner. We’re looking for software engineers who thrive on learning new technologies. As a startup, and we have a lot of problem domains that need to be worked on, and you should have the ability and drive to adapt accordingly.

        • Versatility. You understand how all the pieces fit together (front-end, database, network layer, etc.) and how they impact the performance of your application.

We are at the forefront of creating the latest FinTech category and we are rapidly expanding our product & design team. We’re looking for someone with a proven track record of success who can thrive in a fast-paced, self-starter environment.

        Company Overview

Tesorio is a high-growth, early-stage startup backed by some of the Bay Area’s most prominent Venture Capital firms (First Round, Floodgate, Y Combinator) and the world’s top finance execs (e.g. the ex-CFO of Oracle, the ex-CFO of Yahoo, and the founder of Adaptive Insights).

We built software that applies proprietary machine learning models to help manage a core problem that all Mid-Market businesses face: managing, predicting, and collecting cash. As we’ve taken this solution to market over the last 18 months, we’ve been able to bring on some great clients like Veeva Systems, Box, WP Engine, Rainforest QA, and many more.

Tesorio’s Cash Flow Performance platform is a sought after solution for the modern-day CFO’s toughest problems. Companies such as Anaplan have successfully tackled forecasting revenues and expenses, however, no other system has been built from the ground up to help companies understand the complexities around cash flow and take action to optimize the core lifeblood of their business.

Are you our next Senior Designer?
        • You have a track record of leading projects from definition to launch, ensuring they succeed for both the user and the business.
        • You love spending time with users to uncover opportunities, prioritize concepts, and validate design solutions.
        • You are  a low-ego collaborator who makes decisions for the benefit of the project and isn’t afraid to champion the best ideas, no matter who came up with them.
        • You have experience thriving in a fast-moving agile environment, designing while shipping and always iterating.
        • You are comfortable learning about and working in a complex domain.
        • You can think big and create divergent concepts, keeping the project goals in mind, and then focus down and spec out every edge case.

        Responsibilities
        • Own the research and design for our collections product.
        • We’re looking for a leader to guide the project from concept to launch, through the following phases: Conduct user research to understand the scope of the problem and the user needs.
        • Design workshops to identify multiple high level features.
        • Conduct user research to quantify the value of potential features in order to define project scope.
        • Produce multiple design concepts at a wireframe level.
        • Conduct user research to identify the winning concept.
        • Design flows and experiences that are incredibly simple and elegant.
        • Produce pixel-perfect mocks.
        • Assist in writing product specifications in association with product manager.
        • Manage product quality during buildout.
        • Gather post launch feedback and make adjustments to the product as necessary.

        Experience and Skills
        • 4+ years of experience working in UX or Product Design.
        • Excellent communication skills--you can articulate the rationale for design decisions and rationalize every decision.
        • Experience designing and running user research sessions.
        • Highly proficient with design tools, ideally Sketch.
        • Highly proficient with prototyping tools such as Invision, Framer, etc. Comfortable working with product managers and others on product specifications.

        What We’re Building

After creating custom payment systems in-house at previous companies and realizing the pain of keeping these ad-hoc solutions up to date, we started asking how other businesses were handling their business-to-business payment needs.

We spent 9 months conducting over 300 customer development interviews and came up with a framework to build the simplest way to send and receive B2B payments. Almost three years later, we have a product that we are proud of and a healthy list of happy customers, but we are really just getting started.

        The Team You’re Joining

75% of our team knows how to code. We are passionate about our product and always strive to release the best, most usable interfaces, while not compromising on security and scale. You’ll get strong voices with decades of experience working in design, frontend (React and Redux), backend (Python/ Django) and QA.

        • Own our product requirement documentation, keeping it comprehensive and up-to-date

        • Distill our product feature requirements into an actionable backlog of epics and tickets (JIRA)

We are the people behind WordPress.com, Jetpack, and WooCommerce, and more. Automattic is a place like no other: our fast-growing band of 1100+ works as a distributed team across more than 70 countries, to democratize publishing and make the web a better place so that anyone with a story can tell it, regardless of income, gender, politics, language, or where they live in the world.

