  • Ghost (European timezones)

We're looking for a strong visual designer with a broad range of experience and skills to complement our existing Product and Marketing teams to help give our users and customers a great impression of the Ghost brand.

Hey there! We're looking for a new member to join the Ghost team, maybe that's you?

We're a non-profit organisation on a mission to create modern, independent publishing technology to power the future of online journalism.

This is not a rocket-ship. You won't find any unicorn glitter or exponential curves around here, just a real company with a sustainable business which has been profitable from year 1 and has been growing healthily ever since. Currently our Annual Recurring Revenue is $1,700,000 - and annual net revenue is about $2million. We're very transparent about our mission and our metrics, you can read all about us.

Ghost is a full stack web application for running independent publications. It’s one of the most popular modern open source projects in the world, and is used in production by tens of thousands of websites and companies.

Chances are you've already visited and read sites which run on Ghost. Our users range from hugely popular bloggers like Jeff Atwood, Troy Hunt and Joel Gascoigne - through to some of the world's largest organisations like Apple, Square, DuckDuckGo, OpenAI, CloudFlare, Digital Ocean, Mozilla, Napster, Tinder, OkCupid and many, many more.

As the company grows, we're looking to expand our design team and improve everything about the Ghost brand and how it's represented to our users and customers. We care, deeply, about great design and experience — at the expense of most other things. Design work has a very strong voice here.

    What we're looking for

    • This is a broad role which is about leading design in lots of different areas, primarily around all of our brand, marketing, website, and just about every property that our users will come into contact with.

    • All of Ghost's design was initially done by our Founder/CEO - John, and today our design is led by Zimo - who spends the majority of his time deeply focused on our product. You'll be the 3rd member of the Ghost design team, so you'll have a massive amount of opportunity to influence design across the entire organisation.

    • We're looking for a visual designer with a deep understanding of marketing, branding, and user communication — and who cares deeply about quality, and helping to create (+evolve) a refined, beautiful style.

    What this role involves:

    • Working with design and marketing leadership to define, evolve, and maintain Ghost's brand identity across all marketing and product touch points.

    • Creation of websites, landing pages, diagrams, illustrations, stickers, tshirts, checkout flows, billing management. You'll lead all of our most public facing properties and brand assets. The visual voice of the company.

    • You'll work with the marketing/business team on projects which are directly related to growing the business and creating user-facing content.

    • Designers at Ghost work on different cross-functional teams, there's still plenty of collaboration and feedback between teammates to help and support each other throughout various projects.

    • Lots of freedom to take control of your process, iterating and learning what works (and what doesn't), and putting your work into production. There's a lot of opportunity for professional growth here, as the team expands.

    • Communicating effectively with stakeholders when presenting your work and clearly articulating your design rationale

    • Managing multiple projects, while setting appropriate expectations and meeting realistic deadlines

We’re looking for someone who is:

    • An underdog. We aren't hiring flashy designers from Fortune 500's here, we're looking for real human people who like to do great work. If you don't think you're good enough for this role, then you're probably exactly who we'd like to join the team. Please do apply!

    • Fiercely independent. All teams at Ghost operate fairly autonomously, and all team members are responsible for helping make decisions about what needs to be done. You'll need to be comfortable ideating, prototyping, testing and delivering designs without someone standing over your shoulder telling you what to do.

    • Meticulous about style. Despite frequent character assassination amongst UX professionals, aesthetic style matters a great deal. We don't A/B test 50 shades of blue here to determine what converts best, we care about making beautiful things which we love.

    • Humble but opinionated. We like smart people who have lots of ideas, yet are happy to discard their former opinions whenever a better way of doing things presents itself.

    • A clear communicator. Good design is good communication, and as a remote team which communicates almost exclusively through writing — concise, written communication is absolutely essential to this role.

    • An active collaborator. We look for people who actively want critical feedback on their work early and often, and who get a kick out of refining and pushing what they do as a collaborative process because it creates a better end result. No design heroes.

    • Comfortable with code. Ghost is a software company, and everyone here codes in one way or another. You don't need to be an expert, but you do need to be actively open to learning and working with code to do design.

    • Hungry for meaningful work, and space to do it. Almost all work at Ghost is complex and extremely challenging - but also deeply rewarding. We're not in the slightest bit fucking interested in what Design-Twitter thinks about... well, anything at all really. We're aggressively uncool.

This role would be particularly suited to someone with a background as a freelancer or at an agency, who is looking for more, that they aren't getting from doing client work. This is a role where you can help influence design over the long term, not just fulfil a temporary brief which needs to be delivered quickly.

