Interviewing is a universal experience, but it is no one’s job

Interviews are the gateway between people and jobs--they are a critical connection point. And yet, while the interview is a universal experience, it has never been recognized as its own discipline. In fact, the vast majority of people conducting interviews receive no formal training in how to do so.

Karat is the market leader in Interview Engineering

At Karat, our mission is to make every interview predictive, fair, and enjoyable. To do so, we created and established the category of Interview Engineering.

Founded in 2014, Karat is a privately held and venture-funded company based in Seattle. Key clients include Pinterest, PayPal, Citrix, Intuit, and InVision.

      Interview Engineering at Karat

Karat Interview Engineers are a community of experienced software developers who are equipped with best practices and technology needed to provide the most predictive, fair, and enjoyable interviews to software engineering job candidates. Interview Engineers include software development managers, software engineers, and freelancers covering the full technology stack. As an Interview Engineer, you will interview job candidates using the Karat approach and interviewing infrastructure in a wide variety of roles on behalf of leading companies worldwide.

Flexible, high impact work that is compensated at highly competitive rates.

As an Interview Engineer, you will be compensated at highly competitive rates for your interviewing expertise.  The time commitment is flexible---many of our interviews happen on nights and weekends.  Some experts do 10 interviews/week while others do over 25 interviews/week.  You can work from anywhere, anytime.  You will sharpen your interviewing skills and transform the interviewing experience for every candidate and company.

      About You

Experienced software engineers who believe that interviewing is a first-class job

Interviewing experience focused on evaluating fundamental computer science skills (i.e. data structures, algorithms etc.), software craftsmanship (i.e. understanding of unit testing, source control, APIs etc.), and/or specific technologies (i.e. iOS, distributed systems etc.)

Strong oral and written communication skills

Able to empathize with candidates and provide actionable feedback

A genuine desire to continuously improve the Karat service and technical interviewing

      Statement of Non-Discrimination:

In keeping with our beliefs and goals, no employee or applicant will face discrimination or harassment based on: race, color, ancestry, national origin, religion, age, gender, marital/domestic partner status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, disability status, or veteran status. Above and beyond discrimination and harassment based on “protected categories,” we also strive to prevent other subtler forms of inappropriate behavior (i.e., stereotyping) from ever gaining a foothold in our office. Whether blatant or hidden, barriers to success have no place at Karat.

We value a diverse workforce: people of color, womxn, and LGBTQIA+ individuals are strongly encouraged to apply.

With thanks to the Level Playing Field Institute for this statement of non-discrimination.

      • Talk to existing customers about their work and write up Customer Stories
      • Help produce ebooks, worksheets, and other long-form content

      • You have a passion for helping customers, and are driven to help them succeed.

      About HelpDocs

      • We're bootstrapped, profitable and remote. You'll get to learn how all that works.
      • Transparent internal metrics and goals. We'll share (nearly) everything with you from day 1.
      • The whole team is friendly, approachable, and inclusive to all.
      • 1-2 team retreats a year. We're currently planning our fourth team retreat for January 2020. We've had retreats in Madrid, Panama and Bangkok so far.
      • We'll provide whatever software & equipment you need to do your job successfully
      • Flexible vacation policy. Technically we offer 28 days to all employees, but we're not counting. If you need time, take it. Then come back and do great work. 💪

      •    You’ve done the sales thing. Demonstrated track record of success ideally with Medicare and/or individual health insurance.  Call center/phone sales experience a plus.

      •    Consultative selling approach, good listener and empathetic in working with the senior market.

      •    Skillful in building rapport, conveying information with a systematic approach and in guiding a conversation from hello to thank you for buying.

      •    Naturally competitive with an internal drive in competing with yourself and colleagues in achieving new goals. Staying positive believing the next call will be the one that gets you a sale.

      •    Being efficient with your time in working with a customer, colleague or manager.  Know when to move on from a call or stay with it.  Self-motivating and task oriented.

      •    Demonstrated strong technical skills, being able to multitask and manipulate multiple screens including various software systems, quote engine, carrier application while continuing a conversation with the customer.

      •    High school diploma or equivalent is required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.

      •    A valid TX state-issued insurance license. Must reside in Texas.

      •    Medicare experience is preferred but not required

      What we provide:

      •    Pre-qualified customers, multiple nationally recognized carriers and broad breadth of products – Medicare supplements, Medicare Advantage plans and ancillary products including dental and vision.

TL;DR: this job may be for you if:

      • You want location freedom.
      • You want to work on difficult computer science problems.
      • You're bored with application-level development in SomeFrameworkJS.
      • You dig TypeScript, and care about things like code cleanliness, novel architectures, designing for intellisense, and upstream code usability.