We are seeking a talented wrangler of contracts, shares of stock, and the myriad details that we need to mind, in order to keep the Automattic legal machine humming along. This is a generalist role, ideal for someone with a keen eye for sensible, practical solutions and operational excellence. You’ll be an integral part of our team, managing projects across the full range of subject matter supported by the legal team.

As a legal operations wrangler, you will be part of a small legal team responsible for supporting all of Automattic’s growth. This a great role for a candidate looking to expand beyond what is on offer in a traditional legal ops or paralegal position at a more moribund company.

Some of your responsibilities will include: impeccably managing our cap table in Shareworks, helping to wrangle our flow of contracts, contributing to quarterly investor reporting and annual audits, maintaining our corporate compliance, and keeping our insurance coverages current. Everything at Automattic is done on a global scale and in an international context, and you will frequently be managing projects in non-US jurisdictions.

We’d love to hear from you if you:

        • Have experience working in a lean, fast-growing, fast-paced software, internet, or creative startup, large private company or at an investment fund.
        • Have exceptional interpersonal skills, including outstanding verbal and written skills in English.
        • Possess an agile and curious mind. You’re not afraid to ask questions or admit when you are wrong.
        • Have a healthy sense of humor, and an abiding spirit of idealism about your chosen profession.
        • Are extremely detail-oriented, and are adept at spotting inconsistencies and ferreting out anomalies.
        • Have a passion for elegant, simple, automated solutions that keep operations running smoothly, and an ability to see opportunities for process improvement and the initiative to move forward with action.
        • Thrive in a tech-centered, developer-focused environment, and enjoy collaborating with engineers and understanding technical and product details.
        • Love a dynamic, fast-growing environment.
        • Prefer operating very independently, and are highly motivated to learn new things and improve your skills, and enjoy juggling an array of tasks.
        • Are collaborative, and enjoy working with teams such as Engineering, Marketing, and Finance.
        • Excel at understanding complex topics and explaining them to others in clear, concise terms.

Bonus points if you have experience working on a distributed team, WordPress, stock administration, software development, coding, or open source. We are not looking for an attorney for this position.

        ← Work With Us

        All Jobs Require
        • Great communication skills. We’re a distributed team, so frequent and clear written communication is a must.
        • Self-driven work ethic. You need to be a self-starter who loves taking initiative and seeing things through to completion.
        • Curiosity and the desire to learn. Our business is changing and growing fast, who knows what will be the skills of tomorrow? Flexibility is key.
        • Ability to Travel. We value those rare occasions when we meet our colleagues in person, and require 2–3 non-consecutive weeks of travel per year, usually by plane.
      • Who we are

Choco is one of the fastest-growing European startups. The company was founded in March 2018 by entrepreneurs who helped start companies such as Zalando (IPO), Lazada (sold to Alibaba) and Foodora (IPO).

We are a B2B platform connecting food suppliers and buyers on a global scale. While our technology is reshaping one of the oldest and most valuable industries on the planet - the food supply chain, we are obsessed with our mission to eradicate global food waste.

To do this, we have raised one of the largest Series A funding rounds in European history. We are looking for outstandingly driven individuals, who are able to assume extreme ownership and responsibility in shaping our global expansion.

        What you will do

We are looking for a Chief of Staff that will work directly with our CEO on all strategic and tactical matters driving the company forward. This role requires an exceptional leader - one who knows how to lead from principle and respect-based influence rather than authority - and who brings a great deal of wisdom, judgment and the ability to grasp complex organizational concepts.

Ultimately, the role exists to achieve leverage for the CEO by creating and leading thoughtful, lightweight, highly-efficient discussions and processes across a broad spectrum of situations (e.g. planning, technical development, employees, and stakeholder management), driving needed actions through the team and communicating efficiently to align people and teams.