We don't mind where you're based or what hours you work, but this role does require reasonable working-hours overlap with the rest of our product/marketing teams in Europe.

We value diversity of all types at Ghost and our team is made up of a kind, thoughtful group of people with a wide range of backgrounds. We have as many people who speak German as we do English and our engineering team contains as many women as it does men. Some of us are single, others are married, while others are parents. We actively try to find people with different perspectives and experiences to the ones we already have.

All jobs at Ghost come with

    • Competitive salary

We pay well at market rates reflecting both location and experience

    • Fully remote work

Work from anywhere in the world, or travel continuously if that's your thing. Everything we do is online. As long as you have wifi, you're all set.

    • All the tech you need

We'll pay for whatever hardware and software you need to work and make sure you're regularly upgraded to the latest versions.

    • Office costs covered

Whether you prefer a home office or a co-working space, we'll help pay for it.

    • Personal development

An annual budget for books, courses, conferences and travel expenses.

    • Twice annual international team retreats

Every 6 months we get the whole crew together for a week away. The last few trips have taken us to Dubai, Thailand, Austria & Egypt.

    • 3 day weekends, all year long

We close the office on the last Friday of every single month. Enjoy!

    • Unlimited paid vacation*

*Minimum 2 weeks per year, if you don't take it yourself, we kick you out of the office in December until the new year rolls around.

    • Paid parental leave

When the time comes to welcome a new member of the family, we offer 3 months fully paid parental leave.

    • Guaranteed pay-reviews

Everyone at Ghost receives annual pay reviews to update their salary for market rate changes and inflation.

    • Dog friendly office

Just kidding we literally don't have an office - but apparently tech companies think is an important detail to put on job descriptions and we didn't want to feel left out. So, um. Feel free to work with your dog.

    Cats are cool, too.

    How to apply

We’re profitable, we have unlimited runway, and we have very healthy revenue growth. There's no investor pressure, time limit, or need to hire as many people as fast as possible to fill a fancy office. We want to keep the team small, automate as much as possible with robots, build great software, and enjoy our work. Those are the things we optimise for. If that sounds like a good fit for you, then we’d encourage you to get in touch.

All jobs at Ghost start with an application form, progressing to 1-2 short interviews, and finally a (paid) trial project assignment.

Rather than trying to guess if we'll work well together based on lengthy arbitrary interview questions or challenges - instead we invite promising candidates to work on a real life trial project with us and pay them for their time. Trial projects are typically 20-30 hours of work, and give us an opportunity to get to know each other prior to pursuing a full time offer. It’s also a chance for candidates to get to know the Ghost team and make sure that it’s a good fit for them.

The button below will take you to the application form for this position where you can tell us a little more about yourself. Or, if you know someone who would be a great fit - maybe send them a link to this page?

Please note: For this particular position at Ghost we are explicitly looking for someone who is based outside of North America.

    About the Role

We’re looking for a senior, founding UI designer to help build our product design team from the ground up. You’ll work closely with the Head of Product to help shape the UI and UX design of Bravado.

As a Senior Product Designer on the Bravado team, you’ll design experiences that enable thousands of sales professionals around the world to access the opportunity to build their reputation and grow with the Bravado platform.

    What You’ll Do:

    • Top-notch craftsmanship: Your portfolio has some amazing work. You're a walking encyclopedia of microinteractions in use (on web, desktop, mobile, etc), and have nuanced views on how to make many of them even better

    • Record of shipping great experiences: You've weathered release cycles and know what details matter at each stage, how to motivate engineers to get the fit and finish right, how to translate insights from user studies into meaningful action, and what's most likely to go afoul at each stage

    • You can share several shining examples of real work you've shipped, and -what you learned along the way

    • Capability to drive product decisions: You're a product manager's secret weapon. You thrive best when helping to define the requirements, not just translating them into designs. You facilitate and draw the best design ideas from teammates.

    • A never ending focus on your users: You don’t hesitate to call dispatchers, hop on a plane to meet with our product team or do a call with a user to uncover the truth about what they need. Back at the office, you happily speak on behalf of your users and work hard to help your collaborators understand them.

    • Attention to the bottom-line: Analytics don't intimidate you, and you know which features can act as multipliers on your company's business model

    • Great skills of planning and prioritization that lets you be more flexible: You have a demonstrated ability to take large complex projects and create a clear timeline of tasks and deliverables in a way that leverages teammates, tests, and iterates

  • Minerva Project (US only)
    ux

Minerva’s mission is to change the world by improving education everywhere. Minerva offers a next-generation educational system based on leading scientific research. Built to address the central educational challenges of the modern era, the Minerva system enables the rapid development of sophisticated programs for organizations of all types—from university partners to corporate employers.