      About Truebase

At Truebase, we have a software platform that extracts insights from Truth code (our open-source type-safe data language), and then uses these insights to emit various digital assets such as native Mac/Windows/iOS/Android apps, data visualization tools, web-based information systems, etc. This technique is based on years of scientific research, and we're now starting to gain major traction from large enterprises. We can't hire as fast as we can close sales.

      We're Contrarians

But not for contrarian sake. We have a track record of achieving things deemed "impossible", which we've done by operating genuinely outside the box, rather than simply operating inside a different box, occupied by some ruling class. To be effective at Truebase, you should be energized by our tendency to violate convention, versus object with reasons why we should just do things like The Cool Kids™.

Side note: Everyone in this company dropped out of school. A lack of university degree makes you more appealing at Truebase (Pure Math degrees excepted).

      Who You Need To Be

First and foremost, we're looking for people who can work at the system level. For example:

      • Could you write your own custom regular expression evaluator?
      • How about doing code transformations based on static analysis of abstract syntax trees?
      • Does building some platform like Electron or React or Bitcoin from scratch sound exciting?

The idea is not that you've done these things specifically, but rather that you're eager to slay technical dragons of this level. Experience with application-level frameworks isn't of much use here-our outstanding issues do not look like "Implement a sharing of widgets", but rather "Implement bounded contravariance in the Truth type checker".

Additionally, we're looking for a fairly senior developer that understands what code engineered for a 10+ year lifespan looks like. You should be comfortable being given loose requirements, punching your way through unfamiliar territory, and coming back with an elegant, performant, well-thought-out code library that is a joy for other developers to use (inside or outside the company).

      How to apply

      1. First you need to apply, by sending us your "resume". You may interpret "resume" to mean anything from a link to your GitHub, to a link to a video showing a presentation you did, or maybe something else entirely.

      2. We'll schedule a quick call to see what you're looking for, and answer any questions you might have. We expect you to lead the job interview.

      3. We're then going to conduct a professional personality profile assessment (using the big 5). You can keep the results of this for your own purposes.

      4. Then we'll set up a time for the final interview where we'll email you an open-ended question, such as "Should drugs be legal?". Then you have an hour on your to formulate an answer, after which we'll discuss over a call. (The goal of this is for us to walk away thinking "Wow, that was a well thought-out answer").

      Things We Use

Development Tools: Visual Studio Code, TypeScript, WallabyJS, Git, Tower (Git GUI), GitScout, Verdaccio

Information Management: RocketChat, Typora, pCloud, BitWarden

Hardware: MacBooks / iMacs / Large External Monitors / Portable iPad Monitors

      Perks

100% Remote:  We have no office, and desire to keep it this way. We also have no citizenship preferences. Our only restriction is that we ask that you generally stay within the western hemisphere, keep some regular schedule, and be in a place with a relatively stable internet connection.

We Don't Cheap Out On Tools:  We understand that time is far more expensive than tools. Let us know what equipment you need for your particular circumstance (are you a nomad? do you have a home office?), and we'll ship it to your door.

Work As A Contractor: You have the option to work as a contractor, which in many countries, results in significant tax advantages.

Referral Bonuses:  We offer bonuses if you convince your friend to work for Truebase, and they get hired. Additionally, if you walk us into another company and we're able to make a sale, we'll give you a cut.

Competitive Salary:  You should feel like you're "doing pretty well" working at Truebase.

    • Giant Swarm GmbH (European timezones)
      Yesterday

We are looking for a Kubernetes Solution Engineer

Giant Swarm is a fast growing open source infrastructure management platform used by modern enterprises. Our vision is to empower developers around the world to ship great products.

You are the voice of the customer inside Giant Swarm and the voice of Giant Swarm towards the customers, helping both sides to be successful.

We're a distributed, diverse, and growing team, spread across Europe. The company is based in Cologne, Germany, where we have a small office in a coworking space. However, only a few people work there. All workflows are created to function remotely - but of course, if you want to visit Cologne, you are more than welcome!

While we are remote first, we appreciate quality time with our co-workers, so we meet in person twice a year to work and have fun together.

      Work-life integration

      • Flexible working hours, and working from home or anywhere you prefer but please note that your permanent location should be somewhere in Europe.

      • Currently, the number of kids from our team members outnumbers the number of employees.

      • We don’t only care about the kids “within” the company, but also about all children - for example, we compensate the carbon of all our flights.

      • As an international company, we want to create similar standards for everyone, regardless of location. So, additional perks (for example, a location-aware, fixed amount paid each month to cover costs like co-working, phone contracts or gym memberships), paid parental leave and healthcare compensation are compulsory.

      Your Job:

      • You work closely with customers to understand their architecture and further their understanding of Giant Swarm, helping them to get the most out of our product and the CNCF landscape, master Cloud Native tools like Kubernetes, Prometheus as well as Loki, Helm and others.

      • Our solution engineers are becoming part of diverse open source communities around tools that our customers need and use, contributing back to those projects where possible. You build and maintain helm charts that might start out as a special project for one customer and end up being a managed service run by all our customers.

