      • This UX Researcher or Senior UX Researcher position for our Manage stage group is 100% remote.

        A brief overview:

GitLab is building an open-source, single application for the entire software development lifecycle—from project planning and source code management to CI/CD, monitoring, and security.

We started 2019 with a team of 15 Product Designers and Researchers. Right now, we’re in a period of growth, we’ve more than tripled the size of the UX Research team, and we’ve increased the number of GitLab employees from 400 to over 1100 this financial year, too.

At GitLab, we live and breathe open source principles. This means our entire handbook is online, and with a few clicks, you can find the details of future releases, check out our past releases, and see an overview of the product direction you’d contribute to when working here.

As a UX Researcher at GitLab, you will be embedded into our Manage section, overseeing user research for a range of users and use cases. You’ll work on high-traffic, ever-maturing product categories, such as our value stream analytics features, access management capabilities, and compliance solutions. The work you’ll be overseeing will be impactful and highly visible to millions of our users across the globe.

What you can expect in a UX Researcher role at GitLab:
        • You'll need to proactively identify generative user research projects within our Manage stage.
        • You’ll collaborate with other UX Researchers to identify research studies that will require you to work across our different stage groups.
        • You'll partner with Product Managers and Product Designers to execute research projects within their respective groups.
        • You’ll guide, and where necessary train, Product Designers and Product Managers in how to undertake evaluative research projects and in how to create strategic deliverables such as journey maps, storyboards, competitive analyses, and personas.
        • You’ll need to have a high-level understanding of the features, technical constraints, and competitor landscape found in our Plan, Manage, and Create stage groups. Working knowledge of the end-to-end GitLab product will also be required too.
        • You’ll be comfortable evangelizing research. We aim to share user insights with both the broader organization and externally.
        • You’ll do this to increase empathy while helping the team to continue to grow the maturity of our UX practice.
        • As a Senior, you’ll lead strategic user research initiatives that span multiple-stage groups or across our entire product.
        • You’ll mentor UX Researchers, both inside and outside of your product area.
        • You’ll actively contribute to our UX Research processes, our documentation, and our research repository. You’ll need to be comfortable working in the open, collaborating with our community, and approaching research in a transparent manner.
        • You’ll engage in social media efforts, including writing blog articles and responding on Twitter, as appropriate.
        • As we’re growing, you’ll interview potential UX Research candidates.
        • You’ll help our Research Coordinator to build on our First Look participant recruitment platform.
        Projects you might work on:

You will be leading generative research projects within our Manage teams. You'll be leading research studies on analytics features, two-factor authentication flows, and permissioning. You’ll also support Product Designers and Product Managers who are doing evaluative research and usability testing in these areas. The users you’ll be working with are in a range of job roles, from Product Designers and Project Managers to System Admins and Software Engineers. At GitLab, we work using Agile methodologies and ship features monthly.

You know you are doing a good job as a UX Researcher when:
        • You collaborate effectively with our Product Designers and Product Managers.
        • You can quickly build rapport with GitLab's users.
        • You contribute ideas for feature improvements based on your research findings.
        • Your research work enables our Product Designers and Product Managers to work effectively in front of our sprint cycle, as outlined in our Product Development Workflow.
        You should apply if:
        • You have significant professional experience working as a User or UX Researcher in a technical domain.

        • You've mentored other UX Researchers.
        • Our values of collaboration, results, efficiency, diversity, iteration, and transparency resonate with you.
        • You'll thrive in an environment where self-learning and self-service is encouraged and instilled as a part of our culture.
It would be an added bonus if:
        • You've worked for a fast-paced startup or high-growth scale-up.
        • You have led user research efforts within analytics tooling, access mangament features, or on products within heavily-regulated industries.
        • You have a degree in psychology, human factors, human-computer interaction or related field.
        • You’re experienced with open-source tools or working in an open-source organization.

The culture here at GitLab is something we’re incredibly proud of. Because GitLabbers are currently located in over 51 different countries, you’ll spend your time collaborating with kind, talented, and motivated colleagues from across the globe.