Prior to this, we re-imagined and built a university that embodies the next generation of higher education: In 2013, Minerva formed an alliance with Keck Graduate Institute (KGI) to establish the Minerva Schools at KGI, a WASC-accredited, four-year undergraduate and two-year graduate institution. Read more about the admissions, academics, and global experience of the Minerva Schools.

At the core of the system used by the Minerva Schools and partners alike are an innovative methodology, an advanced educational technology, called Minerva Forum, and a modular curriculum design. By emphasizing active class participation, deliberate practice, and other empirically-proven methods, the system teaches students critical skills, as well as the ability to apply those skills to diverse and changing contexts.

We need you to help design that technology.

You’ll be part of a small team that works in close consultation with other teams—including product management, admissions, marketing, academic, and company leadership. You’ll work closely with developers and product management to help shape the future of Minerva Forum.

We are still growing. There are plenty of high-value and challenging new projects. We are also shifting many projects from prototypes and MVPs to thoughtfully designed long-lived systems. This is an opportunity to do interesting and important work, and to do it right.

Minerva is special because it is more than a job. It’s a chance to build something long-lasting, to leave a legacy and add meaning to your career. Our first class of Minerva Schools at KGI students graduated this summer, and we have already started the next chapter of bringing the Minerva system to the world, launching six partnerships this academic year. We take a long term view and, in our mission to nurture critical wisdom for the sake of the world, we've only just begun. We hope you join us!

Frontastic is looking for a Lead UI/UX Designer (f/m/*) as either part-time or full-time employee or freelancer. We are a remote-first company currently operating in the Europe/Berlin timezone. Locations in or close to Germany are preferred to make our regular in-person meetings easier.

Many startups believe that amazing UI/UX is a “nice to have”. For us, it’s a “must have” and an important key to achieve our vision: to be the standard for management and delivery of digital customer experiences on every device in the API-economy.

We’re looking for our first lead designer. You love taking creative risks, and have a thoughtful approach to both UI and UX? Then we should talk! Your goals will be twofold: how can you best improve the experience for customers and marketers, and how can you do so in a magnificently beautiful way?

This is not a junior position. If you are experienced, have proven to be able to work independently and like being a design mentor for everyone working at Frontastic, this position is for you.

    WHAT YOU’LL DO

    • Develop the Frontastic design language for our products and lead the user experience of our software products

    • Collaborate with business and engineering teams to understand and translate complex ideas into new features, screens and interface elements

    • Maintain design coherence and brand consistency across all Frontastic products, while providing guidance to other teams

    • Build functional and beautiful interfaces for our product

    • Create assets for our platform, including: thumbnails, banners, product images and more

    WHO YOU ARE

    • You have 3+ years of digital product design experience, working in B2B and B2C web applications

    • You have demonstrated experience working across all phases of the product design process, including ideation, user flows, wireframes, prototypes, high-fidelity mockups, copywriting, specs, visual assets, and other deliverables

    • You have a strong portfolio showcasing your best work

    • You are fluent in product design tools like Sketch, Figma or Framer

    • You have a can-do, startup mentality

    • You don’t see UX in isolation, but rather as a team attitude

    • You are motivated to work from your home office or a co-working space and able to structure your work day accordingly.

    • You are able and willing to prefer written communication to make well structured information readily available to everyone and follow established communication patterns

    • You are motivated to work from your home office or a co-working space and able to structure your work day accordingly. That’s what makes you special.

    WHAT WE OFFER

As our colleague you have the flexibility to choose your own working hours throughout the day to incorporate this job into your life-work balance. Our work week has 40 hours maximum and overtime is the exception. No vacation days are necessary to run errands, and there is certainly no need to wait until after work to take care of a family emergency.

Our team strives to improve themselves following these guidelines:

    • We offer a friendly learning environment and try hard not to blame anyone for not knowing something and actively encourage mentoring of your peers.

    • We use practices like pair programming, mob programming, test driven development when it makes sense and continuously refactor our code to constantly share knowledge and keep the amount of technical dept low.

    • We are a remote-first company with regular meetings in-person. We use tools like Email, AirTable, Hangouts and Slack to stay in touch during our daily work.

    • We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status. If we receive job applications from yet underrepresented groups those applications will be preferred.