      • You hold trainings and workshops at conferences, for our existing customers, as well as with Giant Swarm’s potential customers. Do note that the role requires minimum travel as most of our interactions as a fully remote company are via video conferencing.

      • Learn from customer's problems with moving to microservices architectures, get your hands dirty and find out what Cloud Native project's entrails look like. The more successful our customers are with the Cloud Native journey, the more successful we are.

      • Ultimately, you are also responsible for documentation, helping the product teams implement fixes, prioritizing features and making sure we only need to answer questions once.

      • First impressions are important! You help create a great onboarding experience for our customers and become the main point of contact for them.

      • To sum it up: Customer Success is all that matters. Within the solution engineering team, we make sure our customers are happy and taking the right steps going forward, at best you anticipate the problems they might face in the future.

Why we think this job is worth applying for (challenge us!)

      • Impact, Impact, Impact! We are a remote-first organization with a growing team from 15+ European countries. Every new team member changes the team. This is great! People who know things we don’t are highly welcome.

      • “It's easier to ask forgiveness than it is to get permission” (Grace Hopper) - sure, it’s not 100% like this, but we have a strong culture of failure which, is part of our agile mindset. We don’t do things like in the guidebook. You can try things out! Our default to 100% transparency will help you here.

      • We play a key role in our customers' digital transformation. We have partnered up with Amazon and Microsoft to provide our solution on their cloud platforms - more will follow.

      • We have been in this ecosystem from the get-go and as part of the CNCF family, we feel at home in the community. As a part of Giant Swarm, you will also join this extended family.

      • We serve some of Europe's leading organizations and are talking to many more.

      WHY Giant Swarm?

We like to give you a glimpse on how working with is like:

      Self-organization

Creative work needs freedom and openness. We encourage you to do your work wherever and whenever you want. We expect passion and encourage sustainability. If you need rest, take it. We don't count holidays - but we are also aware that this combined with remote work can also lead to working too much. So we encourage you to take holidays and help you to manage the freedom and flexibility.

      Teamwork

We are a growing company with team members distributed all over Europe and plans on expanding to the US. Our ambitious goals are only achievable as a team. Everybody’s input is highly welcome and appreciated. Although sometimes rules and processes are necessary, we try to keep them as lean as possible. Always question the status quo and find new ways of collaboration and teamwork.

      Learning

Learning is mandatory and fun at the same time. If you realize you want to expand your knowledge in a specific area, we support you with conferences, books etc.

      Basics

We offer fair (transparent and open) salaries with benefits like choosing your own laptop, additional perks (for example, a location-aware, fixed amount paid each month to cover costs like co-working, phone contracts or gym memberships), paid parental leave and healthcare compensation are compulsory. And you will participate in our stock options program. Currently, our team members have more children than we are employees. So family-friendliness is a must.

We are not hiring job descriptions. We hire humans. :) We welcome applications from everybody, regardless ethnic or national origin, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation or age.

      Requirements:

      • You have experience with more than one programming language, including Go, and a strong architectural background.

      • You feel at home in the Kubernetes world, especially the multitude of Open Source tools around Kubernetes and the Container World.

      • You have a strong sense in providing an awesome customer service that makes life easier for Developers. Your communication skills (especially written form) are excellent. Very good English skills are a must-have. German skills are a bonus.

      • You are open to attend conferences with our team and hold talks in front of customers. You are happy to travel 5-10% per year

    • BookingSync (European timezones)

BookingSync is more than a vacation rental solution for hosts and agencies; it is a platform for hundreds of applications and developers. We need an excellent engineer to take on the challenges of developing integration with multiple APIs from our partners, beautifully designed micro/macro-services, modeling complex domain and doing all that following TDD and writing a code of excellent quality.

We are growing fast and so are our requirements for scalability and stability. We are no longer at a scale where adding X number of servers solves all the issues. Database sharding, replicating data via message queues/distributed streams, optimizing response times in APIs to the max, integration with multiple services coming from our own ecosystem and numerous third-party services, and very soon dealing with big data - those are the things you can surely expect to be challenged by.

We are also a fully-remote async/distributed company across the entire world without a physical office. If traveling is your passion and you highly value location-independence, BookingSync is the right place for you.

      You will need to have:

      • Strong experience with Ruby on Rails

      • Proficiency in backend development in general

      • Solid design and architecture skills

      • Ability to demonstrate that with the right approach Rails can scale easily

      • Ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external development teams

      • Experience with relational databases and SQL (we're on Postgres). Experience with other databases will be a plus

      • A strong commitment to quality

      • Excellent written and spoken English

      • Experience with remote work and/or a solid work ethic that makes it possible to thrive in a remote-only environment

      • Care for the greater good, BookingSync is not just a software company, we give back to humanitarian, solidarity, environmental & ecological causes from 10% to 50% of our profit.