Some of the benefits you’ll be entitled to vary by the region or country you’re in. However, all GitLabbers are fully remote and receive a "no ask, must tell" paid-time-off policy, where we don’t count the number of days you take off annually. You can work incredibly flexible hours, enabled by our asynchronous approach to communication. We’ll also help you set up your home office environment, pay for your membership to a co-working space and contribute to the travel costs associated with meeting other GitLab employees across the world. Also, every year or so, we’ll invite you to our Contribute event.

This position is located in Baltimore MD, Los Altos CA, Belfast Ireland, or remote. We will need significant overlap with the US Eastern time zone.

        The opportunity
At Contrast, we make application security smart and simple for software teams. But simple is not easy, and the struggle is real. We are looking for a senior UX designer to help us learn more about our users and cover emerging areas in our products that need to drive greater consistency across the user experience. Systems thinkers will love this chance to straighten crooked paths, define our platform, and establish the norm for integrations workflow.

        What we need
We’re looking for an experienced UX designer who can cover a spectrum of needs and deliverables, including user research, concepts, prototypes, wireframes, and usability testing. We look for passion, attention to detail, a willingness to take initiative, an enthusiastic team-spirit, and a collaborative attitude. A little humor helps, too. We’re especially interested if you love rich data and telling compelling stories with it.

        What you’ll do
        • Participate and lead design research efforts to understand problems or surface opportunities for intended audiences. Translate insights into action.
        • Model the user experience from rough to refined, using sketches, flows, concepts, prototypes, and annotated wireframes. Participate in story-mapping and defining or grooming user stories
        • Seek internal and external design reviews to refine your thinking.
        • Create, run, and analyze usability tests on the existing product or high-fidelity designs and prototypes
        • Always collaborate. You know how to work well with UX, Agile development teams, customer support, and product managers.

        What you’ll bring
        • 5+ years of UX design experience that includes enterprise products and a lead role. Brand or consumer product design alone is not sufficient.
        • Solid experience in methods for user research, design thinking, and UX design
        • Strong storytelling skills. You can clearly present your point-of-view to your teams and other stakeholders.
        • Expertise with design tools to visualize your work, including InVision, Sketch, and Abstract.
        • Sketching or drawing ability to quickly communicate ideas
        • Attention to detail and well-developed problem-solving skills
        • A portfolio of work that demonstrates design thinking in action. Please include access to this in your application.

        Preferred
        • BS/BA in art, design, human computer interaction (HCI), information science, or related field
        • Quantitative research experience, including user analytics in Pendo or similar products and survey methods.
        • Experience designing enterprise software products with a wide range of integrations
        • Familiar with design systems or pattern libraries in your workflow
By submitting your application, you are providing Personally Identifiable Information about yourself (cover letter, resume, references, or other employment-related information) and hereby give your consent for Contrast Security, and/ or our HR-related Service Providers, to use this information for the purpose of processing, evaluating and responding to your application for current and future career opportunities. Company Overview

Tesorio is a high-growth, early-stage startup backed by some of the Bay Area’s most prominent Venture Capital firms (First Round, Floodgate, Y Combinator) and the world’s top finance execs (e.g. the ex-CFO of Oracle, the ex-CFO of Yahoo, and the founder of Adaptive Insights).

We built software that applies proprietary machine learning models to help manage a core problem that all Mid-Market businesses face: managing, predicting, and collecting cash. As we’ve taken this solution to market over the last 18 months, we’ve been able to bring on some great clients like Veeva Systems, Box, WP Engine, Rainforest QA, and many more.

Tesorio’s Cash Flow Performance platform is a sought after solution for the modern-day CFO’s toughest problems. Companies such as Anaplan have successfully tackled forecasting revenues and expenses, however, no other system has been built from the ground up to help companies understand the complexities around cash flow and take action to optimize the core lifeblood of their business.

Are you our next Senior Designer?
        • You have a track record of leading projects from definition to launch, ensuring they succeed for both the user and the business.
        • You love spending time with users to uncover opportunities, prioritize concepts, and validate design solutions.
        • You are  a low-ego collaborator who makes decisions for the benefit of the project and isn’t afraid to champion the best ideas, no matter who came up with them.
        • You have experience thriving in a fast-moving agile environment, designing while shipping and always iterating.
        • You are comfortable learning about and working in a complex domain.
        • You can think big and create divergent concepts, keeping the project goals in mind, and then focus down and spec out every edge case.