    • Good Work Life Balance (really) – We ask our team to work 40 hours a week*. That’s all: a good, productive 40 hours. And then we try our best to leave you alone off the clock. We do this in part because that’s how we want to live but also because we want our team to be recharged and ready to do their best when working. *If you need to work fewer than 40 hours, that might be possible too; let’s talk.

Our teams are growing quickly and you'll help us scale how we work across the company to best serve our customers. This is a rare opportunity for a people-centric design leader to shape the future of a design-centric technology company in alignment with our core behaviors.

Design plays a central role in our company, especially since many of our customers are designers. Each core product area has at least one product designer embedded as a key partner, helping decide what we build. Two of our co-founders have design backgrounds, and we've strived to cultivate a creative and collaborative environment that allows our product teams to do their best work. This begins with our most important core behavior: start with customers. We focus on solving the most important customer needs while maintaining a high bar for quality. Industry-shifting products like Interactions, CMS, and Ecommerce all started by listening to the needs of our passionate community of designers, developers, entrepreneurs, and marketers.

If you’re excited about growing a world-class product design, brand design, and user research team, overseeing the design of high-quality products, and fostering a creative culture that encourages more diverse and global viewpoints then you’ll be a great fit! (We're also hiring Product Design Managers to work more closely with our individual contributors.)

Note: You'll need valid U.S. work authorization to join us.

    What you’ll do

    • Cultivate and evolve a world-class product design, brand design, and user research team with effective recruiting, strategic management, and team mentorship.

    • Coach and provide feedback on your team’s performance to ensure they are delivering high-quality work that meets customer and business needs.

    • Define clear career paths that help your team identify opportunities for growth and provide plans for achieving measurable goals.

    • Collaborate closely with leaders in other functions (PM and Engineering) to ensure that product teams are working effectively toward the high-level company strategy.

    • Work closely with leadership to fulfill the team’s core values, cultivate an inclusive and supportive culture, a clear organizational structure, and established processes.

    • Collaborate with your team and other functions (PM and Engineering) to define the vision and strategy for new product initiatives.

    • Represent Webflow in and engage with the larger design community by sharing your unique design insights through speaking, writing, tweeting, or any other medium that feels natural to you.

‍We'd love to hear from you if you have:

    • 2+ years of design management experience focused on serving others while hiring, developing, and managing designers, design leads, and design managers in a fast-growing environment.

    • A body of work that demonstrates high impact and high quality. You know what world-class design looks like and you empower your team to reach it.

    • Experience working on a large modern tech product or platform with significant scale. You’re a strong systems and conceptual thinker.

    • Demonstrated communication style that is concise, articulate, and capable of inspiring a team.

    • Experience setting product design direction, from high-level strategic direction down to UI design details, within a multi-team and cross-discipline environment.

    • Ability to influence without authority and proven experience working with Product and Engineering to affect positive outcomes.

    • A commitment to cultivating an inclusive team culture that ensures a happy, motivated, diverse, and high-functioning design team.

    • A strong growth mindset with a demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to change.

    • A tendency to dream big and encourage creative risk-taking while protecting the integrity of the brand.

    Applying

    • Think you’re a good fit for the role? We’d love to hear from you — even if you don’t meet 100% of the requirements.

    • Our goal is to create a hiring experience that provides opportunities for and values everyone equally. We value whatever it is that makes you unique—your educational background, experience, ethnicity, age, citizenship, gender identity — and we would love to explore the value you can add to our team.

  • About RenoFi

The demand for home renovations has never been stronger, yet, it's surprisingly difficult for a new homeowner to renovate. It can take a decade to build up enough home equity and savings to pay for a major renovation. As a result, recent homeowners do a lot of financially-suboptimal things to compensate like borrow from their 401k, rack up credit card debt and use high interest personal loans. Or they just live unhappily for years in a home that doesn't meet their family's needs.

But by completing a major renovation, homeowners are increasing the value of their home. Professional real estate investors leverage this After Renovation Value (ARV) to roll the increase in value into new properties all the time. But there hasn't been a great way for homeowners to take advantage of this. If homeowners had an ability to borrow against the ARV, they could increase their borrowing power up to 10x.

To meet this need, RenoFi created the first home equity loan purpose-built for renovations! Unlike standard home equity loans, RenoFi Loans use the value of your home post-renovation which lets you borrow the most money at the best possible terms.  RenoFi is creating a full suite of renovation loan products to better suit the needs of today’s homeowners!