It would be great if you had experience with:

      • Messaging solutions (RabbitMQ, Kafka, etc.)

      • DDD/CQRS/ES, Clean Architecture

      • Contributing to development community through code, documentation, mentoring, teaching, speaking and all other forms

      • Short terms rentals or travel industry

    • Precision Nutrition (US or Canada)
      Today

PN is looking for a Client Care manager who’s passionate about health, fitness and helping people live their best life.

Precision Nutrition is growing, and we need an organized, multi-talented leader who can help us refine the client care practices of a fast-growing organization. As one of the largest nutrition coaching companies in the world, PN is bigger than it’s ever been — and it’s about to get bigger.

To help us scale, we need an agile, intuitive manager to build a customer support team and refine its strategy so we can help millions more people live healthier, happier lives.

We’re embarking on a new adventure, and we need an experienced manager to scale our customer support.

We’ve got an exciting journey ahead of us…

Over the next 10 years, Precision Nutrition will be expanding its world-class education and coaching services into a wide range of new fields, including yoga, group exercise, sports coaching, athletics, manual therapy and more.

To help us reach our goals and keep us moving forward, we need a Director of Customer Experience who knows how to boost both satisfaction and sales through the art of customer care.

      Who we’re looking for

An adaptable manager fluent in every aspect of customer success.

      You’re adaptable.

Things change, and you’re deft at pivoting quickly. You aren’t too cautious, and you don’t overthink, yet you’re able to quickly integrate perspectives and move forward. As our strategy evolves, you can unpack what that means for the team, prioritize new tasks, and determine where client care can have the biggest impact on Precision Nutrition as a whole.

      You're an independent, confident decision-maker.

You make things happen. When you're getting competing feedback, you know how to make an executive decision and keep moving. You trust in your own knowledge of best customer care practices, and if something doesn't feel right, you’re ready to jump in and make a change.

You’re an exceptional communicator who can grow a team.

You know how to inspire and be heard. You know the importance of communication, and can clearly articulate the rationale for your decisions. You’re good at identifying and leveraging your team members’ strengths, and where they have blindspots—you find ways to fill those gaps.

You know the tools of the trade.

You’re a savvy Service Cloud expert, and you know how to make use of its metrics so we’re using our customer data to its fullest potential. You know the channels through which we interact with clients—Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, direct email systems, and perhaps even phone—and you’re proficient in using them for customer service and success.

You can zoom in and zoom out.

You’re leading the client care team, which means you’ll be taking in lots of input from all sides—whether it be the front lines of customer service or what’s happening in the rest of the company at large. You’ll need to be able to help solve the small problems while also taking into account Precision Nutrition’s wider goals.

      You’re a mind reader.

Well, not really—but you’re intuitive as heck, and you know how to read between the lines. You understand people, giving you the uncanny ability to anticipate a customer’s needs, understand the difference between what they say and what they mean, and know how to respond empathetically.

      You’re a prioritizing machine.

When confronted with multiple competing perspectives, you’re able to hone in on what has the most value to the company at any given moment—and push back on the stuff that isn’t.

      You're flexible and resilient.

PN is a fast-evolving company, and you have to thrive in an environment where you're always learning, testing new approaches, and seeking out other perspectives.

      What you’ll be doing

Expanding and guiding a killer team that helps our customers succeed...

You’ll pave the way for our rapidly expanding client care team to be more agile, proactive, and effective.

Your mission is simple: build and scale the team into a well-oiled machine that can both solve our customer’s problems and sell them on our products. That means:

      • Building a flexible team. You’ll be handling everything from designing a flexible structure and onboarding new hires to training them and managing supplemental contractors. You decide what the team looks like, how they’re allocated to our different products, and how our customer service and success practices are developed.

      • Honing your team’s skills. You’ll develop ongoing training programs as we bring new people in, and define operational metrics for the team. You’ll build a system for tracking those metrics, review them regularly, and share them at the company level. You’ll always be looking for ways to improve our approach.

      • Learning our clients’ needs. You’ll identify insights from our clients’ issues, and ensure those are translated to the development, product, and marketing teams. You’ll learn the journey prospective customers go through as they come to us, and will have the opportunity to make actual sales through the customer service channels. You’ll learn about all of our audiences, and develop responses to the problems they have so we ensure they all leave telling their friends about the amazing experience they just had with Precision Nutrition.

      • Developing our strategy. You’ll identify the customer service industry’s best practices, decide which ones make sense at Precision Nutrition (or how we need to alter them for the way we work), and implement them for the team.

      • Working with the budgets. You’re responsible for P&L as it relates to the client care team, so you’ll be building budgets, managing forecasts, and proposing business cases for the different tools and organizational approaches that make sense for the team and PN.

      A few important caveats

This is a dream job, if you’re the right person for it.

