Life & Diversity

    What's Doist stance on diversity?

One of the greatest strengths of our team is how diverse we are. Our success truly comes from having the opportunity to build an organization and products that are influenced by people who come from all over the world, with different upbringings, genders, and identities.

What about Doist employees who have families and kids?

In an effort to also support our team members who are new parents, we also welcome them to bring their partner and baby to our company retreat.

How does Doist handle maternity/paternity leave?

Becoming a parent is an exciting time and we want to be sure that our team members who are new parents are able to take time away to take care of family. We offer 18 weeks of maternity leave and 5 weeks of paternity/adoption leave.

Remote work isn't exceptional as companies that are spread around multiple offices have done it for the last many years. The special sauce is communicating asynchronously as the default 💡

Applying process

    How about Doist interview process?

Allan, our COO, met with Remotive and shared a bit more on how to land a job at Doist here.

Here’s another great read before applying...

What does a first week/month at Doist look like, remotely?

Starting a new job can be a lot to take in, especially remotely. At Doist, the first week is very exploratory. You’ll be set up with an onboarding project (built in Todoist of course!) and a mentor within the company who will help facilitate your onboarding over the course of 12 weeks. You’ll also have an opportunity to spend 2 weeks in your mentor’s city to get some in-person mentoring time!

Can we hear from one or more remote Doist employees?

Yes, here's a talk from Amir, Doist’s CEO!

Can folks apply to multiple positions?

Yes! If you feel your skill set fits multiple roles, you’re always welcome to apply to each role.

Values

Inclusivity, open-mindedness, and diversity.

Our team members come from 30 different nationalities ranging from Jamaica to Poland, Taiwan to Australia. We’re men and women, gay and straight, religious and atheistic. Our remote company tries to be borderless in every way – we believe that this way of working is the future.

Taking care of ourselves and each other.

Our team operates on an audaciously ambitious level. But we recognize that ambition without balance isn’t sustainable. If we achieve our goals, but we’ve burned ourselves out in the process, then we’ve failed. That’s why we endeavor to create a workplace that both challenges and supports us – one that lets us live extraordinary lives.

Empowering people to live fulfilling lives.

We strive to build tools that align with our values of ambition and balance. Our mission is to create the future we want to work in. One where people can work without distractions on things they’re passionate about, and then unplug at the end of the day with the peace-of-mind that their tasks and teamwork are accounted for.

Making long-term decisions, even if they’re harder.

At Doist we’re running a marathon, not a sprint. This means that we often choose the hard solution that will get us where we want to go in 10 or 50 years, rather than the easy, short-term option that will maximize profits this quarter. We embrace this challenge and push ourselves to take risks when thinking in the long-term.