For homeowners, RenoFi makes it possible to renovate years earlier than might be otherwise feasible. For contractors, we empower the financing of renovations at the point of sale, reducing instances of scope reduction and ensuring prompt payment. Our lender partners, most often credit unions, rely on RenoFi's platform to generate loans, create efficiencies, and grow membership. The lenders pay RenoFi for the new loans, which allows us to offer our services to homeowners for free. RenoFi is truly a win-win-win for everyone involved.

RenoFi is backed by some of the best startup investors in the world, including First Round Capital, Canaan Partners and Comcast Ventures.

    What you’ll do at RenoFi

We are hiring our first product designer to help us build products for the homeowners who come to RenoFi for assistance financing their renovation, systems to integrate with our lender partners, and applications for our service provider partners (like contractors and architects) who refer clients to RenoFi. You will have the opportunity to work across these product areas and applications.

This is your opportunity to get in on the ground-floor. You’ll have a ton of impact and help us to define our products and processes.

    What we look for

A deep thinking product designer who is passionate about making great products that improve the lives of real people. You understand how to balance the needs of the users, the business and technology.

At RenoFi you will be involved in every aspect of the product development process, from brainstorming product innovations, to prototyping, to tweaking pixels right before launch. You will be expected to utilize your full range of UX, interaction, and UI design skills.

We face a number of design challenges. You’ll lead the full lifecycle of your own product design projects, shape how we test and optimize existing features, and make a positive impact on how the design team operates and engages with the rest of the company. You love a fast-paced product cycle and feel comfortable iterating quickly. You care about interaction design, typography and layout, and understand the complex nature of changing web and mobile technologies having designed for both.

You love to dive in and understand the very essence of a problem, why we’re solving it and what success will look like. You love to get into the mindset of users, to understand how they think and feel and create a true sense of empathy for them.

You love challenging problems and can collaborate with team members to define the problem, form a hypothesis, and work to test your hypothesis quickly.

You have a quiver of product design tools & techniques that you can deploy at the right moment. You also understand the value of user research and some techniques to employ in order to get the right data to inform your design decisions.

You have strong communication and collaboration skills. Our team is a highly collaborative team, so open dialogue and a positive attitude is crucial. You craft amazing looking visuals for digital experiences, and you create functionality that always keeps simplicity, ease of use, optimization and context in mind.

You have 4+ years of experience building building and shipping applications or software that span desktop, tablet, and mobile.

We are a globally distributed team

RenoFi is a fully distributed team. Please highlight any prior experience working remotely when applying. US or GMT-adjacent timezones will be prioritized.

RenoFi offers competitive cash and equity compensation. Some benefit offerings will vary from country to country. In the United States, we offer competitive health and retirement plans. All staff across the globe enjoy a flexible vacation policy.

You are seeking to help build digital experiences that won't settle for any standard less than inspiring love and admiration by people, for people. You are naturally curious, eager to explore uncharted territory, and diligent in balancing competing opportunities and constraints.

You seek growth through constant feedback loops and constructive critique. You naturally challenge yourself and others to achieve increasingly complex challenges and key results over time.

Tara AI helps enterprise companies predict their spec, timeline and personnel needs for future software products, by analyzing their past projects. Today, the process of scoping is a completely manual process; enterprise companies are losing an average of $66Bn through inefficiencies in IT and software project scoping leading to cost and timeline overruns. However, F500 companies are sitting on a treasure trove of data in their project management systems, git version control and workforce directories. We connect to this data via an API, and using ML models, predict how to build their software (technical tasks), how long projects should take (timeline) and who will execute (team) when starting a new project.  Customers include product teams at F500s like IBM, Cisco & Orange Telecom.

Tara leverages artificial intelligence to create project plans (scopes) in real time. Our algorithms pair customers with the right internal engineers and external freelancers within hours, and deliver an experience that offers full transparency into project progress and milestones, down to the most granular of tasks.

Tara AI is looking for a creative, visually articulate UI designer who can lead our design initiatives and deliver beautiful, intuitive web experiences for our application. As an integral part of our design team, you will work cross-functionally with the product and engineering teams to drive our design vision into solid, compelling deliverables. We’re looking for someone with a strong passion for user interface design, great attention to aesthetics, and a strong portfolio in enterprise product design. If you’ve got a knack for making real-world difference, Tara AI wants to hear from you.