Must-Have #1: You must be experienced.

You have 10+ years of proven experience successfully leading operational customer service and success teams, both in B2B and B2C environments. You have a clear track record of developing service level agreements, developing key performance indicators, ensuring compliance, managing reputation, and communicating the company’s vision to your remote team. You have experience implementing systems that increase efficiencies and improve our overall customer experience.

Must-Have #2: You know every aspect of the field.

You aren’t just well-versed in customer service, but you also have a background in sales and customer success—and ideally even SaaS. You know how to establish best practices in all these areas so we’re serving our customers’ needs as efficiently as possible.

      Must-Have #3: You’re tech-savvy and analytical.

You know how to prioritize inputs coming in and make recommendations. You have a keen understanding of financial metrics, budgeting, forecasting, revenue generation, data management analysis, and the ability to turn those into actionable plans. We rely heavily on digital support, so you’ll need a certain level of technical acumen to lead this team.

As a Senior Product Designer, you will own the strategy and production of creative assets for FutureFuel.io to support the Product and Sales teams. As part of a Series A start-up, you will be challenged to wear multiple hats in a fast-paced, dynamic role that includes critical responsibilities in UI design, sales/marketing assets, and brand. We are looking for someone to lead our visual and brand strategy, elevate the product, and help us build inspiring and engaging first impressions and experiences with our customers, users, and key stakeholders.

As a creative leader, you are thrilled to chase the answers to the most challenging questions in design and you are constantly seeking ways that would make a human experience feel more intuitive, inclusive, accessible, fun, and delightful. You see the job title as just a starting point and you naturally feel empowered to solve problems without being asked, but you also value being a team member that seeks collaboration over siloed decision-making. You are not afraid to lead and are excited by the opportunity to contribute new ideas and spearhead new strategies to help us build and grow our global team and company. You will report to the VP of Product and work with a growing team of full-time and contracted resources across design, UX, engineering, operations, and sales.

      Does this sound like you?

      • You have fierce attention to detail. You embrace ambiguity, thrive in the agile environment of a start-up, and are excited about building systems and processes from the ground up.

      • You can dive deep into the micro of how products, websites, processes, and assets get designed and built, while also maintaining the ability to zoom out into the macro and provide the vision for how our visual design and brand identity should iterate into an influential powerhouse for innovation, social impact, and market-leading UX.

      • You are seeking to help build digital experiences that won't settle for any standard less than inspiring love and admiration by people, for people. You are naturally curious, eager to explore uncharted territory, and diligent in balancing competing opportunities and constraints.

      • You seek growth through constant feedback loops and constructive critique. You naturally challenge yourself and others to achieve increasingly complex challenges and key results over time.

As a member of the FutureFuel family, we are looking for someone who is proud to be a part of a mission-driven organization that exists to CRUSH student debt.

      Key Responsibilities:

      • Translate product requirements, user & customer needs, technical requirements into designs that are visually enticing, easy to use, and emotionally engaging.

      • Collect feedback and best-case examples from the team and collaborate cross-functionally to guide the team in the direction, style, brand and methodology.

      • Generate clear ideas, concepts, creative insights and provide project oversight on visual assets from beginning to end.

      • Interpret storyboards, mockups, and flow charts to help translate into a visual design strategy that iterates from low-fi to high-fi.

      • Review, refine, and approve design assets through a system of design quality assurance and validation.

      • Spearhead how design will work at FutureFuel with a strong but flexible POV that helps the team determine how to get the job done with confidence and clarity.

      • Work collaboratively with other designers and cross-functionally to ensure a consistent, integrated brand perception and user-experience.

      • Be a design evangelist; you naturally stay tuned into the latest design standards, guidelines, and discussions in the visual design field and seek to bring ideas from the outside in to fortify our team.

      • Work closely with the product and engineering teams to ensure that design specifications are implemented and reflect design intent.

      • Create and maintain a library of visual assets (sales decks, one-pagers, digital media, etc.) for our Sales team.

      • Translate customer requirements and sales needs into designs that capture our brand identity and articulate the opportunity we are offering.

      • Contribute to FutureFuel.io’s knowledge base.

      • Qualifications:

      • A minimum of four years of professional experience in designing brand identities, grid systems, editorial layouts and applications for web, desktop and mobile.

      • The ability to refine other people’s ideas and come up with new ones to create a highly designed visual experience.

      • Well organized, responsible and dedicated, with the ability to work on multiple projects and deliver refined design in a short time.

      • Self-learning, able to learn new tools quickly and work in a fast evolving environment.

      • Experience integrating user research into product design and design practices.

      • Proven ability delivering high quality designs to customers.

      • Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign and Sketch.

      • Expert level skills in Photoshop, Invision, UXPin and other relevant design tools.

    • We are a diverse team from around the world, on a mission to make DuckDuckGo the company people trust most with their online privacy, and we want your help!

