As a Senior Product Designer, you will own the strategy and production of creative assets for FutureFuel.io to support the Product and Sales teams. As part of a Series A start-up, you will be challenged to wear multiple hats in a fast-paced, dynamic role that includes critical responsibilities in UI design, sales/marketing assets, and brand. We are looking for someone to lead our visual and brand strategy, elevate the product, and help us build inspiring and engaging first impressions and experiences with our customers, users, and key stakeholders.

As a creative leader, you are thrilled to chase the answers to the most challenging questions in design and you are constantly seeking ways that would make a human experience feel more intuitive, inclusive, accessible, fun, and delightful. You see the job title as just a starting point and you naturally feel empowered to solve problems without being asked, but you also value being a team member that seeks collaboration over siloed decision-making. You are not afraid to lead and are excited by the opportunity to contribute new ideas and spearhead new strategies to help us build and grow our global team and company. You will report to the VP of Product and work with a growing team of full-time and contracted resources across design, UX, engineering, operations, and sales.

    Does this sound like you?

    • You have fierce attention to detail. You embrace ambiguity, thrive in the agile environment of a start-up, and are excited about building systems and processes from the ground up.

    • You can dive deep into the micro of how products, websites, processes, and assets get designed and built, while also maintaining the ability to zoom out into the macro and provide the vision for how our visual design and brand identity should iterate into an influential powerhouse for innovation, social impact, and market-leading UX.

    • You are seeking to help build digital experiences that won't settle for any standard less than inspiring love and admiration by people, for people. You are naturally curious, eager to explore uncharted territory, and diligent in balancing competing opportunities and constraints.

    • You seek growth through constant feedback loops and constructive critique. You naturally challenge yourself and others to achieve increasingly complex challenges and key results over time.

As a member of the FutureFuel family, we are looking for someone who is proud to be a part of a mission-driven organization that exists to CRUSH student debt.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Translate product requirements, user & customer needs, technical requirements into designs that are visually enticing, easy to use, and emotionally engaging.

    • Collect feedback and best-case examples from the team and collaborate cross-functionally to guide the team in the direction, style, brand and methodology.

    • Generate clear ideas, concepts, creative insights and provide project oversight on visual assets from beginning to end.

    • Interpret storyboards, mockups, and flow charts to help translate into a visual design strategy that iterates from low-fi to high-fi.

    • Review, refine, and approve design assets through a system of design quality assurance and validation.

    • Spearhead how design will work at FutureFuel with a strong but flexible POV that helps the team determine how to get the job done with confidence and clarity.

    • Work collaboratively with other designers and cross-functionally to ensure a consistent, integrated brand perception and user-experience.

    • Be a design evangelist; you naturally stay tuned into the latest design standards, guidelines, and discussions in the visual design field and seek to bring ideas from the outside in to fortify our team.

    • Work closely with the product and engineering teams to ensure that design specifications are implemented and reflect design intent.

    • Create and maintain a library of visual assets (sales decks, one-pagers, digital media, etc.) for our Sales team.

    • Translate customer requirements and sales needs into designs that capture our brand identity and articulate the opportunity we are offering.

    • Contribute to FutureFuel.io’s knowledge base.

    • Qualifications:

    • A minimum of four years of professional experience in designing brand identities, grid systems, editorial layouts and applications for web, desktop and mobile.

    • The ability to refine other people’s ideas and come up with new ones to create a highly designed visual experience.

    • Well organized, responsible and dedicated, with the ability to work on multiple projects and deliver refined design in a short time.

    • Self-learning, able to learn new tools quickly and work in a fast evolving environment.

    • Experience integrating user research into product design and design practices.

    • Proven ability delivering high quality designs to customers.

    • Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign and Sketch.

    • Expert level skills in Photoshop, Invision, UXPin and other relevant design tools.

  • We are a diverse team from around the world, on a mission to make DuckDuckGo the company people trust most with their online privacy, and we want your help!

Join our team as a Brand Design Lead, who is up for the challenge to lead and transform the DuckDuckGo brand experience across all of our products.

As part of our growing Design Team, you will be collaborating with team members at all levels to shape how we communicate our brand throughout the entire experience — from marketing to our search engine and privacy tools. You will lead the entire design process of your projects, from ideation to execution. You will have a voice in all product decisions, both big and small, and an opportunity to leverage our approach to design (which you can read more about at: https://spreadprivacy.com/ethical-by-design/).

We are fully remote and seek to empower our team to be self-directed and self-motivated in their projects. If that seems awesome and you like the idea of our core values -- build trust, question assumptions, and validate direction -- you'll fit right in!

    What you will do:

    • Champion the evolution of our brand language, that speaks to our mission and creates a strong and recognizable brand.

    • Lead and advise projects showcasing our brand and retaining a consistent brand message across multiple platforms: product, print, partner communication, events, advertising, and soft goods.