    Responsibilities:

    • Evaluating existing applications and evaluating their UI effectiveness in collaboration with product managers and engineers

    • Collaborating with our UX designers in user testing of applications, software and websites

    • Creating and implementing interaction models, user flows, and user interface specifications

    • Illustrating design ideas using storyboards, process flows and sitemaps

    • Developing and maintaining design wireframes and specifications of best practices to share with design team as new projects begin

    • Identify opportunities for improvements and make recommendations to create high-fidelity and compelling illustrations and frameworks

    Requirements:

    • 3+ years in user interface design, preferably at a SaaS company

    • Ability to tackle all design challenges and align customer demands with business goals to generate UI solutions

    • Proven success in translating business needs into visually-engaging, customer-focused solutions

    • Solid experience in creating wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows and site maps

    • Proficiency in Sketch or Zeplin, Adobe Creative Suite, OmniGraffle, or other visual design and wire-framing tools

    • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for rapid prototyping

    • Excellent visual design skills with sensitivity to user-system interaction

Please submit links to your portfolio to be considered for the role (Dribble profile or live URLs to apps or web platforms).

We are looking for a UI/UX designer to join us. You will be responsible for designing the interface and usability of a variety of apps, for a range of different use cases and levels of complexity. In addition to a solid background in UI/UX, an interest in, and understanding of, the blockchain space would be a big bonus.

    Responsibilities

    • Design, test and ship the user interface on multiple apps across platforms

    • Collaborate with front-end and blockchain developers

    • Be autonomous and self driven

    • Help us create and maintain the company’s culture and core values while we grow

    Requirements

    • 3+ years experience as a UX/UI Designer or similar role

    • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript

    • Great communication skills

    • High level understanding of blockchain and p2p networks

    • Some experience working in crypto is nice, but experience as a user can compensate

    Benefits

    • Competitive salary

    • High degree of autonomy to schedule your work week and vacation time

    • Company retreats to conferences and events

Ideally, you would be located or willing to relocate to Oslo, but working remotely is also an option. In the latter case, you would have to be located in a reasonably suitable time zone, and expect to travel to Oslo up to four times a year.

  • Who we are / what we do

At Hanno, we’re dedicated to helping organisations of all sizes transform themselves and the healthcare industry. For us, this means rethinking what it takes to design, build and launch the next generation of digital health products and services—whether their goal is improving patient care, treatment compliance, clinical diagnostics or surgical precision—these are serious challenges, and they need seriously good solutions.

More than a consultancy, we’re also an in-house product team—we are effectively building and launching new startup propositions for our clients and ourselves. To do this we need an amazing team of designers, engineers, strategists, and roles we haven’t even created yet.

We don’t work like an agency, or a consultancy, or even a product studio. We work with our clients as if we were part of their team. We join them in the trenches. We treat the unseen aspects of their product as if they were on full display. We go above and beyond the brief to maximise the impact and success they have on the market and the users they serve.

To live up to this, everyone in our team relentlessly drives towards the same goal—to improve the health and wellbeing of people all over the world.

If that lights a fire in your belly, come on board.

    What you'll be doing

    • You’ll be the custodian of everything the user touches—defending their interests and needs (to the death) and solving serious design challenges with elegant, intuitive and, if needs be, unconventional solutions, with a touch of personal flair. In practical terms, you’ll be working on greenfield projects, collaborating closely with UX directors, art directors and the best engineers, strategists and “tier 1” clients to create engaging user experiences; building prototypes, designing beautiful and polished interfaces, leading other designers, and helping ensure smooth handovers.

    • You use design best practices that work – You have great taste in interfaces. You keep abreast of what works and what doesn’t as our medium continues to evolve. You can instantly recognise the tools and methods required to achieve results in any given situation.

    • You can work fast, and slow – Having worked in both fast-paced start-up environments and more process-driven corporate settings, you understand how to balance lean design principles with corporate governance and signoff processes.

    • You’re willing and able to go beyond the conventional – Digital products can lack personality, style and risk-taking. We never compromise accessibility or performance but we do push the creative boundaries of what’s possible to create unique, engaging experiences. You’re not only comfortable with this but crave the opportunity to create original concepts and new UI systems.

    • You’ve found balance – You know how to balance a product’s design with what your peers would applaud and what your client and their users really need. You know when to strive for pixel perfect, when good is good enough, and when polished interactions and animations serve a purpose, and when they are simply a pursuit of vanity.

    • You have a sharp eye for detail – You have highly developed organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks. You strive for quality not only in your final deliverables but also in the working assets you use along the way.

    • You over-communicate with the team about your priorities, choices, tradeoffs, and the rationale behind the design decisions you take.