Join our team as a Brand Design Lead, who is up for the challenge to lead and transform the DuckDuckGo brand experience across all of our products.

As part of our growing Design Team, you will be collaborating with team members at all levels to shape how we communicate our brand throughout the entire experience — from marketing to our search engine and privacy tools. You will lead the entire design process of your projects, from ideation to execution. You will have a voice in all product decisions, both big and small, and an opportunity to leverage our approach to design (which you can read more about at: https://spreadprivacy.com/ethical-by-design/).

We are fully remote and seek to empower our team to be self-directed and self-motivated in their projects. If that seems awesome and you like the idea of our core values -- build trust, question assumptions, and validate direction -- you'll fit right in!

      What you will do:

      • Champion the evolution of our brand language, that speaks to our mission and creates a strong and recognizable brand.

      • Lead and advise projects showcasing our brand and retaining a consistent brand message across multiple platforms: product, print, partner communication, events, advertising, and soft goods.

      • Define how our brand is applied throughout both Marketing and Product in our design system.

      • Mentor and provide creative direction to others, raising understanding of design's role across the organization.

      • Carry ideas forward with discretion and little direction.

      • Collaborate cross-functionally to create impactful work that is informed by data and user feedback.

      • Engage in critique, humbly defending your work, and being transparent with your process.

      What we are looking for:

      • Demonstrable strengths and hands-on experience in brand design, typography, color, and composition, having led the branding efforts for at least one large software or digital product.

      • Proficiency with current industry design tools needed to carry out brand work.

      • Prior experience in leadership level design positions and willingness to mentor other designers.

      • Ability to provide creative direction and lead difficult brand conversations with discretion and little direction.

      • Understanding of design systems and their impact across product and marketing.

      • Ability to collaborate in defining and evolving brand messaging, actively representing the brand voice and vision.

      • Ability to write creative briefs that define and communicate project goals with stakeholders.

      • Effective project management ability, paired with exceptional communication skills.

      • Experience working with qualitative user research.

      Other things to know:

      • While we leverage specific job titles for hiring purposes, we do not use them internally. Instead, we follow our own professional levels, with expectations for each level clearly defined across several dimensions.

      • We are a small, remote team distributed across time zones, and we rely on a variety of communication tools throughout the day.

      • Sometimes we meet up! Expect to travel at least two times a year: once for our all-hands meetup and again for a team retreat (each ~4-5 days).

      • We believe in a focused approach to collaboration, where individual team members work on a single top priority at a time, each supporting larger, company-wide objectives. This philosophy serves to impact our vision to raise the standard of trust online.

      • Our work philosophy centers on empowered project management. All team members have opportunities to run projects.

      • Transparency supports individual and team success at DuckDuckGo. We encourage everyone to participate in areas of interest throughout the company. Anyone and everyone can (and should) ask questions and offer feedback about our products and internal projects.

      • We aim to exemplify our values (build trust, question assumptions, and validate direction) in everything we do.

      • While this is a full-time job, we offer a flexible work arrangement with no core hours, expecting an average commitment of 40 hours per week.

      • We support professional development of our team members through career advisory and a learning stipend, reinforcing our culture of growth and skill-building.

DuckDuckGo does not work with any recruiting agencies or services. Instead, we work with each candidate one-on-one throughout a unique hiring process that we've built to reflect our company culture.

DuckDuckGo provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment, and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.

Tara AI helps enterprise companies predict their spec, timeline and personnel needs for future software products, by analyzing their past projects. Today, the process of scoping is a completely manual process; enterprise companies are losing an average of $66Bn through inefficiencies in IT and software project scoping leading to cost and timeline overruns. However, F500 companies are sitting on a treasure trove of data in their project management systems, git version control and workforce directories. We connect to this data via an API, and using ML models, predict how to build their software (technical tasks), how long projects should take (timeline) and who will execute (team) when starting a new project.  Customers include product teams at F500s like IBM, Cisco & Orange Telecom.

Tara leverages artificial intelligence to create project plans (scopes) in real time. Our algorithms pair customers with the right internal engineers and external freelancers within hours, and deliver an experience that offers full transparency into project progress and milestones, down to the most granular of tasks.

Tara AI is looking for a creative, visually articulate UI designer who can lead our design initiatives and deliver beautiful, intuitive web experiences for our application. As an integral part of our design team, you will work cross-functionally with the product and engineering teams to drive our design vision into solid, compelling deliverables. We’re looking for someone with a strong passion for user interface design, great attention to aesthetics, and a strong portfolio in enterprise product design. If you’ve got a knack for making real-world difference, Tara AI wants to hear from you.