    • Define how our brand is applied throughout both Marketing and Product in our design system.

    • Mentor and provide creative direction to others, raising understanding of design's role across the organization.

    • Carry ideas forward with discretion and little direction.

    • Collaborate cross-functionally to create impactful work that is informed by data and user feedback.

    • Engage in critique, humbly defending your work, and being transparent with your process.

    What we are looking for:

    • Demonstrable strengths and hands-on experience in brand design, typography, color, and composition, having led the branding efforts for at least one large software or digital product.

    • Proficiency with current industry design tools needed to carry out brand work.

    • Prior experience in leadership level design positions and willingness to mentor other designers.

    • Ability to provide creative direction and lead difficult brand conversations with discretion and little direction.

    • Understanding of design systems and their impact across product and marketing.

    • Ability to collaborate in defining and evolving brand messaging, actively representing the brand voice and vision.

    • Ability to write creative briefs that define and communicate project goals with stakeholders.

    • Effective project management ability, paired with exceptional communication skills.

    • Experience working with qualitative user research.

    Other things to know:

    • While we leverage specific job titles for hiring purposes, we do not use them internally. Instead, we follow our own professional levels, with expectations for each level clearly defined across several dimensions.

    • We are a small, remote team distributed across time zones, and we rely on a variety of communication tools throughout the day.

    • Sometimes we meet up! Expect to travel at least two times a year: once for our all-hands meetup and again for a team retreat (each ~4-5 days).

    • We believe in a focused approach to collaboration, where individual team members work on a single top priority at a time, each supporting larger, company-wide objectives. This philosophy serves to impact our vision to raise the standard of trust online.

    • Our work philosophy centers on empowered project management. All team members have opportunities to run projects.

    • Transparency supports individual and team success at DuckDuckGo. We encourage everyone to participate in areas of interest throughout the company. Anyone and everyone can (and should) ask questions and offer feedback about our products and internal projects.

    • We aim to exemplify our values (build trust, question assumptions, and validate direction) in everything we do.

    • While this is a full-time job, we offer a flexible work arrangement with no core hours, expecting an average commitment of 40 hours per week.

    • We support professional development of our team members through career advisory and a learning stipend, reinforcing our culture of growth and skill-building.

DuckDuckGo does not work with any recruiting agencies or services. Instead, we work with each candidate one-on-one throughout a unique hiring process that we've built to reflect our company culture.

DuckDuckGo provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment, and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.

If you think you might thrive in this environment, we would love to hear from you. Use the application to apply!

Tara AI helps enterprise companies predict their spec, timeline and personnel needs for future software products, by analyzing their past projects. Today, the process of scoping is a completely manual process; enterprise companies are losing an average of $66Bn through inefficiencies in IT and software project scoping leading to cost and timeline overruns. However, F500 companies are sitting on a treasure trove of data in their project management systems, git version control and workforce directories. We connect to this data via an API, and using ML models, predict how to build their software (technical tasks), how long projects should take (timeline) and who will execute (team) when starting a new project.  Customers include product teams at F500s like IBM, Cisco & Orange Telecom.

Tara leverages artificial intelligence to create project plans (scopes) in real time. Our algorithms pair customers with the right internal engineers and external freelancers within hours, and deliver an experience that offers full transparency into project progress and milestones, down to the most granular of tasks.

Tara AI is looking for a creative, visually articulate UI designer who can lead our design initiatives and deliver beautiful, intuitive web experiences for our application. As an integral part of our design team, you will work cross-functionally with the product and engineering teams to drive our design vision into solid, compelling deliverables. We’re looking for someone with a strong passion for user interface design, great attention to aesthetics, and a strong portfolio in enterprise product design. If you’ve got a knack for making real-world difference, Tara AI wants to hear from you.

    Responsibilities:

    • Evaluating existing applications and evaluating their UI effectiveness in collaboration with product managers and engineers

    • Collaborating with our UX designers in user testing of applications, software and websites

    • Creating and implementing interaction models, user flows, and user interface specifications

    • Illustrating design ideas using storyboards, process flows and sitemaps

    • Developing and maintaining design wireframes and specifications of best practices to share with design team as new projects begin

    • Identify opportunities for improvements and make recommendations to create high-fidelity and compelling illustrations and frameworks

    Requirements:

    • 3+ years in user interface design, preferably at a SaaS company

    • Ability to tackle all design challenges and align customer demands with business goals to generate UI solutions

    • Proven success in translating business needs into visually-engaging, customer-focused solutions

    • Solid experience in creating wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows and site maps

    • Proficiency in Sketch or Zeplin, Adobe Creative Suite, OmniGraffle, or other visual design and wire-framing tools

    • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for rapid prototyping

    • Excellent visual design skills with sensitivity to user-system interaction