        Responsibilities
        • Own the research and design for our collections product.
        • We’re looking for a leader to guide the project from concept to launch, through the following phases: Conduct user research to understand the scope of the problem and the user needs.
        • Design workshops to identify multiple high level features.
        • Conduct user research to quantify the value of potential features in order to define project scope.
        • Produce multiple design concepts at a wireframe level.

        • Assist in writing product specifications in association with product manager.
        • Manage product quality during buildout.
        • Gather post launch feedback and make adjustments to the product as necessary.

        Experience and Skills
        • 4+ years of experience working in UX or Product Design.
        • Excellent communication skills--you can articulate the rationale for design decisions and rationalize every decision.
        • Experience designing and running user research sessions.

In exchange, we ask that you are geographically located somewhere in the Northeast - Mid Atlantic US, within driving distance of a major airport so you can travel to client sites or team meet-ups when needed.

What does this mean for you?  You get to work from where you need or want to work. Each team member is provided the tools, infrastructure, and support to create a productive, professional work from home office environment. We observe and operate standard East Coast working hours to support the majority of our clients and our teammates. We also provide some flexibility for daily schedules to accommodate one’s personal obligations to home and family life.

We recognize that working remotely isn’t always easy; the remote work model encourages independent thinking but requires increased professional accountability and self-discipline.  We are an outcome-focused team and work to get the job done. We champion a culture of transparency and openness.

While travel is part of the job requirement to service clients and team build, we ensure it is asked for and planned as thoughtfully as possible.  As a leader within the company, you can expect to travel 2-3x a month for 1-3 days on average to for client and team meetings.

        About the Role

        This role is fully remote.

In this role you will work primarily with the Front End developers and own, drive, and improve the non-technical aspects of the Front End release cycle. You will also work with the Engineering and Product teams to help build, maintain, and track timelines, and coordinate around objectives. You should be familiar with agile and waterfall planning and comfortable with a combination approach. Overall, we are looking for someone with a methodical, analytical, and flexible approach to release and project management who will coordinate and collaborate within and without the Front End team to alleviate the non-technical burden of shipping well and often.

        What you'll do:
        • Own non-technical aspects of ongoing release process including coordination, documentation, and process improvement
        • Work with the Product Team to break up larger epics and stories into smaller consumable units of development
        • Work with the Product Team, Frontend team, other Engineering Teams, and major stakeholders to coordinate work and follow up on deliverables
        • Identify task blockers in advance
        • Manage project workflows, groom tickets and boards, and look for duplicates, invalid, or undefined tickets to help ensure everything in the queue is ready to be worked on
        • Develop road maps through accurate estimates based on Jira metrics you will collect and analyze
        • Maintain, coordinate, and communicate project timelines
        • Create executive dashboards and reports that would show the status of major projects, resource utilization, gaps and roadmap

        Who you are:
        • Minimum of 10+ years experience working as a project manager or similar role
        • Jira expert with two or more years experience with Kanban project management or light Scrum, and the openness to experiment with process
        • Spreadsheet expert (Google Sheets, Excel) comfortable with pivot tables and statistical analysis
        • Excellent communication skills and eagerness to ask questions and understand business and product objectives
        • The energy and patience to work in a rapidly growing industry, and the ability to recognize and pursue objectives independently
        • Superb organizational skills and an analytical view on maximizing productivity, with a focus on value and not getting caught up on process
        • Resilient determination to push projects through to completion, regardless of how often priorities and deadlines may shift with little notice

        Must haves:
        • Experience with Tableau, Looker, Metabase, or other BI tools
        • Experience managing projects in Jira, Trello, and Wrike
        • Must be comfortable working with simple command-line tools to export data from internal systems
        • Strong understanding of basic statistics
        • You have worked with software teams in the role of project manager – you know how to talk tech-lingo to engineers of various disciplines and understand what their jobs entail: the tasks, challenges, and costs of each position on a team are something you can appreciate

        Nice to haves:
        • Experience with scripting in Python, R, NodeJS or other statistical modeling languages
        • Understanding of advanced statistical hypothesis testing