      Responsibilities:

      • Evaluating existing applications and evaluating their UI effectiveness in collaboration with product managers and engineers

      • Collaborating with our UX designers in user testing of applications, software and websites

      • Creating and implementing interaction models, user flows, and user interface specifications

      • Illustrating design ideas using storyboards, process flows and sitemaps

      • Developing and maintaining design wireframes and specifications of best practices to share with design team as new projects begin

      • Identify opportunities for improvements and make recommendations to create high-fidelity and compelling illustrations and frameworks

      Requirements:

      • 3+ years in user interface design, preferably at a SaaS company

      • Ability to tackle all design challenges and align customer demands with business goals to generate UI solutions

      • Proven success in translating business needs into visually-engaging, customer-focused solutions

      • Solid experience in creating wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows and site maps

      • Proficiency in Sketch or Zeplin, Adobe Creative Suite, OmniGraffle, or other visual design and wire-framing tools

      • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for rapid prototyping

      • Excellent visual design skills with sensitivity to user-system interaction

Please submit links to your portfolio to be considered for the role (Dribble profile or live URLs to apps or web platforms).

We are looking for a UI/UX designer to join us. You will be responsible for designing the interface and usability of a variety of apps, for a range of different use cases and levels of complexity. In addition to a solid background in UI/UX, an interest in, and understanding of, the blockchain space would be a big bonus.

      Responsibilities

      • Design, test and ship the user interface on multiple apps across platforms

      • Collaborate with front-end and blockchain developers

      • Be autonomous and self driven

      • Help us create and maintain the company’s culture and core values while we grow

      Requirements

      • 3+ years experience as a UX/UI Designer or similar role

      • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript

      • Great communication skills

      • High level understanding of blockchain and p2p networks

      • Some experience working in crypto is nice, but experience as a user can compensate

      Benefits

      • Competitive salary

      • High degree of autonomy to schedule your work week and vacation time

      • Company retreats to conferences and events

Ideally, you would be located or willing to relocate to Oslo, but working remotely is also an option. In the latter case, you would have to be located in a reasonably suitable time zone, and expect to travel to Oslo up to four times a year.

    • Who we are / what we do

At Hanno, we’re dedicated to helping organisations of all sizes transform themselves and the healthcare industry. For us, this means rethinking what it takes to design, build and launch the next generation of digital health products and services—whether their goal is improving patient care, treatment compliance, clinical diagnostics or surgical precision—these are serious challenges, and they need seriously good solutions.

More than a consultancy, we’re also an in-house product team—we are effectively building and launching new startup propositions for our clients and ourselves. To do this we need an amazing team of designers, engineers, strategists, and roles we haven’t even created yet.

We don’t work like an agency, or a consultancy, or even a product studio. We work with our clients as if we were part of their team. We join them in the trenches. We treat the unseen aspects of their product as if they were on full display. We go above and beyond the brief to maximise the impact and success they have on the market and the users they serve.

To live up to this, everyone in our team relentlessly drives towards the same goal—to improve the health and wellbeing of people all over the world.

If that lights a fire in your belly, come on board.

      What you'll be doing

      • You’ll be the custodian of everything the user touches—defending their interests and needs (to the death) and solving serious design challenges with elegant, intuitive and, if needs be, unconventional solutions, with a touch of personal flair. In practical terms, you’ll be working on greenfield projects, collaborating closely with UX directors, art directors and the best engineers, strategists and “tier 1” clients to create engaging user experiences; building prototypes, designing beautiful and polished interfaces, leading other designers, and helping ensure smooth handovers.

      • You use design best practices that work – You have great taste in interfaces. You keep abreast of what works and what doesn’t as our medium continues to evolve. You can instantly recognise the tools and methods required to achieve results in any given situation.

      • You can work fast, and slow – Having worked in both fast-paced start-up environments and more process-driven corporate settings, you understand how to balance lean design principles with corporate governance and signoff processes.

      • You’re willing and able to go beyond the conventional – Digital products can lack personality, style and risk-taking. We never compromise accessibility or performance but we do push the creative boundaries of what’s possible to create unique, engaging experiences. You’re not only comfortable with this but crave the opportunity to create original concepts and new UI systems.

      • You’ve found balance – You know how to balance a product’s design with what your peers would applaud and what your client and their users really need. You know when to strive for pixel perfect, when good is good enough, and when polished interactions and animations serve a purpose, and when they are simply a pursuit of vanity.

      • You have a sharp eye for detail – You have highly developed organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks. You strive for quality not only in your final deliverables but also in the working assets you use along the way.

      • You over-communicate with the team about your priorities, choices, tradeoffs, and the rationale behind the design decisions you take.