    You'll have

    • Several years experience in product design with experience leading other designers

    • A portfolio of projects that you can talk us through: the end result, the process you took, trade-offs you had to make, the inspiration and design systems you used

    • A deep understanding and appreciation of the various design systems and guidelines that dominate app and web interfaces, and where and when they should be used

    • Strong UX capabilities: you’re able to interrogate and understand a product's users and commercial goals and make sure our work drives towards these

    • Expert UI skills: you have a rich understanding of UI principles and can apply these to polished, interactive designs

    • A proactive mindset: if there's something you don't understand, or a task/process tweak that's needed, you seek to address it rather than relying on others to

    • Fluency in spoken and written English: accents are fine, but we work on tricky projects across multiple time zones so great communication is a must

    • Willingness to get overlap with the team: they’ll be on a European time zone, so you’ll need to arrange for at least 4 hours of overlap each day

    • Bonus if you also have

    • Experience doing all of the above 100% remotely!

    • Achieved mastery of; type hierarchies, interaction language, intuitive navigation, modality, card-based component design, and data visualisation

    • Knowledge and experience of designing products for patients and clinicians

  • Knowable (US only)

Knowable is a new platform for premium, expert-led audio courses that are designed to inspire curious minds. Conceptually, a bit like Masterclass, but more substantive and focused on screen-free learning through audio.

In 2019, there’s overabundance of video entertainment, and everyone's starting to feel the effects of too much screen time. We believe there’s an exciting opportunity to create more nourishing and mentally stimulating experiences through audio.

Our 5-10 hour courses are co-produced by some of the best podcast studios in the world, and feature lessons and stories from celebrities and top subject matter experts. The full courses are purchased via our website and mobile apps, where we also plan to deliver other interactive learning experiences.

Knowable is already VC-backed, and we're launching our first course in Q2 2019.

We're looking for an outstanding UX/UI design generalist that can lead our design efforts holistically, from product design to branding. You'll be the primary designer and will work directly with our co-founder and head of product.

    Responsibilities:

    • Product design for mobile and web

    • User research

    • Branding and identity

    • Marketing assets

    • Creative / art direction

Experience and attributes we’re looking for:

    • Prior work on notable consumer apps and websites

    • Mastery of UX principles and UI design

    • Thoughtful use of animations and other visual effects in your prior work

    • Demonstrable ability to take the perspective of users and think critically about what they want

    • Prior work on audio-focused apps, including components like audio players, streaming, podcasts, music, sound effects, haptic feedback

    • Art/design educational background is preferred, but your work should speak for itself

    • You should have your own personal website (or a solid portfolio PDF) that showcases your abilities and your excitement for design.

    Huge plus if:

    • You love audio learning (podcasts, ebooks) and storytelling

    • You care about our mission of enriching lives through education and inspiration

    • You can draw and illustrate

    • You also have engineering / front-end skills and can build interactive prototypes

You'll be joining a small, seasoned founding team that's already venture-backed by top investors like Initalized, First Round Capital, Upfront Ventures, NEA, and SV Angel. We previously built Vidme, a UGC video platform that scaled to more than 25 million monthly active users and was recently acquired by Giphy.

This is a unique opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a small, funded startup that's inventing a new format of high production value, "cinematic" audio courses, along with an interactive learning experience that goes beyond what people have come to expect with podcasts.

Our team is partially distributed so any location within the US is OK, but Los Angeles is strongly preferred.

Open to full-time or contractors. No recruiters, agencies, or consultancies, please.

Please send us your prior work, especially consumer projects, and tell us about your favorite podcasts and ebooks!

    POSITION OVERVIEW

The space where impossibility intersects reality; where companies speed beyond norms and realize an exploded potential; where light filters out darkness, and machine intelligence makes everything about business smarter.   Hypergiant is rapidly growing and is in search for bright & creative minds who not only think outside a box, but don’t believe a box exists.  If you’ve ever been told you are a right-brain / left-brain individual, then we should chat.

    WHAT WE'D LIKE TO SEE

Hypergiant is rapidly growing and is in search of a client-facing Senior Visual Designer to help design and brand AI-driven solutions for the enterprise. Ideally, you have amassed deep experience at a high-intensity agency, software development shop, or in-house at a SaaS startup. A broad understanding of how AI would improve a large, Fortune 500 company’s business is necessary.

    YOUR DAY-TO-DAY

You’re a self-motivated individual who loves to solve big problems from a human-centered design perspective. You’re more than capable of holding your own in conversations about Artificial Intelligence, technology, Agile development, and more, but you are particularly inclined towards improving the holistic experience for people. You do your homework on the client, advances in their industry, and go above and beyond to forge relationships with key decision-makers.