In this highly visible role, it is equally important that this person is a strong individual contributor as much as a team player. The Chief of Staff must be able to work collaboratively with cross functional departments to guide project execution, remove obstacles, push to completion, and ensure initiatives meet committed timelines. This is a strategic role that requires a combination of character, judgment and people skills.

Beyond deep understanding of how the company works, most importantly the Chief of Staff must possess a deep understanding of how Choco operates as a member and extension of the leadership team.

        This includes:

        • Carry the Choco culture as an extension of the CEO.

        • Drive operational and planning processes to completion in partnership with the whole leadership team.

        • Own ad-hoc projects small to large: this could include implementation of new tactical initiatives, research and providing intelligence, expansion explorations, strategic partnerships, and more.

        • Review and potentially prepare internal and external communications: reports, speeches or presentations.

        • Monitor information flow, act as a gatekeeper, ensure the CEO’s involvement in a project or decision-making process at the right moment.

        • Manage team meetings, including planning, agenda, notes and execution of action items. Distill discussions and thoughts into strategic plans. Facilitate preparation for internal and external meetings.

        • Develop and execute impactful long term strategy for the company

        • Be involved in all top-level decisions, act as a sounding board to the CEO and Exec leadership for new ideas and initiatives, and prioritize and lead projects.

        What You'll Need

        • Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work seamlessly with a variety of personalities and functional disciplines. Ability to build relationships with cross-functional colleagues.

        • Exceptional and demonstrated business and product judgment. In spite of this role being administrative in nature, the CoS needs to have strong independent product and business judgment, i.e. be "right a lot" when it comes to making calls in these domains.

        • Strong operator. We need a leader who is great at creating structure, organization and (lightweight) process and getting everyone aligned within them. Strong prioritization skills and discipline are critical.

        • Has a 6th sense for identifying important strategic priorities to direct CEO focus on

        • Exhibits optimistic leadership and resilience. The CoS must look around at the sea of execution challenges and see them as a great puzzle to be solved. We should never hear this person complain or commiserate or talk about how everything is "broken;" rather, he/she must seek out problems and solve them, continually striving to make Choco better, stronger, faster. He/she must also be naturally enthusiastic to the point that they infect others, which ups everyone's game. Must have a bias for action and accountability.

        • Customer Obsessed. This person must be motivated by doing the right thing for our customers, externally and internally. She/he must establish and operate from first principles rather than being an order taker. He/she will not only "take the hills," with respect to the inner workings of Choco, but also identify the hills to take, i.e. be proactive in identifying opportunities to improve the way we work, prioritize appropriately and jump in without prodding.

        • An extremely organized critical thinker - your project plans are always detailed, up to date, and digestible, and you're comfortable setting and holding people accountable to deadlines.

        • Clear Communicator. You are a clear and concise communicator with the ability to synthesize a lot of information quickly and highlight the key insights.

        • High comfort in working under pressured, time-sensitive, and rapidly evolving situations.

        • A passion to radically transition food systems to operate sustainably. Obsessed about building a global champion.

        • Academically, given that we wish to graduate Chiefs of Staff into managerial roles, we apply the same criteria: candidates should have an undergraduate degree in business, or similar from a top institution. Advanced degrees, like an MBA, are not required, but can make a candidate more interesting. 3-5 years experience at a top-tier organisation in a highly challenging role are ideal.

        What we offer you

This is a unique opportunity to shape one of the fastest growing companies on the globe together with the CEO and the executive team.

The role is highly demanding and will reward you with an unprecedented learning curve. You will learn how to build, scale an early-stage company to market leadership. You will understand how to enable globally distributed teams of high-performing individuals to achieve success. You will understand how to create, drive and foster an extremely strong and positive culture of trust, friendship, focus and enjoyment across the globe.

This role is the best preparation to become part of the top-level leadership team, and we will invest in you to get there. In short, we are looking for an exceptional individual with a fanatic drive to win while never compromising on morals and culture.

If you are up for this challenging, then please apply.

The role will be based between the US and Berlin/Germany with occasional travel.