      You'll have

      • Several years experience in product design with experience leading other designers

      • A portfolio of projects that you can talk us through: the end result, the process you took, trade-offs you had to make, the inspiration and design systems you used

      • A deep understanding and appreciation of the various design systems and guidelines that dominate app and web interfaces, and where and when they should be used

      • Strong UX capabilities: you’re able to interrogate and understand a product's users and commercial goals and make sure our work drives towards these

      • Expert UI skills: you have a rich understanding of UI principles and can apply these to polished, interactive designs

      • A proactive mindset: if there's something you don't understand, or a task/process tweak that's needed, you seek to address it rather than relying on others to

      • Fluency in spoken and written English: accents are fine, but we work on tricky projects across multiple time zones so great communication is a must

      • Willingness to get overlap with the team: they’ll be on a European time zone, so you’ll need to arrange for at least 4 hours of overlap each day

      • Bonus if you also have

      • Experience doing all of the above 100% remotely!

      • Achieved mastery of; type hierarchies, interaction language, intuitive navigation, modality, card-based component design, and data visualisation

      • Knowledge and experience of designing products for patients and clinicians

    • Tara helps enterprise companies predict their spec, timeline and personnel needs for future software products, by analyzing their past projects.

Leaving no one behind, in the fastest period of change the world has ever seen. This is what we care about, and if this doesn't massively resonate as a purpose, you can stop reading and go back to your latte or green tea! If it does, well, you are already 50% here!

We (and you) will be laser focussed on transforming the way people and organisations respond to change. Ever wondered what your AQ is? Or even what the hell an AQ actually is?

We are looking for a truly ambitious and data-informed Product Lead to join our exciting and ambitious startup. As our Product Lead, your role will be focused on developing our product roadmap and crafting our initial digital assessment tool into a winning experience that helps us towards achieving our ambitious growth plans.

You're a creator looking to join the initial team of a high impact, investor backed entrepreneurial company. You’re excited by the challenge of creating a category defining product that will (actually) change the lives and trajectory our users.

You’re a data driven, analytical Product Manager. You will drive the evolution of our product, the strategy, roadmap planning and design of the product and its features. You will craft the best digital experience possible, through a combination of deep, empathetic understanding of our users and market, with analytics-informed iteration and creative decision making.

You will work with our co-founders, research, tech and commercial leads to build on our initial beta1.0 product, based on user feedback collected.

You are energized by the idea of leading our products and building your team out as the company launches and scales. Until then, you can't wait to get outside of your comfort zone, trying on many hats in the process!

Next stage is a video, so if that makes you turn away, then we probably weren't right for each other anyway :)

      • Technical background and clear understanding of developer products; familiarity with Git, Continuous Integration, and Project Management software a plus

      • Imagine yourself as the lead sherpa, guiding our clients as they scale an unclimbed mountain. You will help plot the route, prioritise and execute the ascent, and mitigate risks and pitfalls. In practical terms (we have a penchant for the theatrical), you will be leading small, highly skilled teams to conceive and deliver world-class user experiences that maximise adoption, engagement and retention of digital healthcare products and services.

      • You take “extreme ownership” – You employ broader thinking. You can prioritise and execute tasks between multiple workflows and disciplines. You know when to manage and when to lead (you can seamlessly switch between “playing the orchestra” and “leading the jazzband”).

      • You can work fast, and slow – Having worked in both fast-paced start-up environments and more process-driven corporate settings, you know how to balance lean, MVP product development principles with corporate governance and signoff processes.

      • You live and breathe product – You’re obsessed with building fantastic products. You keep abreast of what works and what doesn’t as our medium continues to evolve. You can instantly recognise the tools and methods required to achieve results in any given situation.

      • You’re willing and able to go beyond the conventional – Realising the promise of digital healthcare for patients and clinicians has a long way to go. You’re not just comfortable managing what you can measure, but leading into the unknown, with open eyes and an open mind, reacting effectively to the needs of a shifting landscape.

      • You have a sharp eye for detail – You have highly developed organisational skills. You leave no stone left unturned and let nothing slip through the net. You’re on it.

      • You’re radically transparent with the team and our clients about your priorities, choices, tradeoffs, and decisions.

      You'll have

      • Several years experience leading teams in the development of great digital products and propositions

      • A portfolio of projects that you can talk us through, the end result, the process you took, trade offs you and the team had to make, etc.

      • Clear experience analysing, synthesising and turning disparate, qualitative and quantitative research and data into design principles and briefs

      • Clear experience interrogating target user/customer needs and marrying these with strategic, operational and tactical objectives

      • A deep understanding and appreciation of UX design, behavioural science and gamification, and where and how they should be used

      • Rich experience of managing innovation and design processes: from running “Sprints” to formulating design thinking tools and methodologies

      • Fluency in spoken and written English: accents are fine, but we work on tricky projects across multiple time zones, so great communication is a must

      • Willingness to get overlap with the team and client: they could be spread between European and US time zones, so you’ll need to arrange for adequate overlap each day

      Bonus if you also have

      • Experience doing all of the above 100% remotely!

      • A “tier 1” consulting firm background

      • Knowledge and experience of creating products for patients and clinicians