    WHAT YOU'LL GET

YOU WANT TO WIN. It could be a small mom & pop oil and gas company or a large fashion brand based out of NYC, but you always enter and exit the room with confidence, new friends, and new opportunities for Hypergiant to pursue.

We’re looking for a Product Designer to play a key role in every phase of product development.

This is a unique opportunity to be a high-impact, early member of the Aptible Team. Reporting directly to our VP of Design, you'll be responsible for designing and developing tools that help our clients improve their security posture.

    About Aptible

    Our Vision

We see a future where it’s easy to bring a great idea into the world using the internet, while respecting data security and privacy. The next generation of businesses will design security and privacy into their operating processes. If every business is going to be a software business, every business will need to be a security business.

We’re working to make information security a core competency of every startup. We envision a world in which startups have access to great information security, are empowered to focus on their businesses instead of on compliance, can scale faster and more efficiently, and are confident that they're creating quality products.

    Our Values

    Commitment to the Team

We're passionate about building a diverse team of talented people who accomplish great things together, regardless of where they are. We talk a lot about the science of high-performing teams and how to make Aptible the best environment to support that kind of team. If you love the mutual support and camaraderie of a strong team that wins together, we want to hear from you.

    Commitment to Each Other

We commit to each other as individuals, one on one. We measure our commitments carefully and hold each other accountable, which means we’re able to deliver more for our colleagues and customers in the long run. We set only a few very clear, ambitious goals as a company each quarter, and talk about them constantly to reinforce focus. We make time to recognize, praise, and reward those who consistently deliver on their promises.

    Commitment to The Mission

Startups are hard, and we expect challenges and missteps. We love winning, but most of all, we value getting back up and getting better at what we do. We are deeply motivated to build trust on the internet by empowering teams, and we respect grit and perseverance in furtherance of that mission.

    Growth Over Perfection

We fail often and early, and learn from it. We talk about improving constantly. We praise those who give feedback early and often. We put effort into being good at giving feedback: When we give feedback, we make each other feel big, not small. This helps create an environment where we can take reasonable risks, which in turn helps us make decisions quickly and learn fast. We expect managers to delegate a lot, and acknowledge that delegation means sometimes letting someone make what you think is the wrong decision.

    Teaching as Learning

We are a team of learners. We value and respect teaching as the best way to learn, and make time to share information openly. We set explicit goals around training, and devote resources to developing and improving our internal training. We praise those who share knowledge in public — by asking and answering questions in team chat, writing documentation, and writing for our customers.

    Taking Responsibility Over Giving Responsibility

Identifying problems is a good start, but we love solving them more. We think and talk a lot about how we can improve, and work hard at it. We value and reward those who take initiative. We don't like meetings where we only talk about problems.

    Asking Why

We ask “why?” a lot in order to understand root causes. Asking why helps us cultivate focus and make high-quality decisions quickly. We don't attribute mistakes to human error. We view them as a starting point for an inquiry, not the end.

    Your Impact

    • You'll play a leading role in shaping the vision and strategy of our products, and continuously materialize this into high-level UX concepts to pixel-perfect visual designs.

    • You'll partner with our Product Management, Engineering, and Data Protection Advisory Teams to establish alignment and inspire our team with an actionable product vision.

    • You'll partner with our Product Management Team to design and conduct Human-Centered Design activities with customers and prospects.

    • You'll help cultivate a strong design culture at Aptible.

    Your Strengths

    • Product Design Experience: You have 2+ Years of experience as a Product Designer driving meaningful change for a product. You can design to constraints and develop a deep understanding of organizational context (e.g. team, timelines, business and customer needs).

    • Product Design Portfolio: Your portfolio demonstrates your experience at each stage of the user-centered design process, as well as strong Interaction and Visual Design.

    Our Benefits

    • Work from Anywhere: Enjoy the flexibility of working from home, a local co-working space, or your favorite coffee shop.

    • Open Vacation Policy: We encourage you to take the time you need, when you need it — for any holiday or matter of personal importance.

    • Paid Parental Leave: We offer job-protected Paid Time Off — 12 Weeks, Fully Paid — for all parents to bond with a newly born, adopted, or fostered child.

    • Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance: We offer comprehensive health care for employees, with 100% of premiums paid by Aptible.

    • Hardware & Software: We help you create your ideal office setup and provide any software you’ll need.

    • Company Travel: We come together in-person at least two to three times per year, in locations around the globe.
